Hello

Recommended Posts

Thank you for providing this online space. My Chinese is limited, but I began learning it in order to better understand the Daoist texts (I'm never really satisfied with translations as there is so much symbolism and poetry in the original texts). I've been studying the Yijing, Daodejing and Zhuangzi for a few years, as well as the poetry of Li Bo and Han Shan and even the Confucianist Du Fu. All of these works deeply inspire me.

It was Zen Buddhism that originally steered me towards Daoism.

Also, I have been practicing Baguazhang (Cheng-style) and Xingyiquan for five years, with strong emphasis on Yiquan over the last three years.

Again, thank you for making this space. I'm here to learn.

Hello owlbeard, and welcome to the forums!

Glad you found your way to us, thank you for the great introduction :-)

Please take the time to read the two posts pinned at the top of this Welcome page and take a look at the forum terms and rules. This covers all you need to know when getting started.

For the first week you will be restricted to ten posts per day but after that you can post as much as you like. Also, until you’ve posted fifteen times in the forums, you’ll be a “Junior Bum” with somewhat restricted access and will be allowed only two private messages per day.

Good luck in your pursuits and best wishes to you,

SC and the TDB team
