[Taoist Ritual] Supreme Mystery Gate Daily Recitation Morning Classwork Scripture | Wudang Mountain, Hubei

Spoiler

The description in YouTube reads as follows, by Google Translated.

[The Daily Morning Recitation Scripture of the Supreme Mysterious Gate] The earliest extant version of the "Daily Recitation Scripture of the Supreme Mysterious Gate" used in the morning and evening recitations of Quanzhen Taoist temples is the *Taishang Xuanmen Gongke Jing* (Scripture of the Supreme Mysterious Gate), included in the *Daozang Jiyao* (Essentials of the Taoist Canon). The scripture is divided into the *Taishang Xuanmen Daily Morning Recitation Scripture* and the *Taishang Xuanmen Daily Evening Recitation Scripture*.

The preface to the *Taishang Xuanmen Gongke Jing* describes it as "a scripture for reciting various immortal scriptures and the precious names of all the immortals." The "Daily Recitations" primarily consist of reciting immortal scriptures and praising the sacred titles (precious proclamations). The morning recitation includes the *Taishang Laojun Shuo Chang Qingjing Jing*, *Taishang Shengxuan Xiaozai Huming Jing*, *Taishang Lingbao Tianzun Shuo Rangzai Du'e Jing*, and *Gaoshang Yuhuang Xinyin Jing*, while praising the titles *Yuqing Hao*, *Shangqing Hao*, *Taiqing Hao*, *Miluo Hao*, *Tianhuang Hao*, *Xingzhu Hao*, *Houtu Hao*, *Shenxiao Hao*, *Bei Wuzu Gao*, *Nan Wuzu Gao*, *Qizhen Gao*, and *Puhua Hao*. Following this, one repents, makes vows, and takes refuge in the Three Jewels of Taoism, Scriptures, and Master.

Due to the influence of sectarianism, lineage, and local factors, the content arrangement and textual versions of the "Daily Recitations" may vary slightly from place to place.

I like this song. I copied the subtitles and also found some similar mantras on ctext

Taishang Xuanmen Morning Liturgy pinyin.txt

Taishang Xuanmen Morning Liturgy partial draft.txt

Here's what i have so far. It's far from complete, and I won't be embarrassed if there are mistakes. It's not an academic translation or ordained for service. Just wanted to read along with the singing and to know what it says. That said it is still handled with respect and reverence.

There is a downloadable mp4 at https://archive.org/details/wudang-mountain-daoist-temple-chanting-morning-evening-liturgy but it is missing the last ten minutes.

As i get more familiar with it, i finally found references for the full text.

for example https://ok9f.com/data/bible/taoism/AF/B/taoismAF_B0013.php

or elsewhere on zh.wikisource.org

In the meantime, i will compare these to make the next draft.
