TCM diagnosis of kidney problems

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

For those that have some experience with TCM/acupuncture I have a question.

If someone had some form of kidney disease, for instance chronic kidney failure, would the standard diagnosis methods of pulse/tongue be able to detect it in any way?

Likewise, would someone with kidney disease necessarily exhibit symptoms of kidney yin or yang deficiency?

Do you nowadays, the TCM doctors ask their patients to visit a western doctor to give a diagnostic report. Then, the TCM doctor will come up with a prescription for the patients.

For sure, and I think that's a responsible practice. However, my question is if it's even possible to detect something like kidney disease/renal failure through TCM diagnostic methods..
