How to get rid of lust?

Recommended Posts

Decondition yourself. Look into classical conditioning and what is called extinction.

Yeah, I agree.

Another good way of deconditioning yourself may be just to spend more good quality platonic time with women. Spend more time with them as friends and equals, so that the previous associations do not rule your interactions with them.

You could also do an imprint to the 'opposite.' If you have an old and deep memory that is somehow associated with lustful behavior, you could do a ceremony which imprints the opposite action than what the memory is. If, say, your first lustful memory is in the back seat of a Chevy in 1962 (if this memory keeps coming up, it's probably the one you're seeking) you could intentionally imprint behavior that is opposite of having sex in the back seat of a Chevy. That would be a hard one to come up with, but maybe something like re-enacting taking her to a movie instead, I don't know...it's not really jumping out at me.

As to the lust in general - I would start with the mind there too. Again, ceremonializing it, finding something to signify 'not being lustful'....what could that be? Maybe taking the actions of dressing a woman as opposed to undressing her? But if you do it, do it with at least one other there; have a beginning and an end to the ceremony; maybe smudge the area first with sweetgrass, sage, or pine needles. Have music or someone beating a drum or a rattle just for the mental transport aspect, and to communicate to your soul that there's a beginning and an end to it. the most powerful way to imprint to the opposite would be to find the very thing or memory that's most specific to you.

This gets into the soul at a very deep level, if the right combination can be found, and it Bends the Light and changes the dynamic. It works best if the most childlike simplicity is achieved.

I think the "emotional blockage" comment is worthy of more focus. I have found that the cold draw is effective at reducing the physical desire, but one thing I discovered after eliminating physical desire is how much emotional issues played into things as well. I think it is important to observe with in yourself what types of emotions you have about sex so that you can identify what the real emotional issue is.

For example if one pretty much simply wants to "get off" in the physical sense this could point to a root chakra blockage. If they want to be able to seduce women for their ego than this points towards a solar plexus issue, ect... So trying to decipher what type of emotions drive your libido is helpful in bringing balance.

Decondition yourself. Look into classical conditioning and what is called extinction. You've conditioned yourself (as many have, including I) to associate the female form with the desire for pleasure and release of tension. What really worked for me as a way to decondition was to watch porn and contemplate impermanence and death. This may sound kind of morbid, but it really works. You can imagine that the bodies are decaying. Really imagine what's underneath the skin, all of the muscle tendons and organs and skeleton. Contemplate how those females are just human beings who live normal lives full of suffering with momentary happiness. There is an actual person over there, not just a sexual object. That's how you decondition yourself.

I have been having the problem of my sexual organ becoming irritated even when i have no conscious sexual thoughts.

I have this under control a while ago but it only occurred after going through a long time of complete celibacy where I never masturbated not even non-ejaculatory masturbation. Then I masturbated again without real desire for it, and the irritation started again regularly.

I feel like now... because I masturbated without ejaculation, that I must start all over again and go into full ejaculation and then restart the non-masturbatory practice.

And of course the reason I want to stop masturbating is to conserve energy while I'm not dating.
