  1. The Ho-Shang Kung Commentary on Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching by Heshang Gong (Author), Lao Tzu (Author), Dan G. Reid (Translator) Amazon link Dan G. Reid (not to be confused with Daniel P. Reid, author of ā€œThe Tao of Health, Sex, and Longevityā€). I have only seen (and own) the one commentary of HSG on the DDJ... Here is another
  2. [DDJ Meaning] Chapter 25

I played with the last lines for a long time, once before, and I like 'model' (Lau uses it). In this way, the 'sequence' would suggest as you say: by being modeled on earth we are modeled on Dao. Man vs King. This has a history of debate but seems it is not required to be so distinct. Chan in his translation notes that there are versions with 'man' instead and writes in his notes: "the king here is representative of men. Moreover, in chapter 16 and 39, Heaven, Earth and Man are spoken of together. Wagner's translation of Wang Bi's notes are explained as his (WB) quoting a text that seems to appear to say man is the most exalted being and the king is highest of men... and thus WB supports the use of Man. But Wagner says the entire section is trying to show that WB "intends to show why the king is not great but only 'also great' (see The King is also Great--Lau). He is also great because Heaven and Earth have given the highest endowment to humans and he is their lord. He is not intrinsically great but also great by this endownment."
  3. [DDJ Meaning] Chapter 23

失: Loss, mistake, neglect, miss, fail It is an interesting set of sentences that are essentially in parallel meaning, such as: 失-者-同-ę–¼-失 loss-person-same-ah! (alas)-loss There may be some leeway for a meaning of 'cautious' (cautious person) but maybe less so here.
  4. [DDJ Meaning] Chapter 18

Yes... kind of an entropy unfolding from the Dao (natural way) to Man (intentional way). I think your finishing with the idea that from man's point of view, these are 'good' but nonetheless not necessarily without interference. What is interesting to note is that ch. 17 & 18 are in Guodian C and 18 starts, 'therefore' and the two are a single chapter there. Can also note that the first words to describe the first descent is 'ren' and 'yi' (There is benevolence and justice--Lin) both of which are important concepts in Confucianism. Remember that the Heaven and Earth is said to be 'not ren' in ch. 5.
  5. Yellow jelly like semen after retention?

There are two sides of this that you should likely find out which one is at work. 1. Sperm volume is denser/thicker and jells up. This can occur with certain tonics too. 2. Certain disorders interfere with liquidity of sperm and can cause it to coagulate.
  6. I think there are three basic reasons: 1. readiness - most asian countries have a history of dealing with outbreaks and have a prepareness the west tends to not have in terms of mobilizing and implementing in very short order. 2. containment - this helps explain many countries quick 'lockdown' including why china did not spread so much; for other countries, their containment was mostly in not allowing transportation as well. 3. public enforcement - yes, the public has to participate in a way that supports the first two points. A government cannot enforce this alone. I would pick some countries and study their quick actions vs very slow actions. You will find some very telling stories.

I'd recommend you start a thread on that and ask for member input; Is purging half the opinions on the forum, balance ? Is the newer forum more balanced when members like Spotless and Walker leave/are pushed out ? Is replacing right conspiracy and hate messages with left conspiracy and hate messages balancing the forum? If folks like this kind of 'balance' then so be it.

That had a context as does the fact that I went to him several times over several issues. Despite what he gave in his absence for authority, I still went to him on issues. The board seems far less balanced now.

Using 'most' would only make it more believable but not necessarily true. Most of the members who have departed were not alt-right. It has already been mentioned elsewhere, those banned in the first wave were not due to politics but infractions. The second wave seemed less political bans but disruptions. And most of those who left (some had no affiliation to the right but simply disgusted with the fallout) have been members here 10-15 years. Like everyone on the board, left-center-right, they have grown of their own accord over the years, had many fights, been suspended, etc. I don't think you have enough history here to know of the 'endless wars this board seems to attract' (paraphrase of our owner). When you see war after war, you see a pattern to them as well. They didn't have my blessing. When I raised the issue early on, I allowed the instructions I was given from above, to "let it go". Is that better? The forum still has the same forces that caused the problems. You can't replace right conspiracy and hate with left conspiracy and hate and expect it to get better here. If you really want to connect all the dots, and they have been shared, I can talk in PM.

Not sure why the iPad is not consistent in starting a sentence as capitalized. I had to even fix the first sentence.

    I include myself. Thanks.

re-read. Youā€™ll see Iā€™ve been mentioning the recent departures. That is the topic at the start and my comment at the start was quoted.

well, your post caught me off guard but made me realize what you and Ralis were coming from. Maybe more words would of helped in some posts to make certain statements clear.
  14. Forum member "spotless". Missing messages.

no problem. Iā€™ve stayed focused on the topic and didnā€™t catch references were meant for an earlier time. Ok, that is my bad. But not 100% who left in either time are all aligned to the right.
  15. Forum member "spotless". Missing messages.

nope. All my posts are about the topic of recent departures. Ralis added in the previous departures.
  16. Forum member "spotless". Missing messages.

see my other response. I think weā€™re talking two different departure of members. I was trying to stay on topic of the OP. Those that just left weā€™re not all right wingers. Including Spotless named in the title. so Iā€™m talking the recent departures. Maybe we add Walker now.

I realized what is going on... Ralis and you are posting off topic. The topic was, where is Spotless and other members like Jeff. I responded to that. Ralis is talking about an earlier departure of members. Elsewhere Ilum rightly said right wingers were asked to leave but those banned were due to infractions. the later departures seem to me what the OP raised. i think you are over-thinking things.

I donā€™t know Lori and if itā€™s something at another site (or closed one), I was not aware of anything with her. If she didnā€™t give her permission to have here say spread here, Iā€™d likely not talk myself if I knew. Iā€™ve heard stories though. Somethings I donā€™t agree with and would not do myself but I only know stories and not facts from both side. i think I realize your comments now, about my offer of a PM. I meant that for finding Spotless at another website, as he is in the title. I never got a request. Iā€™m good and working from home with or without the virus. I like it that way.

you made a completely false statement. If you donā€™t know every last person in depth enough to make such a false comment then itā€™s delusional, right? why not say something people can believe, like , most were...

since when did I ever do such a thing? are you ok?

Thatā€™s a worse lie than any Trump told but include Spotless as he is part of the topic and my response.
  22. China is arguably the most racist nation there is... and while that does not negate anti-chinese racism, it is somewhat shifting sand to start using one's own concepts of morality and racism (or the lack of, in CCP) to claim king of the racist mountain.
  23. These are not racist statements. Southern Chinese proudly have the saying of the 4 legs that the northerners view with some disgust. The two next are statements of fact. certainly, people can have their opinion on what wildlife or other animal practices or consumption to curb or stop but that doesnā€™t mean itā€™s racist as has been shared so far here.
  24. Can agree with first two points. My 'instead' means, aside from the wildlife ban that doesn't really help on origins, I'm not seeing anything substantive on the virus origins from china. Happy to read a useful link aside from wildlife bans. This back and forth started about origin issues. So, china has pushed the US Army idea and vehemently denied Lab release where both have brought forth no evidence and denying other countries access to investigate the latter. They have tightened any publications as requiring review before release to contain what is shared now. They pushed the bat angle but have been saying that for months. A bat from Yunnan (how far from Wuhan?) comes closest in the virus signature but couldn't transmitted it to man... so an intermediate is required... the pangolins were pushed too... but we're back to neither one is shown to be sold there. This is all old news. I don't see anything new coming out of China. The US embassy had visited the lab in Jan. 2018 and sent back warnings about research on bat coronavirus. An Israeli Intelligence Officer in Jan. 2019 was maybe the first to speculate something about the Wuhan Lab. It certainly seems reasonable to want to investigate the lab to help further establish potential issues there, or eliminate them. Allowing an international team of scientist in would be something new.
  25. Neither the pangolins nor bats are confirmed as sold at the Wuhan wet markets, which are now re-opened... so whatever they are trying to do with wildlife bans doesn't seem to move the needle towards understanding the origin of the virus. Instead, what is spread is that the US Army made the virus and brought it to the 2019 World Military Games in Wuhan.
