  1. The Brexit Thread

What is the world going to think if the EU beats the UK into submitting like lamb to slaughter. Who will be cheering ? Truth is even the EU wanted the UK to win, because everyone likes the sound of freedom not matter what work they happen to be doing.
  2. What are you listening to?

Just can't get enough. I believe that when we listen to music our organs (and consciousness) is being individually stimulated by the different instruments the melodious guitar > the heart, drums > subconscious animal, voice > personality. And we love music according to the music it makes inside us.
  3. what does the transcendent desire?

When you experience the Source it may as well be the whole world to you as nothing exists outside you, but ... it is not actually the whole world and it is important to understand that you are an individuated being who is forming a communion that is individuated from the whole, it is in fact the "real" person. Unfortunately through being a species quite low on the ladder of consciousness, many awakened people have spread ideas that they are god and they are everything ... or they never existed ... such ideas inevitably degenerate into ...."oh so there is nothing to do then" "nobody to do any meditation". Which then becomes harmful. There is certainly plenty to do and only by doing it will the magic happen.
  4. [DDJ Meaning] Chapter 16

Believing or non-believing is only for people who are very lazy to try, or in love with their minds, or both.
  5. what does the transcendent desire?

Veiling and unveiling is only something that humans are experiencing because they are at a crossing point between two worlds. Existence lives through its beings. So the better question is what does my transcendent desire, and how can I find my transcendent.
  6. [DDJ Meaning] Chapter 16

Are you surprised ? Did you think all you had to do was understand some concepts in the head ? Everyone who is practicing the Taoist arts is developing these skills.
  7. [DDJ Meaning] Chapter 16

We can say the way of nature is unchanging with the mind, but can you feel it ? Feel it in the belly. When you see a person can you name the element he represents, or a structure or the state of the sky, can you feel it ... when you see something do you feel in your belly what it means ? Feeling it in the belly can you merge with it in your being. Then your belly has been opened to the underground forces that are clothed by the material world.
  8. Umbrella or Enema ?

Gurdjieff : Even God make mistake - one big mistake he made Mrs Gordon : But I thought you said he had arranged everything with 'timie' ? Gurdjieff : All - but not one thing. He made umbrella when he should have made enema. So now he idiot like everyone else and sit in gallosh. > Life is too easy for us, we treat the situation too easily. A teacher might advise you to do 1 hour a day, but really he knows you need to do 3 but he doesn't tell you for fear you run. Truth is you really need to do 9 hours a day or live like donkey in washing machine. Another story from Gurdjieff and the women of the rope : Gurdjieff : Even bear fly - yes, is such expression in Russia, old Russia. Always you hear from old peasant who come down from mountain. Very great meaning, have. Even bear fly, can do such thing. You can imagine bear up on top mountain, he step over where think still is mountain, and is cliff, and down he go. You are standing below. What you see ? You see bear fly - he come not like dead body, he so and so [illustrates arms out clutching, every effort tense]. He not fall, he fly. Maybe is last fly, but meanwhile he fly.
  9. How to develop mindfulness awareness of energy body?

    Why are you stressed ?
  10. What are you listening to?

In this one they discuss Hendrix's brand of creaming himself on stage, like the "Hendrix Chords" that combines major / minor notes together in one chord ... I am sure there is some alchemy in there :
  11. What are you listening to?

These rock stars incarnated into this world had sex with everything and everyone, creaming themselves through their instruments every night ... then blew themselves up in an explosion !!! Is it healthy ? Or is it a great way to live ? Not sure.
  12. Chen Tai Chi : How To Learn

Can you say a bit more about Yiquan, it's energetics and so on ... how is it compared to tai chi ? And how to learn ?
  13. Anger as Power

Anger often is an over reaction caused by being vulnerable inside. And it is useful in a fight, but for many (like me) it just lingers and ruins everything in your life. One must be prepared to return to the vulnerable and give up your dreams, heal yourself, then everything will be better. Fantasising about anger, saying it is power, is unhelpful. It is not real power. Real power is like mountain. Silent.
  14. Chen Tai Chi : How To Learn

Yes, it's a good point, unfortunately there are no obvious answers, and I have more time at home that anything else, that's my situation. Interestingly listening to Marin Spivack and the other interview further up on the thread it is clear that many older tai chi master died of diseases whilst not very old, and also that the martial application of tai chi is highly questionable, listen to Spivack for his reasoning ... though of course you can do what you wish. Personally I studied 5 years full contact Chinese Kickboxing when younger also several years western kickboxing, so I know quite a lot about fighting, and not fighting !!! Also it's interesting MMA fighting, on the ground like a dog, what fighting is really about. Why am I interested in tai chi, it's mostly about body integration, feeling chi, and merging with the source in a spiritual way .... Dayan doesn't have the body integration thing going on. Anyway more pondering to come. There is nobody obvious around here, apart from some people doing health arts and they do a 53 Yang style form with Buqi Institute, seeing them for shiatsu in an hour. Maybe try them. Anyway, life offers some opportunities but not all ... but take what is possible. Also reach for the impossible in own time.

I seem to remember Milarepa survived on nettle soup.
  17. Chen Tai Chi : How To Learn

Thank you all for your suggestions, sorry if I sound ungrateful in my responses.
  18. Chen Tai Chi : How To Learn

Practically speaking might try one of the Chen short forms, or just integrate do the Liuhebafa form I know in taichi style using silk reeling. Also being expert at competition Chen style is not the same thing as being sung into the abyss and doing the form in a profound spiritual way, maybe just try that integrate wuji, emptiness, dantien, and then movement .... just try see what happens. Hmm. Feel like tai chi anarchist. But my way will not be like official tai chi of course. Maybe I am just looking for my own way. Small, ugly, but feels real to me.
  19. Chen Tai Chi : How To Learn

Yes thank you. I am not finding books a very suitable mechanism for conveying this kind of information. Interestingly I was just doing some silk reeling, it was quite incredible I could feel the 4 basic energies, the differences and the dantien activating them through the body, effortless barely any effort and 4 different energies flowing for instance in single and double handed silk reeling. All that comes mainly from Mike Stigman's directions. Free on the internet. Now I have Ken Gullette's silk reeling DVD and also Chen Xiaowang's and they don't mention the detail Stigman's mentions. Stigman said cut the sh** and feel, go slow and just feel untl the body realigns. I did that very slowly all summer, looked it idiot in park, barely moving ... now can do, now does automatically. Right so that's telling me that official teachers can't teach me what I want to learn, and other people on youtube can, and that I can do it myself and feel it. Although doing 1 hr wuji every day the last 2 weeks has changed everything, lots of power now, more obvious. I honestly don't have time to go to a local tai chi class where we all follow like donkeys some guy showing us the first 5 moves of some form .... did that few months back following highly rated (apparently)teacher of some Yang family tradition. And then what ? I value my life too much for this cr**, it's mostly aimed at idiots. Probably after 5 months he will realise I was quite serious ... well sorry I don't have time. Learn 1 000 times as much from Stigman, now can do it myself. Looked at the index of Chen Zhenglei's videos but seems to not include any internal exercises, just very clear alignment of form ... so what ? Meaningless. Better bet is probably BKF and his students doing the Wu Short Form, small form but very accurate, incredible performances, just few moves. Or there are some from Chen Man Ching also very detailed info by that slightly wild man looking teacher. Anyway, I prefer to do small things well with real teachers, now I know these 4 energies with dantien I keep for life, for ever, no need any more instruction because feel myself so own myself. Call me crazy wild undisciplined disrespectful. But still I own this myself now. Bad attitude ... yes I know sorry, must change.
  20. Tao and the Laws of Nature

That feeling you have that thought is important ... it flowers into consciousness.
  21. Gospel of Thomas

He who knows how to live can walk abroad Without fear of rhinoceros or tiger. He will not be wounded in battle. For in him rhinoceroses can find no place to thrust their horn, Tigers no place to use their claws, And weapons no place to pierce. Why is this so? Because he has no place for death to enter. The process of human life is to form a structure, and then surrender that structure to existence, and the result is a channel of light. Surrender cannot happen before a structure is formed : preparing for rebels and such is in that phase of development; in the later phase - in him rhinoceroses can find no place to thrust their horn. JC's mission certainly involved conflict but often his responses to the Pharisees was transcendental insight, however at times he expressed frustration at his students and even at God ... "father why hast thou foresaken me". Moving between the poles of trust and despair. Also one of my favourites : “True, there are sometimes Tough joints. I feel them coming, I slow down, I watch closely, Hold back, barely move the blade, And whump! the part falls away Landing like a clod of earth. “Then I withdraw the blade, I stand still And let the joy of the work Sink in. I clean the blade And put it away.” ... he is able to alchemise even tough joints, but then again he was happy just being a cook.
  22. Gospel of Thomas

It is the same for all human systems that resist the new. "First the ignore you then they laugh at you then they attack you then you win". We can understand that the systems protect themselves, through attack, which indicates that they are very unstable and that human consciousness is in general very unstable .... and so such things are understandable. We can imagine that no system will protect itself but that is a delusion, the systems that exist are critical or nobody is going to live beyond savagery. Therefore respect them, and if you are fortunate to have the idle time to gather the luxury of Light inside, then do not blame others but bring what you can to them, paying for the extra you have gained, and respecting the shoulders upon which you stand. At the same time humans (perhaps not in all cultures but commonly) are very negative, living through oneupmanship, criticism, negativity, stealing other people's ideas, exploitation, desiring and taking what is not deserved and so on. Some very insincere and not conforming to reality has entered .... through a weak place in man.
  23. Gospel of Thomas

Father & Mother are cultivate force higher than you, on the basis of them you develop. First as child. Then when cooked, you leave home and then society cultivates you then you leave society and Heaven & Earth cultivate you. This is the course, but if people do not leave cling on, or are not cultivated well then problem. Probably many Jewish families too close, resist next step. If the teacher is not respected, And the student not cared for, Confusion will arise, however clever one is. This is the crux of mystery. Due to our confusion of consciousness we make a mess of this natural handing off from one cultivating force to another, from being student to being teacher, all linked all cultivating, like farming at many levels, all reciprochal, all cared for. But even the human mind-mess is part of a different type of cycle ... the cycles of reciprocity are "ideals" towards which we wend.
  24. Tao and the Laws of Nature

We change what we experience by changing the depth of our being. Laozi / Chuang tzu were not experiencing what you are experiencing, because they cultivated their being and experienced deep currents of existence, then they spoke about them. One cannot understand from a distance because there is no understanding without deepening your being, that in itself is understanding. The mind is able to "think" about things of which it does not know .... which might on occasion be useful but of course it because fake and misguided and missing the point, and a big headache going nowhere. Taoists didn't like speculation because they didn't need to, they deepened their being every day, and every day they understood more.
  25. Neidan ( all experiences and opinions wanted)

I think these are good questions, you know. It's not very good to just follow and not think, or imagine that just following like donkey is what it's about. Developing your ability to use intelligence, to feel out good teachers, to ask questions and listen carefully ... this is all essential, and the only way is to start having experience of traditions and paths. Then you can see what's what, and decide again. Many people reel out some neidan path with many big ideas ... has anyone actually made these work ? It's a good question, I dread to think what the answer is, often. And personally I have started to reduce my expectations of this world and these traditions, and tried for what is simple and works, or alternatively I give it a real intense go ... and then make a decision, yes or no. Or alternatively I stick with a traditional tradition. But certainly I am not getting excited at big claims at all and I assume that there are many paths with big claims where nobody on that path ever made it and all are lost including the teachers. But, at the same time even a little practice of Healing Tao or Dayan or Zhan Zhuang yields results, so there is no question you get something. There are anyway some teachers in this world who are obviously awakened or in high state, and relatively traditional and you may benefit from connecting with them. Also one has to understand that one has to make efforts, and reading the lives of the saints, finding their story is very informative. And in all cases go to the horses mouth and stick her next to mouth .... forget everyone else, there are always hangers on.
