Are they physical foreign species traversing the universe in space crafts, a metaphor, some sort of inter dimensional being, an illusion, ourselves (humans) or something entirely different all together?  edit: I recall @Nungali once reccomended me the book daimonic reality (https://www.amazon.com/Daimonic-Reality-Field-Guide-Otherworld/dp/0937663093).
