hunting down literature

Hi there Jen,

Here are a few proto-types of sonnets from my book " The Wayfarer Sonnets"

Influence, Wooing (31)

Ancient ways were once ritualized with fine resounding words,

Now lover's roles and comportment don't ask for consecration.

'Cause doin' what comes natural's not only for bees and birds,

When the miracle of cosmic bliss is found in procreation.

For a man in hearty effort will place his love's desire far above,

As all other striving pales, compared to his yearning for a woman.

So women abide both chased or chaste in hopes of finding love;

While time forgets how all this wooing has lasted or began.

Still, this may be just a need to bring forth generations,

As many aspects of morality, change in our Westernized times.

Now it's perfectly permissible if a she embodies love's instigation's,

Which ensures human warmth will survive these changing climes.

So as long as meaning is not forgotten, desire is most holy,

For steadfast hearts will deny all immature smarm and drollery.

The Family (37)

We learn our own humanity, long before our worldly ways,

Playing roles in our family tree, growing over time.

This nurturing incubation is the strength of all our days,

Having gleaned a force from ancestry that is truly sublime.

As inner needs move on out from our inklings to intention,

What's created in a homey hearth is the world to be.

Like a whirl of wind rising up, as if a flame's invention,

To do as I say, not do, is to be whom I wish were me...

Since a love supreme dispenses a sustained intensity,

Transcending a temporal anchorage in attempts to thrive.

The roots of such endeavors feed life's pure propensity,

Furthering like fathering a well urged need to strive.

So the beginnings of society stem from love and care,

Creating opportunities to seek and grow and share.

The Marrying Maiden (54)

The roller coaster of relationships offers many degrees of dangers,

And often enough it will crash and burn, it's meaning torn asunder.

Because we change in different ways, spouses become strangers,

Even if no fault is found, lovers split through growth and blunder.

As both sworn word and sweetheart won do lend love its credence,

Only true affection endures the vicissitudes life sends.

Then unity is held as steps are taken to thwart impedance,

And a hurtful contempt in familiarity is tempered with amends.

Being mindful of how endings often last and last,

Processions toward an outcome may be thought of inch by inch.

Since choices aren't easy to refute, once the die is cast,

Taking vows as winning hearts are both binding as a cinch.

So if caught in maelstrom or backwater, take it all in stride,

For storms and boredom come and go, like the changing tide.

These are just my attempts at poetry - & should not be thought of as traditional!!!

love to all- Pat

"The Tao of Health, Sex and Longevity", is an excellent book in my opinion, As is, Daniel Reid is an excellent author. If you like this book you should also check out his other two books, "The Complete Book of Chinese Health and Healing" and "Chi Kung, Harnessing the Power of the Universe". His books contain tons hands on material, not all the useless metaphoric  psycho babbling that you get with alot of your books on the Chinese Arts.
