moment replied to falcon's topic in General Discussion
That is what I figured. I am curious, what do you personally believe The Dao Bums mission statement is? -

Is your tongue stuck in your cheek? I also see that you liked Limahong's comment on Kundalini. You caught me right in the middle of an edit. I tend to be a little slow that way. I always start with rough drafts. Since yor reply has already popped up below, I guess I will move down. -

What is the most straight forward path to enlightenment

We must have a proper adjustment to whatever reality is presenting to us in order to work-with metamorphosis. This requires training in relaxation and grounding techniques. -

Being able to ground quickly in all situations is the most important thing you can learn. But, most people have to learn that the hard way. -

To Falcon, There is a very safe intermediate step to the mirror meditation. Sit in a comfortable position with a straight spine. Now, start peeling layers. First, feel your skin, then go inside and feel your breath and realize these are not you. Now, look at your thoughts and realize that you can separate your thoughts from you. When for a brief time their is no thoughts, there is still you looking out. Keep feeling, sensing this you that is apart from everything else. Keep working on making this" I" the master that can be trained to observe your emotions, thoughts, and with more advanced development you can use this perspective to reduce pain to a substantial degree. Do this for 30-90 days. While you are doing this learn a variety of grounding techniques, with sets of Tai Chi being numero uno. After all of that, give the mirror meditation a shot. -

That would most likely be a no. My experience with connecting the snake to the top of the head and beyond is unimaginable bliss. Bliss so complete and total as to make one nearly non-functional in the physical world for a period of time.

The voice is usually hard to pinpoint. But, my experience is a feeling of coming deep out of the torso and the head all at once. Soft and yet, undeniable.

What role does faith play in the taoist perspective?
moment replied to Boundlesscostfairy's topic in Daoist Discussion
I think defining the space between, some preconcepts here, is one of those areas in which words are proving inadequate. But, on the bright side, you have taught me a new word (reify). After looking up all of it's nuances, I see that it is much more agile than personify. Thank you. -

We are civil people. Since there are many higher powers in the universe, I assume you mean a personified/religious higher power. I am not religious and I do not believe in religious faith either. I do believe though that atheism is just the flip side of the coin from religious faith. I am not picking at you. I am trying to point toward something for both of us. My communication skills are probably not up to it though. -
What role does faith play in the taoist perspective?

I'm going to be light on you this time. (I appreciate that. I shall return the favor). Yes, confidence is faith in one's capacities and capabilities. (Tao is between insecurity and confidence). But then, "show and tell time" offers the same results without faith. (The Tao has no show and tell time). Anything outside of Tao is an operation of faith. -

You and I have had a friendly sparring on faith before. Here I go again: Confidence is faith. -
