“Someone once said that learning Chinese is "a five-year lesson in humility". I used to think this meant that at the end of five years you will have mastered Chinese and learned humility along the way. However, now having studied Chinese for over six years, I have concluded that actually the phrase means that after five years your Chinese will still be abysmal, but at least you will have thoroughly learned humility.” (https://pinyin.info/readings/texts/moser.html) As for me, 7 years, cracked my brains, little result. lol, cry emoji here.

@Nungali the belief in “nibbana”, is this “white school” or “black school”. Or can these terms not be used for other traditions?

moving our point of consciousness; and the universe as a thought we are thinking
Cobie replied to BigSkyDiamond's topic in General Discussion
imo The universe is real. The word ‘real’ is not defined by being non-finite, but by being observable by the senses. So one’s ‘ideas’ about the universe are not real, every person inhabits their own ‘mental’ universe. I, the non-finite soul, during life am only inside my body. If it was otherwise, I would be able to enter other people and know their thoughts and feelings (which is not the case). Only God/Dao is omnipresent, so also inside my body. Only after death does the soul leave the body and returns to where it came from. -
Reminiscent of the Kirlian photography and the aura photography that used to be popular here (I think it was in ‘the 90s’).

For me “emotions” is ‘water’. For me reminiscent of Genesis 1.2, … the Spirit of God (wind) was hovering over the face of the waters (water) cf. 風水 (feng1 shui3) wind and water; Fengshui (which is not just geomancy)

I agree. E.g. 神 不 死 (shen2 bu4 si3) the soul never dies [from first line ch. 6] 天 長 地 久 (tian1 chang2 di4 jiu3) Heaven is eternal; earth is temporal. [first line ch. 7]

imo this is a very important distinction to make - these two say very different things.

Yes. Intuition, inner tutor. My intuition, that is my soul speaking, it tells my two brain-halves what’s right. -
Happy solstice to all.

Yes. In Laozi's time custom was to start with what's most important, and the DDJ imo starts with 4 chapters on "self-development".

The frontpages here are shocking to me, seems to me it's now all about the threat of war and the need to increase spending on arms. To be honest I am not coping well with it, so I have decided to limit the attention I give it.

Hello my friend CD, always nice to disagree with you.

For RC, Jesus definitely is not a magician and psychic powers is not what it’s about.
