  1. A little "eye candy" for us Taoist Texts?

I feel Mozart is perfection. Also recalled my times in dreamy Vienna, walking daily by his house with a memorial plaque that says Mozart was born here. Somehow these bright souvenir candy really ties all these fond memories together for me so i decided to share. Thanks for the reminder that a heavenly genius was born today. Or at all.

  2. We have no shortage of "Rotten States" in this world of ours - Africa and the Middle East do not bear close scrutiny, yet our Western Leaders are happy to work with them.

not quite. those do not nukes and do not cause disturbance near European borders.

So why at this point in time are fingers being pointed at Putins Russia? Is it the thread of Russian expansion and military power? Is it the situation in Syria? Is it connected with oil and gas? Is it an attempt to find a non Islamic Bogeyman?

Has anyone words of wisdom on this matter?

Because its at this point in time Russia decided to take a side. You see, there are 2 antagonists globally. The west and the arab midlle east. The west wants cheap hydrocarbons and security for Israel. The arabs want  the opposite.

The antagonism led to regime changes all over the ME, which takes time. By supporting Assad now  Russia cast it lot with the ME, thus timing its own reformatting now.

  3.  . Everything else is just to prevent the sheep from realising their position. Keep the sheep dependent and scared of the wolves. Carrot and stick.

Well they sure try;) Sheep;) You see its a topsy-turvy world, Wolves in sheep's clothing, Sheep in wolves clothing...its not that simple out there.

And yet, and here be the strangeness of it, the white men come as the breath of death; all their ways lead to death, their nostrils are filled with it; and yet they do not die. Theirs the whiskey, and tobacco, and short-haired dogs; theirs the many sicknesses, the smallpox and measles, the coughing and mouth-bleeding; theirs the white skin, and softness to the frost and storm; and theirs the pistols that shoot six times very swift and are worthless. And yet they grow fat on their many ills, and prosper, and lay a heavy hand over all the world and tread mightily upon its peoples. And their women, too, are soft as little babes, most breakable and never broken, the mothers of men. And out of all this softness, and sickness, and weakness, come strength, and power, and authority. They be gods, or devils, as the case may be.

  4. Except the market isn't a fixed pie in which there are a set number of jobs to do. It is, or should be, constantly expanding.

Unfinished sentences...;) The market is not the society. The market owners want the market to expand. At this juncture it can do so only at the expense of the society. In fact the market is only a tool for pumping the wealth from the society to the owners.

  5. Q2 - I've read the term inner alchemy but have become confused about it. Can you elaborate what exactly inner alchemy is?

    There are 2 of them.

One is an ancient Chinese art of gaining eternal youth and enlightenment, as  a timeless secret for a chosen few.

The other one is a modern western fantasy of a health practice, marketed to everybody by youngish charlatans.

  6. He claims to be an indoor student to the old yang style.

He might have been that whatever that is. As to why the secrets never leave the family see here

    http://thedaobums.com/topic/39346-misconceptions-of-qigong-neidan-alchemy/?p=647602

Any evidence that he is making this stuff up?

    Well you see,

first, in traditional paradigm Hun or Po never function alone while a person is alive. "the Hun mind is needed to be trained so it can co-exist with Po mind' is wrong since coexisting is what they do without any training. While neidan does speak about mixing Hun and Po it has a totally diff implication from coexisting.

Second, as opposed to a parlor trick with a candle, real fajin looks like this

he can not demonstrate that, otherwise he would.

    Finally, this is vicariously embarrassing

Agreed I found the candle flame stuff questionable myself...but he seems to be saying some interesting things in terms of concepts (admittedly stuff id not heard before)...

I love a tall mystical yarn too, there is nothing wrong with fantasies per se.

  7. He goes into details on cultivation and how to train the hun to coexist with Po. He is descriptive of certain experiences he had wrt hua jing which seems to confirm the yogic lotus analogy of the chakras.

He also seems to emphasize candle flame practice to train fajin.

Its all pure fantasy of his own invention with some chinese words that he does not understand thrown in.

  8. Thank you all for your thoughts.

    @Taoist Texts

I do not have the book at my disposal at this moment, but I seem to remember that it is advised to do something very specific once this light becomes visible. Do you remember?

The light is an indicator, it shows that the tank is full, thats all. This does not mean that you need to do something the very second the light appears, or wait till it appears again. It means that now you can proceed into the second stage, with the light on or off.

However, you are saying that your  light is irregular in shape and color, meaning it is not mature. You may want to keep doing what you are doing till the light is a solid block of neon white.

As to the next step, this is the key paragraph

When the mechanism (of alchemy) begins to move and gives out flashes of light

that hall of voidness (hsu shih, i.e. the heart devoid of feelings and passions) will be illuminated by a white light

which reveals the mysterious gate (hsuan kuan), the presence of which does not mean emptiness.

Man lives and dies because of this immaterial spirit-vitality; he lives when it is present and dies when it scatters.

Hence it is said: 'Spirit without vitality does not make a man live; and vitality without spirit does not cause him to

die.' Prenatal spirit in the heart is nature and prenatal vitality in the lower abdomen is life; only when spirit and

vitality unite can real achievement be made.

  9. But I am curious.

TT, could you summarize what Charles Luk has to say about the experience?

    Sure thing.

Alchemy is defined as a union of xing and ming (whatever those are). For them to join they have to be at their fullest state. Further, one has to make xing full first. The first visual light experience is an indication of xing being full. The OP reports the light being "jittery left-hand semi-circle, flashing about 7 times per second in rainbow colors. " This means that xing is not quite mature yet.

It first happened to me when after a couple of weeks of dedicated training i walked into a dark room and before i could flip the lights on, i saw a block of white light right before my eyes, i had to shake my head to convince myself in my normalcy;). There were no smartphones back then but if you wanna see the closest thing to this light u may wanna download a flash light app on your smartphone and turn it on in in dark room.

The fullness of ming is indicated by a golden light, but this time it is not a visual experience.

  10. As futuredaze said, a perplexing shift to the right is observable on many forums now, including this one. It doesn't take very much to make even supposedly "conscious" people either show their true face,

The Hero of Cologne: How a 7ft tall hotel doorman and ex-kickboxing champ saved two women from the New Year's sex mob
    • Hotel doorman Ivan Jurcevic, 44, is being hailed as the 'hero of Cologne'

    He shifted to the right.

Speaking to MailOnline, Mr Jurcevic said: 'There were four of them, young men in their 20s, speaking Arabic. They told me not to interfere, that the girls were "theirs".

'The girls looked like they worked in a bank, they were wearing jeans and coats, nothing provocative, they were really frightened. I told them to stand behind me.'

'Then the loudest member of the gang came at me with a bottle so I kicked him in the chest and sent him flying. Another came at me so I slapped him across the face and he went over as well.

'The leader drew his finger across his throat and told me he would be back to kill me. I stood my ground and they went on their way.'

Thats just appalling. How dared he!

  11. I am currently in a prolonged stretch of cultivation practice, celibacy, stillness meditation and breathing techniques -- which is why I am wondering whether or not this might be an important (?) stage or significant moment (?) of the cultivation progression.

It is. For details you can read this

  12. Why do you think he is a 'fuzzy thinker'.

    A number of reasons:

First, he starts with uncertainty and jumps to certainty:

I would say that most employers would view hiring such a worker as a losing economic proposition, but they might hire him at $5 an hour. Thus, one effect of the minimum wage law is that of discrimination against the employment of low-skilled workers.

    Might=is=fuzzy

Second, he is concerned with disadvantages to the blacks at the exclusion of considerations for the society as a whole

The petition ends with this: “In short, raising the federal minimum to $15 an hour by 2020 will be an effective means of improving living standards for low-wage workers and their families and will help stabilize the economy. The costs to other groups in society will be modest and readily absorbed.”

He does not attempt to refute this argument.

Third, if the absence of minimum rate will improve the employment of blacks, then it will lead to the replacement of whites with blacks. Would not that be racist towards the whites? He leaves that consideration out.

Fourth, his examples of racism by minimum wage are inapplicable:

Rep. John Cochran, D-Mo., said he had “received numerous complaints in recent months about Southern contractors employing low-paid colored mechanics getting work and bringing the employees from the South.”

If  cheap labor is brought into a US state from another US state, the former state has a right to protect its citizens. Although the said labor happens to be black, there is nothing racist about that.

And finally he concludes with this epitome of fuzziness:

It is incompetence or dishonesty for my fellow economists to deny these two effects of minimum wages: discrimination against employment of low-skilled labor and the lowering of the cost of racial discrimination.

"discrimination against employment of low-skilled labor "? What is that? Is it a bad thing?

" effects of minimum wages: .... lowering of the cost of racial discrimination." Minimum wages lower the cost of racial discrimination? What's a 'cost of racial discrimination'? Is it a good thing?

    In one word: fuzzy.

  13.  Take away the negotiating rights of a black youth and it puts them at a serious disadvantage to their white counterparts. An employer is more likely to take a punt on a young black guy if the price is right. This is only one issue of minimum wages. The rest I have mentioned previously.

    hehe)

i see you are quoting Wiliams.

    https://www.lewrockwell.com/2016/01/walter-e-williams/bunch-liars-minimum-wage/

i am actually a fan of his, but he is a fuzzy thinker on this one.

The Senate Budget Committee’s blog says, “Top Economists Are Backing Sen. Bernie Sanders on Establishing a $15 an Hour Minimum Wage.” It lists the names of 210 economists who call for increasing the federal minimum wage. The petition starts off, “We, the undersigned professional economists, favor an increase in the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour as of 2020.” The petition ends with this: “In short, raising the federal minimum to $15 an hour by 2020 will be an effective means of improving living standards for low-wage workers and their families and will help stabilize the economy. The costs to other groups in society will be modest and readily absorbed.”

  14. A lot of what has happened down there doesn't make sense.

I donno. To me its obvious that demographics is the key. 2 or 3 centuries of prosperous white rule have distorted the demographics: the prosperity made whites to stop procreating while th same prosperity created a black urban boom. As an inevitable consequence he former were overran by the latter. Simple.

  15. The employer isn't. They can choose a white man over a black man. If they value the White man more then that's who will get the job.

Then the minimum wage has nothing to do with the employer's choice.

As it stands, a minimum wage is a protectionist policy for white males/ females as it stops blacks/youths/low skilled undercutting them. Black, low skilled and youth are synonymous with each other which puts them at a distinct disadvantage. It could be said that minimum wage is actually racist.

/Black, low skilled and youth / has nothing to do with minimum wage. An employer who does not like such employees would not hire them at any wage. Sorry, Karl. Does not compute.
