  1. My current time sink is Mass Effect playing all 3 for the 1st time on ps3 just about completed number one I really enjoy borderlands if I find a good teammate, cooperation is fun What is a bit worrying is I sometimes feel, I have nothing to do tonight. Entertainment, be it games, movies, books even drinking, will all use that time in ways I enjoy ........ But are they useful ways?
  2. Moderator Dictatorship

It's nice to see these sort of discussions from outside of moderation involvement and also without constantly reading every single thread on site. Read everything vs read what you are interested in and TTB is a very different site From that perspective it seems to me that a very vocal minority is unhappy with certain actions, more are supportive of the actions ... and many are unaware there even was any action.
  3. 24/7 monitoring of the board with the confidence to survive constant and often abusive questioning of your actions. Seriously, that is what moderation can require, which is why there is a team to spread the load. While the ability to function on 90min of sleep is useful, the greatest help is a friend who you can contact and rely on for advice. That may only take minutes and when you need them having (or being) that person is what REALLY helps Most mods usually spend few hours a day. The housework stuff like sweeping out the bots and practice forums is lots of fun and enjoyable. The"issues" are however rather consuming ... basically if you are on site you will be either doing or thinking about moderating
  4. Experience, wisdom, compassion plus a desire to learn ... You yourself have ALL these skills :-)
  5. I know a few bums use this - tere is now a group The Tao Bums
  6. well except for the tags, the board has tags now P ... how many years later
  7. The old guard, love it <3 Situation ... same as it ever was. Now to the non EJ ... I'm not sure if I'd grasp for anything cultivation, reminds me more of the competitive ements in a circle jerk. Interesting that it's not a sexually segerated group so it's like a combination of a circle with spin the bottle.
  8. is it possible to see chi?

The open mind unblock the mindset : "I've never been able to make a qi ball" practice this direction : imagine one -> make it -> feel it Perhaps most importantly have a reason to "use" a chi ball that isn't "I don't trust myself and I have to "see" this before I will" edited to add some loving kindness (i.e. the image)
  9. XBox One

PS4 forever :-P Ok I will eventually upgrade my PS3 but I will wait for the 1st price drop after release :-) Nothing compares to a PC but the hardware doesn't have to, look at a PS3 specifications vs what it's doing at the end of it's generation
  10. happened here in london today

Yes our media and government are just as bad if not worse :-( .There are balanced sources but you have to search for them
  11. is it possible to see chi?

I feel "just knowing" is the correct path, rather than the "troubles of trying" I'm not a teacher and I'm still learning. it's not something I "try" to do and my explanations could well be misleading rather than helpful
  12. is it possible to see chi?

Yes, Kap does and I would expect any complete system would too. It's a shall we say side effect (like a sidi) more than an ability to search for.
  13. is it possible to see chi?

Sad to say that I do expect this from print media, and American TV (sorry US friends) But for someone to decide that "this" story needs digital manipulation .... seriously wow. I know journalist ethics have been dead for a long time, but the lows people will sink too ... Edit to add : well honestly I don't know which one is correct. Snopes or somewhere like that can probably verify there is a difference in the color saturation in the street sign too... While I'm just betting on who has the bigger "agenda" to "panic people" ... it seems you can't believe anything anymore. Even if you were there memories of stressful events are often (even usually) different for different people.
  15. Playing music is my cultivation in action. I use to study music theory, try to understand it technically. Took music classes and gradings listening while I played wasn't really even "part" of it. I was reading music using my mind to analysise it and work out what was the best note. Eventually I stopped playing because just I wasn't "good enough" It was too hard and too much practice needed to improve. Took up Tai Chi instead to help with my health. Now when I play, I play. I stand up and jam. My goal is not to think at all, not to perform for those listening, not to be Mal playing the sax or harp. I listen I breath ... and "it" happens and when "it" happens it is total bliss. I have to add that I'm still not any good by any stretch of the imagination ... but when I can achieve the above people say they enjoy it too. Time to go practice!

We know about it in Australia. It's international news and I live in a military town. May his soul be at peace, my condolences for his friends, family and England... _/\_
  17. I'll be in Melbourne on Anzac day and then picking up a campervan and driving around the Great Ocean Road for a week or so. Any teachers, cool people or sights a 'bum should try to see?
  18. The Great Ocean Road, 12 Apostles Photo by me A truly enjoyable holiday ( edit to add: I didn't even use all the stuff in my suitcase. Having returned home I'm really wondering what I'm doing living in a 5 bedroom 2 story house that's cluttered and pilled full of 20+ years worth of items)
  19. Empty Force

While I wasn't looking for empty force when I saw 0:47 it's what I though of. I hope your practice is going well lifeforce and I think that was for the force effective on 60% of people he outlined 3 practices that gave increasing % results, yes ? Regardless like you said Exactly and personal experience is everything while time is relative ... if I'd started practicing this from the date in the 1st quote
  20. Got Any Fiction Recommendations?

Recently read this on holidays The Martian by Andy Weir REALLY enjoyable, it starts like this and IMO it just kept on getting better and better It's the story of an astronaut as he tries to survive after being left alone on Mars. Great twists, realistic science. Unfortunately I just read that "The Martian will no longer be available for digital purchase after April 30, 2013 A print edition will be coming out in February 2014." The kindle was only $.99 and I felt really bad that it wasn't at least $19.95. Totally enjoyable, if you happen to come across a print copy I recommend it, currently only available as an audio book
  21. Do you practice at midnight?

It's probably more beneficial than surfing ttb at 12:50am :-( I also went to bed at 11pm and ok I've been on Facebook too. At least I know my partner is sleeping well... from the snoring Anyhow currently I usually get to sleep between 10 and 11 and I will usually wake up around 4 (and go back to sleep) While I have practiced then (KAP classes) and it's a good time for practice but then I'm left with a few hours to try to sleep or do something with before work. So I feel better practicing at or around dawn (currently 6am here) or before going to bed( that can be midnight, and wicca sorts of rituals are always fun at midnight, but I prefer to "Play" at night having "practiced" earlier) I also find when I'm up at 1 am I won't want to sleep till around 2
  22. I'm not a doctor either so here is a journal article about the current understanding of the mechanics of lactate acid and fatigue http://www.jappl.org/content/100/4/1410.full
  23. I've been, shall we say "reduced", to practising zz again (my back has decided to be more painful than it has in the last 2 years. Some days the pain is all I can think about) I've been following the 10 day videos and built up to 20 min of my own practice. While I'VE done a lot of practices in my life it really is quite amazing how much I enjoy standing like a tree, the only downside is that time can pass so quickly :-) I'm close to starting to practice tai chi form again and even though I used it to heal my back 2 years ago I'm seriously considering just sticking with zz
  24. [HHC Study] Hua Hu Ching Chapter 12

I have been contemplating this for a few days and I have found it to be a helpful perspective. Thank you _/\_
