  1. Human destruction of nature

can you see electro-magnetic forces with your physical eyes, (and since you can't are they real?) Does putting physical limits on human abilities that are greater than just the physical (for instance intuition) a virtue?
  2. Human destruction of nature

a "heaven" is an evolution beyond the physical.
  3. Human destruction of nature

i don't know about that...seems that a greater evolution is pre-programed into the system other wise it never would have gotten off the ground in the first place. Btw. the earth will die as an earth but become a heaven, just as a sprout will die as a sprout but become a tree.
  4. Human destruction of nature

I don't know much about genetic markers...but it seems that if the blue print, so to speak, had failures or cancer in it - that it never would have gotten off the ground in the first place?
  5. everything except the Brahman or Self beyond categories could be termed an ever changing relative reality....

"During the summer of 2018, the future of climate change became the present. Highly amplified jet stream patterns that remained stuck in place for unusually long periods of time brought the planet a series of remarkable weather catastrophes—unprecedented heat waves in East Asia and Northern Europe, choking smoke from a record fire season in California and Washington, and Japan’s deadliest floods since 1982, to name a few. The severe summer weather helped bring the 2018 tally of billion-dollar weather-related disasters to 35--a startlingly high number that is already the third highest such total for any year since 1990, according to statistics supplied by Steve Bowen of insurance broker Aon Benfield. Research published on Wednesday (open access), led by climate scientist Dr. Michael Mann of Penn State, predicted that our future climate is likely to bring a significant increase in “stuck” summertime jet stream patterns capable of bringing a rise in extreme destructive weather events like we experienced in 2018. Their paper was titled, Projected changes in persistent extreme summer weather events: The role of quasi-resonant amplification. Figure 1. The yearly number of billion-dollar global weather disasters, adjusted for inflation, as compiled by insurance broker Aon Benfield in their Annual Global Climate and Catastrophe Reports. The figures for 2018 are only through October, yet we have already seen the third highest number of billion-dollar global weather disasters on record for a year--thanks, in part, to an unusually persistent and extreme summertime jet stream pattern that brought extended periods of extreme weather to portions of the globe. The increasing trend in weather disaster losses in recent decades is largely due to increases in wealth and population and to people moving to more vulnerable areas, but climate change is likely to play an increasing role in coming decades in disaster losses. We discussed this topic in more detail in a 2012 post, Damage Losses and Climate Change....." Our "stable genius" (you know who) does NOT believe in global warming nor does he give a dam, for he has several resorts to choose from to screw off at depending on the weather , besides he will only be around 10-20 years per a normal lifespan, but all the future generations coming up will be suffering in part because of the results of his gross ignorance and arrogance - and they sure in the hell will not have their choice of cozy resorts to screw off at in the lap of luxury!
  7. how is it that the real can be connected to the unreal? Thus the dichotomy is only in perception not fact.
  8. Yutang Lin

it's been awhile since this quote has popped up, and since many of us have been going around and around in ways related to it I thought I'd add it to the mix...so we can see what else pops out. By Yutang Lin: "Teaching of "Non-form" indicates non-attachment to form. Misinterpreted, it is adopted as holding to absence of form. Abiding in no forms at all, one falls into the abyss of void. Only in no grasping to form or non-form lies true liberation"
  9. Human destruction of nature

ok, but cancer of various levels is not in the greater blue print or existing as some kind of default, in spiritual type terms it is a corrupting of the blueprint at certain levels of being by anti-dharmic forces...so it can be said that nothing happens in an individuals body or the body of the earth without it first taking place at deeper levels.
  10. Human destruction of nature

the Tao is not broken by a trump or anything else, so not just optimism per-se, instead lets see verified truth.
  11. Human destruction of nature

I think you could qualify that much better Steve...for instance, "The world has enough for everyone's need, but not enough for everyone's greed .” ― Mahatma Gandhi. (and we could add fear and all of its twisted sisters, so to speak, to said greed) Btw., Certain peeks into the future are not as fascinating as you may think and are so painful that much is not revealed - on purpose. Still it holds true that, "the darkest hour is just before the dawn" ' and the coming dawn brings a new Earth transformed into a heaven! The Earth Soul does not think like a mankind caught up in snares does, for She is far to noble of mothers spirit and beauty for that, besides she has human children turned to flaming gold that stand with her against the greater darkness... mankinds karma will be reaped and prices will be paid, yet after a mystic pause in time we will fly through her shining silver forests in joy and breathe deep of her living inviolate vitality, for in that day of innate wellness and purity there is no unclean thing that exists that can burrow under her skin to rise and ever bring her harm again.
  12. just to add another monkey wrench to the mix there is Mr. O's interesting material about reincarnation in his book, "A New Model of the Universe" along with related material in several of his other books. Mr. O is very logical in his thinking and writing, but for those that don't know the "4th way" has had a lot of troubles with cult spin offs so "buyer beware".
  13. Chief Seattle's Letter: "The President in Washington sends word that he wishes to buy our land. But how can you buy or sell the sky? the land? The idea is strange to us. If we do not own the freshness of the air and the sparkle of the water, how can you buy them?Every part of the earth is sacred to my people. Every shining pine needle, every sandy shore, every mist in the dark woods, every meadow, every humming insect. All are holy in the memory and experience of my people. We know the sap which courses through the trees as we know the blood that courses through our veins. We are part of the earth and it is part of us. The perfumed flowers are our sisters. The bear, the deer, the great eagle, these are our brothers. The rocky crests, the dew in the meadow, the body heat of the pony, and man all belong to the same family. The shining water that moves in the streams and rivers is not just water, but the blood of our ancestors. If we sell you our land, you must remember that it is sacred. Each glossy reflection in the clear waters of the lakes tells of events and memories in the life of my people. The water's murmur is the voice of my father's father. The rivers are our brothers. They quench our thirst. They carry our canoes and feed our children. So you must give the rivers the kindness that you would give any brother. If we sell you our land, remember that the air is precious to us, that the air shares its spirit with all the life that it supports. The wind that gave our grandfather his first breath also received his last sigh. The wind also gives our children the spirit of life. So if we sell our land, you must keep it apart and sacred, as a place where man can go to taste the wind that is sweetened by the meadow flowers. Will you teach your children what we have taught our children? That the earth is our mother? What befalls the earth befalls all the sons of the earth. This we know: the earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the earth. All things are connected like the blood that unites us all. Man did not weave the web of life, he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself. One thing we know: our God is also your God. The earth is precious to him and to harm the earth is to heap contempt on its creator.Your destiny is a mystery to us. What will happen when the buffalo are all slaughtered? The wild horses tamed? What will happen when the secret corners of the forest are heavy with the scent of many men and the view of the ripe hills is blotted with talking wires? Where will the thicket be? Gone! Where will the eagle be? Gone! And what is to say goodbye to the swift pony and then hunt? The end of living and the beginning of survival. When the last red man has vanished with this wilderness, and his memory is only the shadow of a cloud moving across the prairie, will these shores and forests still be here? Will there be any of the spirit of my people left?We love this earth as a newborn loves its mother's heartbeat. So, if we sell you our land, love it as we have loved it. Care for it, as we have cared for it. Hold in your mind the memory of the land as it is when you receive it. Preserve the land for all children, and love it, as God loves us.As we are part of the land, you too are part of the land. This earth is precious to us. It is also precious to you.One thing we know - there is only one God. No man, be he Red man or White man, can be apart. We ARE all brothers after all."
  14. it sure does with horrific genocide committed against native peoples and others in the US and around the world, which has nothing to do with your truth and all to do with overwhelming long term recorded facts and the graves of its victims.
  15. Everything, I believe you just set a new record for your shortest yet still incisive post ever.
  16. a great deal of how he lived can be found in the four Gospels, which should also be taken in the context of some misunderstandings after 2000+ years of various interpretations and commentaries. Still and even then the Spirit still works. through time and words.
  17. The stock market has little or nothing to do with the direct commission genocide, I'm sure most American Indians would take the comparison as least flippant.
  18. abstractions are mostly things to turn this way and that in our minds....Jesus did not play it that way.
  19. God as Self, Atman

even God can't stop us from reaching God...
  20. idealistic thinking about the ideal has its place, but in the mean time there is a war going on with many who are being crushed while warriors do all they can to stem the dark tide... for instance Gandhi had one side solved but that did not automatically solve the other side although it did impact it for a nation and its people!
  21. that is the easy side of the equation....the other side is real test and proof, namely to be in the direct presence of negative forces and transmute them to Dharma truths.
  22. could be, and could be the blind leading the blind...and part of that is that an institution over time and in some cases can reverse and replace the original nature of a teaching itself; which is something that is very obvious in Christianity with its long history of cases of being corrupted towards "manifest destiny" as an excuse to commit genocide against American Indians. (and lots of other crimes against lots of other people in the name of God, something which Lord Jesus would never tolerate for a moment)
  23. ok, thanks for your explanation. I'd say some teachings can more or less get lost in translation and become dogma like, which doesn't mean to me that all teachings become dogma like, many are known as powerful revealed doctrine, thus more than just intellectual speculation and concepts to be cherry picked in whatever way one might please. (if one is to become part of a related lineage or school that goes by same)
  24. regardless of what I say ...it is well known by most that the historic Buddha and founder of Buddhism rejected the "Self" precept of the Vedas, it is also well known by most that the last lineage holder of KS, Swami Lakshmanjoo, rejected the Buddhist precept of no-self or no Atman. Thus anyone who is mixing things up or cherry picking so to speak is doing it on their own outside of the founders of both schools teachings and can not make any claim to be following those founders and related schools if they do so. Btw. neither of the Masters mentioned above put the ideas of other schools on the shelf for further consideration, they both came to and made final conclusions 180 degrees apart.
  25. I don't use the mind terms like that....to me mind could be said to be like a spin off of the Self, never the Self or the same as Self that is beyond mind. Btw. not to many broad minded Buddhists will accept that because at that point they would no longer be Buddhist since it is against a key Buddhist precept. Thus we are at an irreconcilable point related to Vedic and Buddhist teachings.
