  1. Srìmad Bhagavatam, first canto

CHAPTER ONE Questions by the Sages Text 1: O my Lord, Śrī Kṛṣṇa, son of Vasudeva, O all-pervading Personality of Godhead, I offer my respectful obeisances unto You. I meditate upon Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa because He is the Absolute Truth and the primeval cause of all causes of the creation, sustenance and destruction of the manifested universes. He is directly and indirectly conscious of all manifestations, and He is independent because there is no other cause beyond Him. It is He only who first imparted the Vedic knowledge unto the heart of Brahmājī, the original living being. By Him even the great sages and demigods are placed into illusion, as one is bewildered by the illusory representations of water seen in fire, or land seen on water. Only because of Him do the material universes, temporarily manifested by the reactions of the three modes of nature, appear factual, although they are unreal. I therefore meditate upon Him, Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa, who is eternally existent in the transcendental abode, which is forever free from the illusory representations of the material world. I meditate upon Him, for He is the Absolute Truth. ————— Q: what does the term «Godhead» mean? notes: The last sentence stood out: «I therefore meditate upon Him, Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa, who is eternally existent in the transcendental abode, which is forever free from the illusory representations of the material world. I meditate upon Him, for He is the Absolute Truth.» It made me think about something a good friend of me once said: either you worship God, or you worship the mundane (ego, money and the like). I believe there is great truth to that.
  2. Leaving the body

Is the soul also «the observer»? Awareness?
  3. Leaving the body

Early on, I asked, jokingly: «so when are we going to the moon to drink soma». He didn’t look to happy about that
  4. Leaving the body

So if im not my body… nor my mind… what am I? The soul? What is the soul?
  5. One distinction I quite like, is that instead of thinking attatchment vs. detatchment, think love vs. lust.
  6. it is not what goes in (the mouth), but what comes out that defiles you. Matthew 15:11. (I think what comes in is important to, but that’s beside the point) So, sometimes I wished I had a dictionary when talking to wise men. I said those words to a teacher of mine. Later that day, I opened up google. I don’t even recall what I searched for, but at the top, there was a file full of different mystics (Meister Eckhart being the only I recall from the top for my head) with quotes along the lines of «everything is sound». Personally, I engange in kirtan, the Hare Krishna mantra and the like, but I am sure there is no lack of powerful frequencies out there. One devotee told me how it was very clear that, when he started chanting the holy name, he got faced with a mirror of himself: that is, the external world sort of became a reflection or him. «Very interesting you mentioned that,» I said, «because I to felt very clearly that I was faced with aspects of myself that was not very beautiful». He smiled. The heart has to be cleansed first, and I guess it is a tiny bit softer now, as the world appears far more beautiful. Every individual is just a reflection of you Reincarnated by Kendrick Lamar Now a days they are teaching me the correct pronunciation of Sanskrit. What a wonderful tongue. One thing that has kind of confused me growing up, is how we are able to communicate trough these computers and phones and radios of ours. I’ve always known that it is some kind of waves. Sounds kinda like magic to me. At times I’ve just pushed the whole issue to the side tho, as I would assume that the people working on these devices knows what’s going on. My family of origin as well as the extended one, is full of very intelligent and technical minded people with relevant education. So I asked them. «Waves» they said. «Frequencies?» «Yes» So yeah, seems like it kinda runs on vibes. Sort of how the shepherded in Coelhos alchemist talks about being in tune with the sheep. Or Robert Sheldrakes concept of morphic ressonance. According to qauntum physics, it is all just waves, until an observer appear, is it not? That’s kinda what eyes do as well, no, reflect light? So, to end this little brain fart, I would, in addition to hearing your thoughts on the matter, offer a piece of advice: 1. be mindful of what music you listen to I am not Muslim. Or maybe I am, as I accept that God (and all) is one. And their prayer calls are kind of beautiful. Also sheds some light on why certain kind of music is banned in some schools of Islamic thoughts. اللّهُ مَعَكَ
  7. Everyone post some favorite quotes!

Death is but crossing the world, as friends do the seas; they live in one another still. For they must needs be present, that love and live in that which is omnipresent. In this divine glass, they see face to face; and their converse is free as well as pure. This is the comfort of friends, that though they may be said to die, yet their friendship and society are, in the best sense, ever present, because immortal. William Penn, Some Fruits Of Solitude
  8. Leaving the body

Mhm, that has been a constant struggle for me as my mind is like the wind. During Jappa (chanting) and Kirtan («singing mantra) at the temple it becomes calm tho, it is wonderful. Kirtan: https://youtu.be/VP623hMbAIA?si=u2LX_5ce_oBXhSSw
  9. Leaving the body

No Sir, my health might be quite far from ideal, but I am certainly not dyeing : ) I am confident that they were not refering to that either, as they stressed that I could continue my material experience in this very body and this life time. Not a bad idea, all three of them will be gone for about a month or so.
  10. Leaving the body

Makes lots of sense. God/Krishna conciousness is really about that, is it not? Sort of realates to this as well: Does it not? We also had the pleasure of having HH Dhirasanta dasa Goswami paying us a visit last month, he repeated that the ACB of the movement is: "you are not your body."
  11. Leaving the body

Isckon. The intention, I am not sure. It is not a stable of the society, as far as I am aware. As far as I see it, they are about love and service. My guru is no doubt a humble and loving soul.
  12. Jupp Yes, you make sense. Th 4-5 regulatorioury principles are really simple, truth be told, so I am sort of curious where the blockage comes from, as I am not very concistent. Also, in retards to the temple, we have agreed it is best I do it gradually. So at first, I will try it out now from 27-30.06, and the we will see : ) Also, what does asat -sanga mean?
  13. When I was a child, I loved chess, right. So much so that I at times attemptet to play with myself when there was nobody around: that is, play both side of the table, both black and white. Needless to say, didnt work that well. So in order to play this beautifull game of ours, some seperation is needed, it seems.
  14. I belive so, yes. Hmmm… I do belive there is such a thing as cosmic law. And that law is love. It is a way to combat entropy, in a way. When it comes to the societal nature of it, there is more variance, obviously. Divinely inspired? Perhaps. I think they are of tremendous importance, and that a lot of suffering in the modern day is due to the collapse of these structures. So is it conceivable that some higher power tries to restore balance to his creation? I don’t know. And yeah, then there are also the «societal laws» that has been twisted to benefit the group that twisted them. Disturbing. but yes, I agree for the most part. I am thinking about making a thread in the Hindu textual subforum on BG 3.16-29, there about, as I did like it a lot.
  15. Initiation

Mhm, I listened to it on audio tho, and the way it was written (jumping back and forth) as well reading it in a foreign language made it hard to follow. So I mainly relied on the movies. But loads of interesting aspects, like Paul’s education, his psychic ability, the question of how to rule/use his gifts… the blue eyed fremen in the desert, spice and some jihad to top it off… A thread on movies inspired by… what to call it, «a certain order», I guess and their esoteric meanings could be fascinating. Lord of the rings fascinates me as well. I have read the books, but again, focusing mainly on the movies… what a piece of art. Can’t believe it is possible. Tempted to believe it is either inspired by higher powers, or is made by a large group of people. Could probably be said that every form of creative action, anything requiring spirit, is inspired by something else, but but. Plato’s ring of Gyges was likley a huge inspiration. A ring that turns the user invisible, asking the question of how good of a person are you when no one’s watching. The warrior king is one of the few strong enough, and therefore… worthy of the crown. And like another warrior king, Arjuna, he restores order. Brought balance to the force, so to speak Like Christ in Easter (according to the catholic tradition) he enters the realm of the dead for three days, bringing them back to life. He was quite fascinated by Germanic myth and folklore as well, I think is fairly evident. Probably drew from a lot of other traditions. Also he was, very understandably, shaken by what he saw happening to the natural environment due to industrialization as well as ww1. To get a little creepy we could go talk about orcs and the all seing eye and stuff, but prob better leave it be. Fascinating stuff, stories.
  16. Bg. 3.22 न मे पार्थास्ति कर्तव्यं त्रिषु लोकेषु किञ्चन । नानवाप्त‍मवाप्त‍व्यं वर्त एव च कर्मणि ॥ २२ ॥ na me pārthāsti kartavyaṁ triṣu lokeṣu kiñcana nānavāptam avāptavyaṁ varta eva ca karmaṇi Synonyms na — not; me — Mine; pārtha — O son of Pṛthā; asti — there is; kartavyam — prescribed duty; triṣu — in the three; lokeṣu — planetary systems; kiñcana — any; na — nothing; anavāptam — wanted; avāptavyam — to be gained; varte — I am engaged; eva — certainly; ca — also; karmaṇi — in prescribed duty. Translation O son of Pṛthā, there is no work prescribed for Me within all the three planetary systems. Nor am I in want of anything, nor have I a need to obtain anything – and yet I am engaged in prescribed duties. Purport The Supreme Personality of Godhead is described in the Vedic literatures as follows: tam īśvarāṇāṁ paramaṁ maheśvaraṁ taṁ devatānāṁ paramaṁ ca daivatam patiṁ patīnāṁ paramaṁ parastād vidāma devaṁ bhuvaneśam īḍyam na tasya kāryaṁ karaṇaṁ ca vidyate na tat-samaś cābhyadhikaś ca dṛśyate parāsya śaktir vividhaiva śrūyate svābhāvikī jñāna-bala-kriyā ca “The Supreme Lord is the controller of all other controllers, and He is the greatest of all the diverse planetary leaders. Everyone is under His control. All entities are delegated with particular power only by the Supreme Lord; they are not supreme themselves. He is also worshipable by all demigods and is the supreme director of all directors. Therefore, He is transcendental to all kinds of material leaders and controllers and is worshipable by all. There is no one greater than Him, and He is the supreme cause of all causes. “He does not possess a bodily form like that of an ordinary living entity. There is no difference between His body and His soul. He is absolute. All His senses are transcendental. Any one of His senses can perform the action of any other sense. Therefore, no one is greater than Him or equal to Him. His potencies are multifarious, and thus His deeds are automatically performed as a natural sequence.” (Śvetāśvatara Upaniṣad 6.7–8) Since everything is in full opulence in the Personality of Godhead and is existing in full truth, there is no duty for the Supreme Personality of Godhead to perform. One who must receive the results of work has some designated duty, but one who has nothing to achieve within the three planetary systems certainly has no duty. And yet Lord Kṛṣṇa is engaged on the Battlefield of Kurukṣetra as the leader of the kṣatriyasbecause the kṣatriyas are duty-bound to give protection to the distressed. Although He is above all the regulations of the revealed scriptures, He does not do anything that violates the revealed scriptures. Bg. 3.23 यदि ह्यहं न वर्तेयं जातु कर्मण्यतन्द्रितः । मम वर्त्मानुवर्तन्ते मनुष्याः पार्थ सर्वशः ॥ २३ ॥ yadi hy ahaṁ na varteyaṁ jātu karmaṇy atandritaḥ mama vartmānuvartante manuṣyāḥ pārtha sarvaśaḥ Synonyms yadi — if; hi — certainly; aham — I; na — do not; varteyam — thus engage; jātu — ever; karmaṇi — in the performance of prescribed duties; atandritaḥ — with great care; mama — My; vartma — path; anuvartante — would follow; manuṣyāḥ— all men; pārtha — O son of Pṛthā; sarvaśaḥ — in all respects. Translation For if I ever failed to engage in carefully performing prescribed duties, O Pārtha, certainly all men would follow My path. Purport In order to keep the balance of social tranquillity for progress in spiritual life, there are traditional family usages meant for every civilized man. Although such rules and regulations are for the conditioned souls and not Lord Kṛṣṇa, because He descended to establish the principles of religion He followed the prescribed rules. Otherwise, common men would follow in His footsteps, because He is the greatest authority. From the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam it is understood that Lord Kṛṣṇa was performing all the religious duties at home and out of home, as required of a householder. My question to you is, why would God (in the highest sense of that word), who is complete, feel the want to restore dharma?
  17. Sorry to bother you mods, but I am undergoing training know, so a place to take notes, journal and keep track of practice would be of great benefit, I feel.

Gnosis with a sense of humor, what more can one ask for. I feel like many of these tales (like Star Wars, lord of the rings, dune, Harry Potter and a bunch more) have a lot of depth, tho.
