  1. Why I can't copy the posts

Not sure if it is worth your efforts, but maybe this will help: https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=zh-CN&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.thedaobums.com%2Fprofile%2F545-daeluin%2F%3Fdo%3Dcontent%26type%3Dforums_topic_post%26change_section%3D1&edit-text=
  2. Do you have 馬陰藏相?

I think an important distinction here is that the jing is able to flow within the stillness, and the resulting "hard on" in men is a great way of describing being aroused without having desire. It is the traces of desire within that will quickly lead to nocturnal emissions as the jing pressure builds up. I have certainly noticed that as I cultivate over a period of time, that my testicles will become drawn in closer to the body, yet I think this is not something difficult to accomplish, and that my jing is not really full, just that my reproductive organs are in more of a holding pattern, as the jing is being used up by other processes. This seems different than actually working with the jing, allowing it to become full and still, which I assume requires a good deal more diligence in removing and maintaining an emptiness of desire. And then again different from reaching a stage of reproductive dormancy where the testicles may actually draw up into the body, something I've heard of but am not sure at what point this is accomplished. Perhaps after one is able to transform precelestial jing into precelestial qi.

    Unnecessary post.
  4. I've recently become aware of the three realms of illusion, form and formless... so is this thread talking about the illusory form in this human realm, or is it talking about the form realm, that uses what humans call emptiness as form in the form realm? Also, it seems that the human illusory body is uniquely potenteized to cultivate the form and formlessness, using the anchoring of this illusory body to unify the "soul group" of souls that exist on these higher planes into one entity that can travel all three realms... apparently this is the type of "ascension" known as "descension", where the higher souls and oversoul are integrated into the body. Another interesting facet of this illusory realm is the tales of humans stumbling into the other realms accidentally, in times when these other realms were more accessible when wandering through deep forests and misty, mysterious parts of earth. My personal opinion is that, just like this process of "descension", as the biodiversity of species on earth increases, and the refinement of how they all harmonize with each other increases, we develop these highly sophisticated - yet incredibly delicate - ecosystems. Within this harmony, within the refined energies between these individual species, is the operation of the planet itself working with the process of "descension", becoming an anchor to these other realms. Conversely, destroying these delicate balances pushes these realms further away, just as humans push spirit away by being unrefined and ever distracted. Continuing the exploration, I think this relates to beliefs of a "flat earth".... more specifically, that as all these realms are anchored more closely together, we have more mysterious phenomena in operation, that bends the laws of physics as we know them. Rather than thinking of it literally as a flat earth, I think it is more easily thought of as space that is non-linear, where there is quite a bit of density existing and being held between these illusory atomic particles, such that when when one moves between these particles, what seems like a single human pace may be like crossing leagues of distance. We can talk about what happens when a human transcendent reaches all the way through - but what happens when a planetary transcendent reaches all the way through?
  5. Zhuang zi translations recommendations

Might just be a personal thing, but when I read the other translations I find myself struggling to comprehend them, but when I read this one everything seems very logical. There are lots of reviews on amazon with more specifics, just wanted to offer up another perspective. Good luck!
  6. Zhuang zi translations recommendations

Hi Mig, Personally I've found these translations to be hard to access clear meaning in, but have found Brook Ziporyn's translation to be incredibly lucid and accurate. Highly recommended.
  7. Great Adepts are a shadowy presence. Mediocre Adepts are loved and honored. Lesser Adepts are awesome and feared. Hypocrites are reviled and defied. Great Adepts use words sparingly. Put great store in what they say! When they complete something, the hundred families say: "It happened of itself." dao de jing 17, tl Liu Ming One of the keys, I feel, to being a warrior of peace, lays in leading things to emptiness. When things are led toward emptiness, even if they only take a few steps, they become a few steps closer to forming synchronistic relationships with everything else. This is where things begin to happen of themselves. Perhaps a warrior of peace is like a hidden conductor of the orchestra that leads itself in perfect harmony.
  8. New Layout

OK, new round of adjustments. Cover photos may now be added to the profile... apparently that was disabled by default. Signatures are now enabled again, which apparently was also disabled by default. Default return behavior in editor is now new line (the way it used to be) instead of new paragraph. All Activity stream no longer displays when people thank stuff, change profile photos, follow members, or follow content. Activity stream WILL show new member registrations, but not sure if it shows up until the new member is approved, in which case it won't show up at the top, but down the list (in the time slot when it was created): We've tested Guest permissions and ensured that these visitors cannot see areas they should not see. We've tested some of the changes to the new member registration and approval process and things seem to be good here too.

My teacher, early in his training, would explore different external styles, looking for the right style for him. He's a sincere person, and learned all he could from these styles before he'd move on. One such style (I don't remember the name), required taking blows during training. They learned to do their forms while being hit all over their body, and did it well. However, they were also required to trade blows with each other, and he'd often be faced against someone three feet taller than him who likely looked much like the quoted caricature. At some point he became a little frustrated with the futility of standing there and taking the punch, so he started disappearing. He just wouldn't be there. His teachers got upset about it, but his point was more that if it's about winning and losing, they couldn't win if they couldn't hit him. I think this may have been one starting point for his looking for internal styles, which were difficult to find back then. Today he teaches us to be invisible in two-person work. Another story is from when he was at a (I think it was silk reeling) seminar, and one of the sessions was push hands. At this point he had already developed some internal skill, and due to his sincere practice it was pretty refined. He agreed to participate, and it wasn't long before people started saying "hey, did you practice with him? It's like he isn't even there." And the next night he didn't return to the push-hands session. There wasn't much point, and nothing to prove. Back in college, I had a friend in the Aikido club, and would show up from time to time. One of the teachers was a little old lady, so pleasant to be around. Not very strong at all, not much over 5 feet tall. But her skill was high. It didn't matter if people tried to use force on her, they'd just find it used against them. Pretty much the same principle of not being there, but while also adeptly leading the opponents force as they try to find you. These are refined skills, that take sincere time and careful practice to develop, often under the instruction of a good teacher.

I recall, when being in and out of my training, I would sometimes be dealing with stiffness, aches, pains. And then I'd stop training and feel just fine. I wasn't moving my qi so it was fine to stay stuck in the muscle knots and bones. Thing is, this only lasts so long... as youth fades to age, it becomes harder and hard to ignore the stiffness, and the strength of yuan qi in the body is fading, making these things more apparent and less easy to work out, even when doing qigong. Thankfully I'm still in my 30's, and have learned this lesson. So I go more deeply into my training, work past the more surface level stiffnesses, be gentle with myself and don't force anything, and over time I get deeper and deeper, to the point where I am beginning to understand more circularity with the energies in the body and prevent some of the excesses of energy waste, while simultaneously preventing qi stagnation, or at least attempting to deal with it soon after it develops. I've much more to prove to myself about learning to stay healthy, with good vitality, than I do by trying to best someone in combat. I get the feeling I've done that plenty in past lives. What is the meaning of being a warrior of peace?
  11. Taiji Master fighting MMA guy

I recall something my teacher said once a while back, related to the time it takes an external artist to reach their peak of abilities as opposed to the time it takes an internal artist to reach their peak, which is obviously longer, as in decades. When the internal artist reaches their peak they are more powerful. Also, the internal artist is going to age with the ability to continue practicing their art, while the external artist is going to lose their ability to move in the same ways as they age.
  12. not sure yet

OK, so these are related to comments on gallery images, blogs, calendar entries, and reviews on products - all stuff related to other forum software products we don't use.
  13. not sure yet

Also, while I might leave followers enabled, I did manually disable the "recent profile visitors", so that's another user setting that can't be disabled in the back-end from being publicly viewable, but can be disabled by anyone in their own profile settings: OK maybe I'm just enjoying posting images too much.
  14. not sure yet

It's in the back-end? I was able to change mine on my own. As usual in a spot that might need to be stumbled upon to make use of: @Taomeow I've been using the image drag-n-drop feature all day... has been extremely pleasant to use. BTW, does anyone know what "comments" and "reviews" are? Not sure if a "comment" is the same as a "reply" or is something else... and no clue what a "review" is... guess I should find out.
  15. not sure yet

Sorry, that's a backend setting only - showing it here so we know what options are available for carving the block.
  16. New Layout

Sorry, I didn't specify that this was an admin setting. It doesn't look like there are options to let members chose which fields are public themselves - see my last post, I've disabled pretty much all the custom fields preemptive to a discussion about what people/staff think is best.
  17. New Layout

OK, so I've read a bunch of this thread, and people have a lot of concerns about profile publicity being used to target vulnerable people, etc, etc. While it is true that the posts/activity in a person's profile are easily searchable by simply putting a member's name in the the proper field, being able to easily access this feature via the user profiles is subtly different. It is the difference between someone having to search through a whole bunch of newspaper archives to find you, versus walking up to a cubby with your name on it full of stuff just about you. Many won't appreciate the distinction, but some will. Unfortunately I don't think we can change this part. However we can disable non-members from having easy access to a person's gender, birth date, interests, descriptions, and any contact info the forum has fields for (aim/skype/msn/website/etc/etc). So I've gone ahead and made these above items only viewable by members. Perhaps we should have a discussion/vote on this - this is simply a preemptive action to ensure privacy is kept until a different decision can be made.
  18. New Layout

Thanks for the heads up. So far I've found specific profile field items can be toggled as publicly visible or not: And here is the thread about this issue back a couple years ago. Eight pages long. Still researching to see if there's a way to disable that, though I'm not the one who gets to make the call on these things.
  19. not sure yet

Oh, I found it. System - Content Discovery - Streams - Activity Stream Settings:
  20. not sure yet

I let Sean know about the mobile browser width issue. Can change your own profile settings to prevent people from following you. People could already see who liked what, now it just shows up in the activity timeline... not able to disable though, unless we also disable seeing who liked what, which was disabled this morning and people complained about not being able to see who liked what so we turned it on and discovered you can see it everywhere now. Circularity? In the profile settings there is now a second "blank" option under gender. Choosing this option hides the gender thing all together. Just like having a fresh account. The gender thing only happens when editing profile for the first time. Kinda like puberty. Two steps back, one step forward? Or is it the other way around. Where are we going again? How easy is it to see what content others follow? I only see it in each individual thread, not in users profiles. I think this is how it used to work too... some people requested the ability to follow threads anonymously back in 2012, but not sure yet if that feature was added.

Something else I noticed is that some of the notification settings were locked. I was not able to see anything in the notification list when there was a new reply, but I did get an email, which I didn't want. I noticed this is the second option here, which was locked from changes: I've unlocked it and then was able to adjust my own personal settings (I prefer Notification List, not Email, for all but Private Messages). I also noticed that Private Messages were locked and set to only email and did not use the Messenger Notification List, so I've unlocked this as well. Please adjust in your own settings now!
  22. New Layout

I just disabled cloudflare, which may be related. Cloudflare does caching stuff... but caching stuff can also do weird things with knowing whether or not you are logged into the site or not.... I was finding a bug that let me login, then I would go to a page and discover I was logged out. So the caching is disabled now, but we may add in some other type of caching to speed things up if necessary.
  23. New Layout

This might be helpful to some whom are trying to adjust to the changes: https://invisionpower.com/4guides/how-to-use-ips-community-suite/member-preferences-and-features/
  24. New Layout

Haha I just noticed that too. The setting is Can view who gave reputation? And that's it. I don't find the new entries on the activity stream too obtrusive personally. On the other hand I'm having trouble getting used to the new text editor and <enter> creating a new paragraph instead of a new line.... though I can hold <shift>+<enter> to make a new line. Oh, looks like this is an option in the settings. What do people prefer?
  25. New Layout

InvisionPower, the developers of the forum software we use, completely rewrote their software. This is not as much an upgrade to a new version of the software as it is a migration to completely rewritten software. This new rewrite was released in April 2015. Now it is 2 years later and the old version of the software was no longer supported and showing signs of decay. Not much choice about upgrading. The theme you see is what Sean tweaked from the new software's default theme to make look as much as possible like the old theme. Sean doesn't have a lot of time to spend on this, and did his best. There are still some things we don't particularly like, like the new thread titles and member names (big black text). Around midnight last night we were about wiped out from all the things we had worked on. Is pretty good considering we didn't have much choice about upgrading. This appears to have been a configuration option that was moved to a new settings place in the backend and defaulted to off. I've found it now and enabled for everyone logged in again. (For mods it is in the ACP under groups -> edit -> social.) Please let us know if there are any major issues.
