the western European doctor that tended to me as a kid was a firm believer in keeping warm too. He admonished me not to sit on cold surfaces. I also remember warm but itchy woolen underwear. My esteemed teacher told us to keep the body warm and regarding going barefoot he judged that it's mostly to cold were we live.

trees can grow to be enormous energetic beings and I see you sitting there, under those long trailing twigs. When that feels good to you it's okay. I seem to remember that there's a difference between trees with laves and trees with needles, probably to do with the sap stream. Needle tree have an upwards movement in winter that trees with leaves do not have. But at least here it's to cold and wet to do anything outside when the sapstream in the deciduous trees has temporarily reversed and stopped. I've always had a strong connection to trees, as a kid I went up to guys that were about to kill a tree and yell at them they should stop. visualize that, a preschooler yelling at those big men they should stop But not everybody has the same connection to trees, interestingly my connection with trees was better then that of my esteemed teacher. Which at the time surprised me. and trees do remember you, you can befriend a tree although the connection is much different from the connection between humans.

that's the reason I mentioned it , I can see Chinese characters just fine, but your Javanese script gets reduced to little rectangles with a cross inside.

teacher had the complete floor from the dojo removed ( a sort of concrete and iron) and there was a new floor build from wood only, think that's telling. further it seems to me that whereas chi/energy/whatevers very easily goes up, it's a lot harder to get it down. The barefoot standing does help to get it down, especially in combination with a good posture and an empty mind.

ah yes, 501 it was I know of one such a tree in the neighborhood but easier to find is equisetum. Not for me though, have been housebound for many years now. Even light gardening is not possible anymore, but have become a good knitter. this vineyard is still young, 20 or 30 years I guess I hear the wine is very good quality. It was started by a local BD-farmer who saw that big, overgrown piece of land close by his land and asked the owner whether he could start a vinyard there. and it was all arranged and after lots of work and some very hard first years it now is a beautiful place that gives good crop. In times unremembered it was the veggie garden of a big house and walls on all sides make the micro-climate slightly warmer then the surroundings. But also more humid with risk of mildew and mold

I have been stirring water with one of these alchemical thingies for a vineyard here in the neighbor hood, I found it interesting experience.did it together with someone else as it was a big rainbarrel and hard work for me but soon you fall into a rhythm and then it goes all by itself. "t was to make the abundant leavegrowth more resistant to err... mildew and mold like things. They have beautiful soil

Oh yes, of course I do believe in Santa. Santa is not a person, Santa is an idea. When it gets darker outside and cold we have to be more inside. We cannot go out to play or walk when tensions between familymembers rise. So we do our best to react more amicable, we thoughtfully make or buy small presents. Together we clean our home and add some decorations reminding us of light and sprouting greens. For the smaller ones among us it’s magical, they believe the big man dressed in red and the elves looking in every corner of the house have physical reality. The green smell in the living-room and the glittering decorations add to that magical sphere. The grownups and the big kids create the atmosphere of magic and then are caught in it themselves too. When all is ready we have some festive days with our loved ones, days of rest, love and connecting. After Christmas very slowly the days are getting longer again and we start to look forward to the next year, to new growth both of plants and our own development. Leastwise, that’s what Santa means to me.

I would not take that as an ad hominem, I did not mean it as that. Comparing you to him is more like an honor then an insult. As to Kundalini being naught more then a physiological reaction. It's useless to talk about that with you. You're obviously sure you're ideas about it are right, or in other words, you're cup is full and new information cannot enter.

Narrating about his youth he jokingly did call it a course, yes. But in fact he had been living at that place as an intern for over a year, which is quite a commitment for a 20 something guy.

first, congrats on finishing your degree i cannot be of much help but this scheme might make a bit of order in your thoughts about how to progress from here. Looking back on my life i think I mostly jumped on the trains that were passing, when not fast enough I paid for it with scratches from falling. So my advice would be: look out for a train that passes and invites you to jump on.

apart from the idea of friction that Dwai introduced there is of course relativity think of a bucket with lukewarm water. a person with cold hands will perceive that water as quite warm, almost hot. The person with nice warm hands will perceive same water as cool, almost cold. same water. that's with a lot of perceptions, my son is colorblind. He sees the world totally different, which world is more real? I cannot perceive depth due to some inborn fuckery, I see the world very different from the next guy what perception is real? (if any )

thank you, that's an interesting take on it. It's something that has puzzled me for a while, from what I understand Kundalini goes up the spine and out the top of the head. And often it is referred to as a hot energy, but the " heat' being caused by " friction" is a nice concept. The daoist take though is that the energy goes up the Du mai then down again, that it forms a circuit with the Ren mai. and thus I am wondering whether the same "tube" in the spine is used for those 2 rising energies.

oh, by the time the MCO started to flow I was totally aware of the emotional effects and glad about it. better out then in but the flowing water experience caught me by surprise as at that time I had no idea such things could happen.

it's funny really, when that guy told me about his youthful aspirations to become enlightened we both had a good laugh because of that. Although he put in a lot of serious work and time, his idea of becoming enlightened at 20-something as a result of that course in Kriya yoga was of an endearing naivety. You reduce kundalini to a physiological reaction which, imho, is likewise a sign of naivety.

from the little I have learned erm... energy should flow through 'meridians' /tubes. But it does not very well, there are places were the plumbing just got clogged up. Several practices that we inherited from older times tend to unclog the pipes. yoga/chigung/ some tibetan practices that i do not know anything about, probably much more cultures having their ways to unclog the tubes. Interestingly part of those blockages are emotional in nature, when you start 'practicing' you'll find all kind of emotional shit comes up. Then you can let go of that shit,(or keep it so you clog up the tubes again.) when the system gets more unclogged the chi/energy/whatevers flows better and i have conjectured that it is a self serving system once you've got a good starters. The MCO ( which in my tradition is called the smaller heavenly cycle, if i remember it well, memory is quite fuzzy lately) is the ren and du meridians combined to a circuit. I have never "done" the mco, i was not taught that way, I have been doing standing meditation and some movements, quite boring really. Then all of a sudden "water" started to spout up my back and down my front, it felt as if a dry riverbed was suddenly filled with water. It was literally roaring through my system. Quite a shocking experience. I guess that circuit is still circuiting and in its wake other pipes can become unclogged as long as there is movement. The more unclogging, the more emotional shit gets cleared out of our system. The more emotional shit is gone the better you can see without preconceived notions. I guess that's about it. cannot tell you what comes after that The way I was taught there was no visualizing anything, no " doing" of the MCO, in fact I had not heard that term or concept when it started spouting 'water' up my spine. whether to visualize or not is another hot contented bone here on the daobums

    an apt description

I wonder, he describes how "water" goes up the spine and then turns a corner and fills up a flat disc shaped cushion at the height of the nipples, and then he wonders whether that was a kundalinilike occurrence. I remember well how I experienced the opening of the MCO as cool water, rushing through the channels as water filling up a dry riverbed. I've always thought that kundalini energy is hot energy, not cool and water like. anybody more information on this?

firstly Tummo and Kundalini are 2 very different "things" you could have looked that up. I think, nobody has asked you to enter a course of Kriya yoga, if you do not want it thats fine with me. But not a reason to give out judgement about what you have no knowledge of. Concerning neuroscience, ever enjoyed an optical phenomenon caused by refraction, internal refelction and dispersion of light in waterdroplets resulting in a continuous spectrum of light appearing in the sky.
