Does Spring Forest Qigong (SFQ) by Master Chunyi Lin contain elements of Neidan (internal alchemy)?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I’ve been practicing Spring Forest Qigong (SFQ) as taught by Master Chunyi Lin. The system emphasizes healing, transforming emotions, opening energy channels, and cultivating inner balance.

I don’t know much about Neidan, but from what I understand it seems to be something related to Qigong and a valuable part of Taoist inner practice.

My question:
Do you think SFQ contains elements of Neidan? Does the focus on transforming emotions, refining Qi, and connecting to the heart/mind parallel the Neidan teaching .

I would love to hear from practitioners who have studied both SFQ and Neidan, or who see overlaps and differences.

Thank you! 🙏

If you aspire to understanding the profound art of Internal Alchemy you may choose to begin the study of the Zi Wu Orbit and although it is impossible to teach it as a technique (it is a phenomenon of proper meditation practice over many months up to several years), it is possible to teach the foundational knowledge you need to learn and master the nature of the orbit so when your meditation practice arrives you will be able to take advantage of it.

So proper MCO is a stage in Internal Alchemy

Zi Wu Orbit of Internal Alchemy:

this version of the orbit is the alchemical method of transforming the Yin essence of the body to Yang energy and is the foundational stage of practice of internal alchemy known as refining the essence and transforming Qi. Most people who wish to study internal alchemy must complete this stage before they go on to more advanced studies of the large orbit and transforming the void.

Transforming the Yin essence is a deep process that can take years in my opinion. Maybe more experienced people can chime in from various Nei Dan traditions.
