Delson Armstrong - Kriya Yoga, Dzogchen and Theravada

Recommended Posts

Part III of this interview series with Delson Armstrong, for anyone who enjoyed the last two.

I found this one pretty fascinating. Steve is also jointly interviewing Daniel Ingram.

For those who don't know, Ingram is a bit of a controversial figure within Western Theravada, as he's one of the few people to publicly claim the attainment of arahatship. He's from the Mahasi Sayadaw lineage, but is a bit of an iconoclast in his revision of the four path model.

Delson is more traditional in many ways in the way he describes his own attainment as an anagami, and his own criteria of arahatship.

As Steve says, this is the 'dusty end of the fretboard' in the sense it discusses the nature of path after stream entry, where most of us will have to be pretty lucky to tred in this lifetime.

Whatever you might think about Ingram, I always find him really fun to listen to. His free book is a good overview of the Theravada tradition, although it offers his own spin on it in places.
