  1. Bigu practices

Thanks Rasayana, I would appreciate anything you can post or send.
  2. The power of Internal Martial Arts

I thought the video was ok, not fantastic, not horrible. I thought his circle walking energy was too high, the root wasn't there. But, his footwork is better than most I've seen. His palm/arm formation is different from our style. It looked basic to me. No twisting, no tucking, no outward push, no rounding of the back. Or at least not much of it. I have to give the man credit for his knowledge of Chinese and his duration of study.
  3. Wang Liping in Jinhua 2008

Do you guys have an outline of what Long men Qigong practices are about? For the life of me I can't find anything on this.
  4. Wang Liping in Jinhua 2008

May I ask, what is MAX's system?? I sent an email to the Dragon Door teacher in SoCal and am waiting for a reply.
  5. Shocked, Saddened, and Disappointed

yep, some of the best stuff I've learned over the last 20 years was either free or little cost. And, I still practice the best stuff to this day. But, again. I've always taken care of my teachers with gifts or extra cash.
  6. Bigu practices

Yes, but it's combined with breathing techinques to boost energy and qi. Also exercises. The purpose of this practice is to increase qi. The theory being that food qi is slow and dirty and taxes the system. Doing a Bigu allows qi to enter the body quicker and to a deeper level. one more thing, ususally it's not a complete Abstinence of food unless under a master. Mostly it's a reduction, or percentage of food.
  7. Wong Kiew Kit - 18 LoHan Qigong

Well, I'm thinking I'm not going to go. The reason is it looks a little basic compared to what I've already learned and am learning. The reason I was interested is material I could teach others I met down the line but I think given the cost I'll pass this time.
  8. Wang Liping in Jinhua 2008

I know of someone in Southern California teaching the Long Men Qigong and who studied with Wang Liping and Ken's teacher. She studied around 20 years ago if I remember correctly. Anyway, if anyone's interested I can contact her and see if she would be interested in more students.
  9. Wong Kiew Kit - 18 LoHan Qigong

DesertEagle, Did they offer a money back Guarantee? They are offering this for this seminar. http://www.flowingzen.com/2008Grandmaster.htm See third paragraph of intro.
  10. Wong Kiew Kit - 18 LoHan Qigong

Desert Eagle, Could you expand on this? Did you have a negative experience with the teacher or material? Thanks,
  11. Shocked, Saddened, and Disappointed

GoldISHeavy, Ridiculous reply. I'm talking about apples and you've spent 20 minutes telling me about oranges. de_paradise, I don't think ppl should teach for free but I also don't think ppl should teach basic knowledge for Exorbitant fees either.
  12. Shocked, Saddened, and Disappointed

    Totally agree.
  13. Shocked, Saddened, and Disappointed

I don't expect it for free. Absolutely not. I just think these prices are way out of line. I did not mention earlier that my qigong teacher (Zhan Zhuang) although he asked for nothing I gave him a couple hundred dollars for his time, my Bagua teacher I gave very nice gifts. I always gave extra, a lot more than the teacher asked (or didn't ask). I would not expect they teach for nothing. The problem is these ppl are holding classes which are a drop in the bucket of their knowledge or a drop in the bucket of what a student needs to have and they are charging big money for that little drop. It's like paying 10.00 for 1 grain of rice when you need several cups to make a meal.
  14. Zhan Zhuang

My friend in China is studying Bagua from his grandfather. To start he is practicing ZZ in the 8 mother palm formation. I can't say enough about standing ZZ. If learning internal arts I believe it will be "THE" factor in the end result. I watched a practioner compete last weekend in the intermediate division and can tell he did no ZZ training. Bagua is very demanding (if training for martial arts). That's why few practice it. It's murder.

  16. Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Career?

I remember a story my friend told me when he was doing his advanced study in Shanghai (he already graduated here in the states). He said there was a woman in his class that was doing acupuncture on a patient. She starts up high in the air with the needle and drops it down like a bomb in the air. My friend's thinking "this woman has no business being in this business" but there she was, doing advanced study in Shanghai. Somebody passed her, she passed the state or national board and there she was. I've always wanted to study TCM "professionally" but never had the right conditions, now I'm nearly 50 and the window is closing. But, having lived in Shanghai for nearly 2 years I wouldn't think twice about going to China to study. Especially since the OP makes the kind of money he does. He just needs to save for a year or less, sell or store his stuff and go. I wouldn't look back. Living in China is great.
  17. Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Career?

<smile> you're right. In China they expect a certain amount of intensity but in the states it's different. If you treat the ppl that way here you won't have too many patients. I would say it take an certain intellect and common sense to make the adjustments to the different cultures. Also, as I have had acupuncture and other modalities from many different Chinese TCM doctors, there are other modalities which could also be as effective as acupuncture or better. I know one guy in California that stress massage in combo with needling to get the job done. He is very skillful both in business and his art and never has a quiet moment in is work day. Busy Busy Busy. But, his tuina is deep tissue and it can feel as a suffering treatment rather than a relaxing one. Another Doctor is a Qigong master as well. He "charges" the needles with qi which can not even be felt going in, it's almost like they lay on the surface of the skin (from a feeling standpoint). Anyway, the point is to adjust your treatment techniques to your client base. Now, regarding American Schools. It seems, and it's severely irritating, that these things become political in nature. That is, well you have to pay us some money before you can practice here. Even if you come from the mother-land, even if you've been a master acupuncturist for many years, etc. Even if you speak Chinese, and learn in China, you still cannot get away from paying us (whatever governing body) our money. ughhh. To the OP, 130k is retarded. There is no way in _ _ _ _ I would give them that amount of money. No way.
  18. Bagua Kid Intro

Hello all, Just a short intro here. I'm nearly 50 and I've been in Chinese Martial Arts and Qigong since 84. Praying Mantis Gongfu, many different styles of qigong, and Bagua Zhang which I studied and learned in China. I speak conversational Chinese and am into practical taoist practices. Greetings !!
  19. Bagua Kid Intro

Actually, I shouldn't be giving out that link since I closed that account months ago. For some reason they keep the account open. I'm going to create a site soon and will bring those links over to the new one.
  20. Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Career?

Thanks for the reply Taoist81. I did check on this from one school in Arizona. After speaking to them they said it would be no problem to transfer credit from the school in Shanghai to their school. Things are changing very rapidly. I would suggest the OP to check this out if there is interest on his end. I would much rather study in China than the US. Even with me and martial arts the difference is huge.

    Thanks, Kool Site there Trunk!!
  22. Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Career?

Have you thought about going to China to learn? Really. My friend is studying there now and it is costing him less than 10k I'm sure. You can work part time teaching English or just save and go. That's what I would do. The only problem I feel with learning TCM in China is they integrate a load of western medicine theory into the program. In China they are moving towards Western Medicine so everyone wants to study this. I've asked for TCM programs only and the school told me they can arrange that so it is possible. See the links on my links page for more info: http://members.bigvalley.net/wuji/china/shanghailinks.html Shanghai TCM College. http://www.shutcm.com/ http://www.shutcm.com/english/ Oh, btw, they do teach in English but the tuition is more. xxxxxx
