Fido Posted June 26, 2021 Does anyone know if it is ok to get daily acupuncture for a period of a week or even 1-3 months when dealing with a brand new patient (me) who has fairly moderate imbalances (possibly even Gu Syndrome). As a means of 'kick-starting' the healing process.
Desmonddf Posted June 30, 2021 It isn't recommended to get acupuncture more than once every two to three days if you're a healthy person who just wants to improve your energy flow. Acupuncture do use a lot of energy and punctures the skin and inserts a needle on your meridians. There are is very minimal damage which usually doesn't pose a problem, not even for those very sick, but can become a gate for disease with such constant usage. Look for techniques which are non invasive, such as Do-In or acupressure.
Fido Posted July 6, 2021 Thank you. I'm seeing an acupuncturist right now, I have been doing every 2 days. So far I'm feeling well, but only had 3 sessions so far, waiting to get to the 10 session mark before expecting major changes.

BigSkyDiamond Posted 3 hours ago i have never heard that from any of the acupuncturists i have gone to. The most frequency that has ever been recommended for me was for an acute condition at twice a week for 2 weeks, then back down to once a week for a few weeks. Daily acupuncutre for 2-3 months is a big red flag in my experience. I would also give my system first a chance to see how it responds to a new doctor after 1 or 2 sessions. the guidelines i use for acupuncture are: a. only go to someone who is licensed as a Doctor of Oriental Medicine (DOM). not just an acupuncturist. b. only receive acupuncture from someone who also dispenses Chinese herbs. my understanding is this extends the efficacy of the acupuncture treatment and my experience confirms that this is the case.. (for example an acupuncture treatment, and then 3-4 weeks of the herbs). c. only receive acupuncture from someone who diagnoses using the pulses. I thought they all did and then i moved to a city where i tried five different acupuncture places, and none of them diagnosed with pulses. I did not go back to any of them. big red flag.
