  1. Diet and lack of energy

Wow, I totally forgot I made this post. I also don't like to mix eating and drinking, it dilutes the stomach acid and makes digestion slower# (and maybe even use more energy?). Thanks for all your input, I'll look into this acorus calamus root. Thanks for the tip.
  2. Diet and lack of energy

Hello, could someone give me some diet tips because I think what I eat might cause me to loose energy. When I do my qigong practice about an hour after breakfast I end up not wanting to do it due to lack of energy. Before eating breakfast I always have enough energy but I'm just hungry and I can't focus on qigong. So what I started doing is just having a small snack instead of breakfast. These past few days I've been eating a few handfuls of peanuts to get rid of my hunger. Then I have plenty of energy for qigong. For some reason eating anything other than very small amounts of food makes me lose energy.
  3. The Tendon Changing Classics

Is it OK to do those with the eyes closed? I like to do an hour or two of seated chi gung before I go to bed, and I find having the eyes closed gets me into a very nice state for bed.
  4. Chu Nei Kung DVD: Opinions?

Thank you for that confidence inspiring reply
  5. Chu Nei Kung DVD: Opinions?

Hello, I recently bought the Chu Nei Kung DVD and after seeing the first exercise I need to ask for opinions on it. I know absolutely nothing about this, so I can only ask those who know. His first exercise looks exactly like the three circle stance / wu chi position except the back is bent, and looks like you're curling forward a little (concave as he says). I want to know if this is a different stance? OR is he attempting to do three circle and getting it wrong (I'm paranoid about "masters" not doing their practice correctly, ie their master wasn't really a master at all.) Any insight would be much appreciated, Thanks
  6. Hi, I have been reading this site, learning about the tendon changing exercises. He says there are 24 in total, eight for each section of the body (upper, middle, and lower) yet he only describes seven exercises. Plus, his descriptions are all in text, which isn't exactly useful. So I want to ask, does anyone know any sites or DVD's that show in video the entire set of muscle changing exercises? Also I guess it would be a good idea to ask if these exercises are any good at increasing the strength of the tendons and muscles? I assume they are. Thank you Astralogic
  7. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

Thanks for your help Lloyd I did my regular practice yesterday just fine, I think I may also be able to do it again today. Hopefully this tired spell has worn off now. I've heard that any practice that clears out your energy bodies blockages can at first either cause mild cold-like symptoms or tiredness as the energy body is stimulated initially. I was hoping (and still am really) that the tiredness was because of that (I have a shocking amount of blockages). Is this kind of thing unheard of in Qigong? I didn't mean to imply that the tiredness was due to boredom. I am going to stick with these first three meditations for now because, how can I describe it, I just enjoy how they feel and have no need to progress just yet. I'm going to try to make the first two DVD's last a whole year (as Sifu Terry advises). As of yet no, I haven't practiced any MSW meditations. Once I feel I've practiced MGAM, BTB and seated MGAM I'll move on to the next three. I follow (roughly) Terry's FP schedule that is on his site but I feel like two week segments are way too short, I would like a two to three months at the very least. (although to be honest I don't know if that's recommended or not). Thank You Calvin
  8. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

Hello everyone, I have a couple of questions that I'm pretty sure haven't been answered yet. My usual practice is MGAM, then BTB then the seated MGAM, each one for approximately fifteen minutes. I am planning on adding another round of BTB after the seated MGAM. Is that OK? Or should multiple rounds of one mediation be performed back to back? I have been following the above schedule (sometimes add another seated MGAM before bed) since five weeks ago, however the last week I have not been able to practice due to being too tired. I don't know where this tiredness comes from, is this related to FP? I haven't changed anything in my life that could account for this recent lack of energy. Any ideas? Any help appreciated. Thanks Calvin
  9. Anytime Astralogic, if there is ever any further questions then feel free to ask and I will answer to the best of my ability, and I hear ya on the no money thing, sure slows things down for me too... :)

  10. Thanks Shen for the information, very interesting indeed. However I will stick to FP for now. Learning something like Wing Chun would be amazing, but it's not something I could start anytime soon (no money).

    Again, thanks.

  11. Hope I was a good help Astralogic, I've shown you a few doors so hopefully one of them is your door! good luck on your martial journey! :)

  12. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

Thanks Malganis. I have another question. What is the most efficient way to practice half an hour of any of the basic standing meds? What's the best amount of time to make one round? Edit: What I mean here is if I were to practice one single meditation for 30 minutes. Not do several. Or is it better to just do one long round, and not break it up? And does the same rule apply to all the other basic meds (both standing and sitting)? This is definitely the best qigong I've ever practiced.
  13. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

Thanks for all the help you give us here Terry. One thing I'm not clear on though, in Monk Gazes at Moon, when standing the eyes are open but when sitting they are closed. Is that right?
  14. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

If I want to practice Monk Gazes at Moon for half an hour do I repeat the sequence on the video several times until half an hour is up or do I just hold the position once for the full mount of time? In other words, do I do the three full breaths to begin, then the breath percentage sequence, then the three full closing breaths only once?
  15. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

Thank you Terry for answering. I have one more question (to anyone who knows really). I just practiced the first DVD all the way through (my first FP practice) and ran into a slight annoyance. After being in the low horse stance for a few minutes my left foot seemed to constantly slide to the left making my stance get slowly wider. I needed to constantly make corrections to my stance because of this. Will continued practice correct this in time? Also why do you think it happens? Are the muscles in my thighs and hips weak? PS: Also, this is completely off topic but a fascinating question just popped into my mind. Does anyone know the Chinese/Taoist take on Kundalini? If anyone could link me to some information about it from a Taoist perspective (not yogic/indian) you would make my day. I feel that FPCK has the potential to re-awaken my Kundalini, but I have only known about this energy from a yogic/indian perspective, never Taoist.
