I can agree with that , one reason is its easier to scam people on line or remotely . A 'spell' might be insufficient . I am talking about something more powerful with a better chance of success . or an 'elaborate ceremony' might not be needed wither . It could be a silent process . If they are that powerful to stop you seeking help they would not have allowed you to post here . or to even listen to or respond to what I said above . However they might have convinced you that the only way to be free of them is via something you cannot do ; like find a special person that needs to do a face to face elaborate ceremony . No doubt he wasn't a 'snake guy ' . Saving them or not , any interaction with them , you need to understand them . And each type of snake has a different energy and stuff going on for them of course . I've been bitten by a diamond python ... I have also had one curled up inside my shirt and on my lap while I was sitting down . It depends where they are at and what you do ( and where you are at too ! ) . Any snake that needs saving is going to be in a panic or at least disturbed and on edge . I found a big diamond python caught up in bird netting ... what a mess! all around the neck and head and the body had tried to twist and constrict the 'enemy' tying the whole thing up in multi strand twisted chaos . The first part was hectic, snake hissing , trying to strike me , me using one hand to try and hold it still and one hand trying to cut away net with surgical scissors . But after a bit when I started to make some headway and relieved the pressure and the snake realized it was starting to be freed by my actions she was really good, relaxed, became placid and moved to actually help me . At the end , both of us exhausted I carried her off in my arms to a cool underbrush and left some water nearby .

Urrrgha .... Ummm , no, you misunderstood yourself . You said : " the spirit/magical realm vs. the material, " I suggest removing the vs from that ^ not this new arrangement of 'physical vs mental ' . vs means 'against, opposed to , or in contrast to '. Spirit our magic should not work or be against the material . it should not oppose it but give depth meaning and insight into the material and although it can seem in contrast to it , for many it isn't ; for example a traditional Aboriginal believe ( before invasion of the nasty people ) was 'this IS heaven ' . No separation between spiritual and material , they interweave and flow into each other .
