  1. Energy dissipation is one of the biggest factors holding one back from spiritual progress. Diet is probably the worst culprit - a huge subject and one i am not going into here. Regarding sugar drinks, coffee and booze - please note - as you dive into spiritual practice your energy will shoot through the roof - at least some of the time. It is at percisely those times that sugar drinks, coffee, alchohol and festive eating tend to come into play as a way of dissipating these energy fuctuations. Meditation or physical practice - even just walking is a better companion to these highs. The quiet in your life will also increase and stimulants may be a way of hanging on to previous patterns. Loneliness may also increase and depressants such as alcohol may not be helpful. Another can be actual chemical imbalances or toxicity problems and they should not be overlooked - mercury levels, lead levels and inherited issues should be at least peripherally examined. As an example - it is not uncommon for a young person to be found to have very high mercury levels - particularly women. Eating tuna is cheap and lean and high in mercury. Now - changing the above problems are generally very simple things to do and there is no need to become worried about your spiritual asperations on account of food problems - the wide swath that is afforded in most countries these day for eating healthy makes this simple - but do take it into account - if you are young as so many seekers are - you may well eat with abandon and not understand that you are training for the olympics.
  2. Here are some useful tools for seeing as well as general meditation. Counting from 100 to 0 and from 0 to 100 simultaneously during meditation. Several things happen when doing his - for one thing it is pretty much impossible to think while you are doing this. You will also generally see the count in front of you - one scaling down and the other scaling up - meeting at 50-50. As you practice this more the process can become like a mantra somewhat but it tends to require focus. Close your eyes and magine your favorite food - or car - or place - something you have an affinity for. If you have been having a problem with seeing or you think you have a problem seeing things - imagining things, this exercise can often show you very clearly that you have no problem seeing things at all - (and for some of you poor souls - you will suddenly become hungry, want to buy a car and go on a trip During your waking state with eyes open Concentrate on being aware of your widest peripheral vision areas as well as all that is in between. If you move your awarenss from normal to wide you may also notice it affects your hearing. This practice will affect your focus - not just visually but your thoughts and mindset. You will notice energy entering the eyes and your energy will be considerably more in your head and space than out in front of you.
  3. Water fasting

I have fasted many times over a span of 40+ years. My first fast was for 5 days and it was a water fast. If you are going to fast you should also plan to do enemas - otherwise I would not recommend fasting. I have always fasted for the spiritual benifits but the health benifits are incredible as well. All of the negative experiences I have ever heard of regarding fasting were related to a lack of prior research, poor advice and ending the fast improperly. Your 3rd day will be the roughest day of a fast - from the 4th or 5th day onward it will be very energizing and exciting. Schedule your week with the understanding that you will not want to be doing anything on the third day other than staying at home. I suggest you have all the supplies you need for that day - all the books, music or video you may want - food etc. I have juice fasted more than water fasting and I like both - recently I returned to water fasting. I water fast from 8-10 days. I juice fast from 18-23 days. Their are quite a number of jobs you can have and excell at while fasting - and by the way - you have more and more energy as the days pass during a fast - not less and less. Jobs requiring lots of transitions, lots of actual mental intensity, heavy physical jobs, construction jobs - these will require that you set aside time to fast outside of working. If you do a short fast - I highly suggest you do one for at least 5 days because you want to get to the fun stuff and you will definitely start to feel the benifits of a fast on the 4th and even more on the 5th day of a fast. Now - a story about my first fast - a water fast. I was 19 or 20 yrs old and in very good physical condition. I was fully mentally prepared and expected no problems and no stress - and I had no problems or stress. I did have to learn to give myself an enema - and by the way - I did not buy into any formulas for clearing my bowels ahead of time - I was a vegetarian anyway and young so impaction was not on my radar (I was also not concerned about toxicity levels). On the third day i woke up and upon going to the bathroom i looked in the miror - and my nose had grown a beard!!!!!! It was very strange to look at myself with what appeared to be a 3 day beard on my nose. Upon closer inspection what looked like a beard was actually the result of my nose pores expulsing the oils and other things that normally abide in them - It was a "beard" made of pore goop all uniformily pushed out and staring at me in the mirror. The cleaning aspect of fasting could not be more vividly displayed! On the third day my tongue was like a fuzzy dirty rug, my breath could kill a cat, and my main objective in life was to take showers, brush my teeth, exfoliate (brush) my skin and lay in bed - read - whatever. On the 4th day I had what felt like a brand new tongue with fresh running water in it - the motley mouth of the day before was gone. My energy was way up and I went out and about with - allot of time on my hands. It is surprising how much time we normally spend on eating, drinking and preparing to eat and drink. My perception of everything - particularly of air and light increase in intensity. My typical inertia was replaced by a calmness in the present. A whole lightness of being unfolds in a very supernatural way.
  4. How do you open the third eye? I would suggest you view the following: The following video address contains the finest overview of meditation and the general progression of the path both in substance and visually that I have seen. Real teaching - online - anytime - pretty much all subjects - incredible! A short bit about the path: I am a huge fan of groups - groups with a good intent - (finding a good intent requires to many acres of writing for this post but let me get to the heart of what I am saying). I have been in a number of spiritual groups and in all cases it was hard to hide in them - it was inspiring to be in them - and they were all good for my own practice outside the group work. All of them were political - they all had competition pervading them - energies were heightened - sensitivities open - they were a big squash pot of newness and exploration all the while the fresh beauty and attractions of other members was close and appealing or appaulling and repellent - and you were expected to keep it all together with deliberate self control in neutrality! In all of the cases I learned alot about myself and opened up to new ways of looking at something. I felt my limitations, found ground in areas that i used to look at from afar and each time learned to encompass more, live with more and feel more.. Along with meditation I am also a big proponent of Fasting and Qi Gong. Both fasting and Qi Gong act as a sort of Chiropractic for ones energy systems. If you look at the aura of a typical person it is frequently quite thin in the back and well forward in the front. Most auras do not envelope the person past the knees if that far down and many of the colors are cloudy and patchy. You can be a born again athiest and go on a healthy fast and at the end of it your aura will be noticeably smooth, encompass your entire physical body and the colors will be refreshingly clear and vibrant. (and you will probably have given up the notion of athiesm). This is also true of Qi Gong - a very quick way to increase vitality and clear oneself of knots and compressions of energy blocking the flow of Qi throughout our bodies. The basic exercises can be learned within weeks and the results are excellent from day one. These simple things can be cast off as diversions to the "great work" but if your head is not clear you can be paddeling in a circle for years. Mechanical measures to bring you back to your more authentic attunement have a great place in any practice. They are perhaps the most important - like a shock - but self induced - they take all the crayons off the table and put the paper in the basket and when you are done you start from scratch with no dirty dishes in your way.
  5. When this opening took place - initially it was during a lecture - I was immediately attuned to the pure physicality of the experience. My head was undergoing an amazingly powerful and wholly foreign energy feeling. Later this feeling changed to the center of my head and during meditation many things were different. For one thing, this opening gave me tremendous validation and a renewed resolve to forge ahead with my practice. At this point, many things began to unveil themselves - sometimes futures were seen and I could dissipate their course and change them or simply learn to trust the vision and eventually Know its realness. An understanding of thoughtforms and being in a thoughtform dimension - wanting to really learn to control my thoughts in order to participate on those dimensions. Seeing auras - with my eyes open - hearing suble sounds - seeing the air - telepathy (with animals included). Viewing my planning on this life prior to taking on the body. Seeing feelings in others. It is hard to discribe - I will say that there are no "secret teachings" but there are teachings that cannot be taught until those being taught can actually understand and make use of what you are teaching. Subtle energy and changes of this sort such as the opening of the 3rd eye are not the black and then bright light that our thinking is habituated to. Imagine - you are looking out a window - you see quite clearly all sorts of things - you learn to know them - they become familiar. Then you step outside the door and for the first time you are actually IN the outside. It is still all very familiar but many things are new - the temperature - the wind - the humidity to name a few. You would at once be more aware of your body and your space within the new context - then you move on to the "new" things outside of you. It is also interesting to note just how fast all of this newness becomes absorbed and in a sense taken for granted. It is also a time that I had prepared for - I had prepared for it in the sense that I was determined not to let these gigantic steps lead me astray and start writing books and teaching all the while not having a clue what had really just happened. I already had a whole group of very good teachers that did not have any real knowledge about what they were teaching. Their are some very fine diferences between the 6th chakra and the center of the head - I cannot talk to you about them from some tradition because I did not progress within a tradition but I have found clear discussion of them in Tantric Yoga. The whole head region includes so many abilities - not all associated with the 6th or center of the head - such as telepathy. From that day foreward, my head feels a strong magnetic field that now extends outside of my skin by a foot or more. The intensity of this field is affected by my level of self awareness and it is also affected by the alchemy (vibration) of the surroundings and interactions. As an example: if i start to think of meditation or remember to take a deep breath - this field will increase noticeably. During meditation - it becomes very very strong - particularly now after so many years and so many other steps. Even as you make a leap like this it takes time to Know and no longer Believe - to go from "did I just see that" to viewing it - and then to viewing it from a position of no inertia.
  6. When I was younger (I'm 58) bookstores that had the type of information one seeks towards enlightenment were only found in small stores. They were openly advertised as "Occult Bookstore". Yoga was exotic and generally unknown and acid, peyote and grass were often the starting points for the "serious". We watched the Beatles with gurus and flocks of us flew to India and elswhere. Today, the wonderful and still blossoming new age is upon us - and just as we find in all ages - it is very well dusted with all sorts of people flat on their faces stuck in some rythym with no rhyme. We are in a new paradigm - we are releasing our dying religions - we have moved to a higher vibration. This angnst regarding crystals or mediumship - lizards and granola - (put your nose over a cup of coffe and breath it in - then pull you head out of your assumptions). What puffery! We always have and will always have those moving up the ladder that have as yet to reach what we consider to be our more breathtaking view of life (and our more breathtaking levels of en-jailment). We watch someone headlong dive into mediumship - initially relatively sound of mind and body - but soon they are dismembered by the experience. We see someone take diet and crystals into the extreme and with shock we lump it into the notion of a whacky "new age" thing. What egotistical slop - getting stuck is nothing new. Go to India - it is a shopping market for those that have taken a spritual dive off the deep end - and - it is also an amazing world of great teaching and great teachers. In the United States in particular take a look at what is happening within the more popular old time religions - it is much harder to find the sane among them than those waltzing into walls - they are actually experiencing a re-embrace of ignorance - it is shocking. But what is it in you that must laugh and mock at those of us that loose our way in the fog - the fog is by nature blinding and befuddeling. Some part in us seeks a way, a light, a beep for direction. Don't try to shower off the New Age - shower off instead your ego - the invenstment you have in your story - the one where you are "on the path" and "know" something. Once when I was a child I knew that I would die if I did not get a certain toy. Once when I was a youth I knew that everyone noticed the zit on my nose. Once I knew that my parents didn't have a clue and all my teachers were idiots. Think you know all about auras - meditation - the path? If you do - I am at your feet - and I hope you are willing to help me - my face has been stuck on this pavement way too long.
  7. Hi, I'm a christian and my Kundalini is awakening. Please Help :)

You might find some "mechanical" tools very helpful. But first: Diet is very important to understand and given all the conflicting ideas out there it can be dificult to ferret out the wholistic approach but lets say: Drop the refined sugars - flours etc.No sugar soda drinks. Best to drop the stimulants (coffee). Alchohol is a depressent. Don't eat late (less than 2 hours before sleep). Whole foods etc. - read up on it. Now for the tools: Fasting is one of the best ways to recalibrate oneself to a more authentic and original cadence. My first fast was water only for 5 days - it was exceptional. For years I did juice fasting - typically 18 - 23 days and also very good. I have gone back to water fasting - typically 8-10 days. You should definitely do enemas when fasting or don't do them. Be sure to read up on fasting before doing it - it helps you both psychologically and strategically. (hint: the third day of a fast is always the worst and you do not want it to land on a work day). By the way - if you are well prepared - the worst day is not bad at all - you will just have really bad breath and want to take 3 showers and sleep or lay in bed most of the day. Qi Gong is also phenomenal as an everyday recalibration practice. Qi Gong and Fasting are somewhat like Chiropractic - each of us becomes habituated to our way of carrying ourselves. Chiropractic adjusts our posture and "breaks" up tension formed posture. Fasting and Qi Gong quickly clear up energy knots as well as allowing for an infusion of energy back into places that have been "out of favor" and not in habituation. Both of these practices will bring about a much more balanced aura, calmness within energy, and the general removal of many "tapes" - endless loops that play within our heads - parts of our ego that we protect and fortify. Along with daily meditation - (I suggest one minute for each year you are old) - the tools above will help you change any negative or stuck life view you have of yourself. Together they will enable you to remodel your inner house without having to hire a designer. You are a spotless being - nothing is tainted in any way - you may have dissipated your lifeforce and your mind my have possessed your days but inside you have a clean unfettered beingness that is always there for you.
  8. What led up to the opening of my third eye was not in anyway forced. I spent several years reading, practicing meditation, yoga, inverting, fasting, breathing, vegetarian - all with one focus: stilling my mind, learning the practice. Any forcing was considered by me then and now both dangerous and off the path. My meditation was always from the center of my head - I mention this because often meditation is more unconscious than it might be. I became involved with a Gurdgieff / Ouspensky school as well - later - about 8 months before the event. The opening took place in a most unexpected place and time, I say unexpected place and time because I frequently meditated for hours but this is not where it took place: I was about 22 yrs old. I had actually come to the conclusion that week that while all of my efforts had been done with due dilligence, and the fruits had been great, that I was not moving forward in any real way that I had on some levels expected given the effort and patience. Then - having decided to move on from this work - I attended one last lecture - it was from a spriitual teacher. The group agreement was one of self remembering and close observance. I was standing there when suddenly my entire face felt like it was being pressured from a large magnet. My cheeks and nose and forehead all were being pushed upon - nothing I had read or been taught gave me any notion of what was happening. I asked a senior student if I could have a word with him and we went into another room - in there I experienced telepathy for the first time as well - the senior student was unable to offer much help - but he did pinpoint that it might be my third eye or 6th chakra. It was a great day! Regarding other things leading up to this event: Within meditation - a tension at times in the center of the head and slightly forward. a tunnel in a sense with the sides moving by. a vibration of a ball of light in the middle forhead. (I started to include other things but they came later)
