I wouldn't say embracing is exactly of the same connotation as transmutation.... and unless faith is combined with an unbreakable will and wisdom watch out. I am my own laboratory for this and i agree with the bold above. I remember hearing someone say "It takes a lot of energy to stay mad at someone." I was startled hearing that because i had never thought of it in those terms before. And i had a HUGE list of people and events that i carried around (and nursed and maintained) a litany of resentment, betrayal, anger. And yes that has weight. Depression has weight, it is like wearing a cement overcoat. Something heard in recovery as a precipitating factor (a rock bottom) that gets someone finally to seek recovery, is "I got sick and tired of being sick and tired." that definitely described me. Negativity can and does literally make us sick. So yes when we are able to learn tools and use them, to let go of negative emotions and not hold on to them and not carry them for weeks months years (decades in my case) then it absolutely does YES free up literal physical energy in the body, and at all levels of being (emotional, mental, spritual). It simply feels better to not be steeped in negativity. This includes negativity towards not just people, but towards places, things, institutions, systems, groups, anything that we invest and tie up and tether to us weighing us down by carrying that negativity. the same person said "Think what you would do with all that energy when it is freed up." i was just happy when i could see it starting to work, as measured by not being sick and tired all the time.
