  1. Sexual accusations

My point is, the Media and Politicians are not your friends. They manipulate you. They use you to achieve their ends. The first question you should ask when news breaks is not "what happened" but rather "who benefits from this story?" Sad, but unfortunately true.
  2. Sexual accusations

And don't forget Ted Kennedy, the "Lion of the Senate!".
  3. Sexual accusations

Don't forget the exact same thing happened to Romney when he ran in 2012. Anyone remember they dragged up accusations of him bullying a kid in high school. High School! Same exact pattern. Also, don't forget Organization C was absolutely fine with all of Bill Clinton's accusations. They were so fine with it that they accused the accusers of lying. And he came into the race with this baggage actively on his coat tails.
  4. Sexual accusations

The highly charged subject matter is confusing the issue. People focus on details and forget principles. Here's the issue in a nutshell: 1) Person A allegedly commits Action B 40 years ago. 2) Person A maintains a public persona for much of those 40 years. 3) No charges (to our knowledge) regarding Action B have ever been brought, nor has any reparations been sought. 4) Person A runs for national office. At the proverbial last minute Organization C alleges Action B as grounds for disqualification. So, if this is all you knew - the exact nature of who Person A is, or what Action B is what Organization C is - would you see it as an evasion of justice or as a mockery of politics?
  5. What to do about compassion?

    This is powerful. Thank you.
  6. Is enlightenment really desirable?

I found it at Lamps Plus!
  7. Is enlightenment really desirable?

    I will. Thanks.
  8. What made YOU laugh today/tonight ?

I spent my lunch watching ants crawl along the cracks in the sidewalk, going about their very important business. Then I went back into the high-rise building where I work to go about my own very important business.
  9. Is enlightenment really desirable?

I'm not going to ask how you found this, but ...
  10. What to do about compassion?

Good point. Thanks for reminding me. I think about Kuan Yin in times like this. The Bodhisattva is an excellent guide in such matters. We mere mortals however, lacking clear perception of all things, can never be sure if we are actually helping or not. Maybe I need to redefine 'help'.
  11. Rebirth in Pureland Mantra - story + video

That was a very sweet video. I am glad there were subtitles. It's much easier to understand that way.
  12. WalMart and shit...

What could possibly go wrong? http://www.courant.com/news/connecticut/hc-news-amazon-package-delivery-20171030-story.html
  13. Sexual accusations

I try really hard to stay out of 'The Pavilion' as much as possible. I'm not doing such a good job today. The entire issue is really simple. The Left wants to destroy the Western World - e.g North America, Europe. They are filled with angst and self loathing and want to destroy what they see. It's quite immature, but at least they know what they want and are committed to fight for it. The Right, on the other hard, has no clue what it wants. So it's like a school yard fight where one person is serious and wants the other dead, and the other person is laughing and thinks it's a joke. Truthfully, I don't care what side people are on. Just don't fool yourself regarding what's going on.

Because now is the time that will cause maximum damage and swing the senate seat from R to D. No one (in politics) cares about what actually happened those 40 years ago. They care only about winning. The voters are being manipulated.
  15. Is enlightenment really desirable?

Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful! Huzzah, cheers, and all that!
  16. Is enlightenment really desirable?

In the pursuit of enlightenment, all topics are 'on topic'. ;-)
  17. Is enlightenment really desirable?

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. _/|\_

I rarely drink anymore either. It used to be I would have 2-3 drinks on a Friday night. A good bottle would last me a month or so. Now I've had the same bottle for almost a year. Getting old. But I don't miss it either. Which reminds me, next time I'm in Chinatown I should see what they want for Johnny Walker Blue... They have good deals in Chinatown, just check the seals before you buy, 'cause you ain't a gonna be able to return anything!

That's why I started drinking 18 yo single malt. I don't need it to be too cheap a hobby!
  20. Is enlightenment really desirable?

I understand. Once someone achieves understanding they are tempted to explain their experience to another. I becomes only a matter of time until a new school or system is born. Such is life. That reminds me, I need to go reinvent the wheel...
  21. Is enlightenment really desirable?

Paths are paths, not destinations. There are many ways to get to the liquor store, I mean candy shop. ;-D
  22. Is enlightenment really desirable?

Not to derail the conversation, but consider this: If your senses were removed, one by one and you lost your sense of sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch; how long would your mind remain? Is it even possible for the mind to remain absent perceptions? Is so, what does that mean? If not, what does that mean?
  23. Is enlightenment really desirable?

Excellent. I appreciate your honesty. IMO this is a perfectly acceptable answer.
  24. Is enlightenment really desirable?

Everything you write above equally applies to 'individual' consciousness. How does one know that there is a 'universal' consciousness?
  25. Is enlightenment really desirable?

Fascinating insight. Is it that we instinctively seek the void?
