  1. My spiritual journey

    ---Now listening to: Forty-Six & 2!
  2. can qigong negate substance effect?

Cancel? No, if a substance is consumed, anything from caffeine to cocaine, qi gong will only accelerate its metabolism so that it will be more rapidly detoxified from the system; so quite the opposite actually, qi gong will intensify the effects, albeit the effects won't last as long as they normally would have.
  3. Unconditional Forgiveness Thread

I would like to be forgiven for not knowing what forgiven means; but I think it might have instantaneous induction otherwise one lives with resentment; harboring resentment is akin to drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die.
  4. Third Eye Something don't become attached to sensations, experiences.... what if it is a third eye something? and if not? no one can answer your personal questions with any certainty...you should not be concerned, just keep practicing, all will come. One mustn't get attached to or seek out 'confirmatory signs/experiences' of progress, this is very ill advised; much will manifest negatively. In the 14 or whatever pages of the following thread, there's actually a tiny bit of actual, useful info making it worth the read. http://www.thetaobums.com/index.php?/topic/15321-third-eye/
  5. Pain in getting startled - Meditation

Well, you're going to really want to avoid being startled while in meditation... You're basically wasting energy and negatively affecting the adrenal glands when this happens, and who knows what else; the sudden dispersion/transduction of calm meditative chi into alert tense/survivalist mode is not good; avoid it at all costs.
  6. involuntary semen loss

It is still being perpetuated that unless you clench the perineum qi somehow escapes from the hui yin?? Learn your mudras people.
  7. Agree, but the Oneness of the statue cannot be conveyed in words to the inexperienced with any success or hope of true comprehension....as since the statue does not exist it is unnameable.... for to shed light for a sleeping brother unto 10,000 things to reveal One statue is to attempt building a pyramid from the top down.
  8. Sleeping in half lotus

It seems the cult of Falun Gong harbors as much dogma as the Catholic church.
  9. waking up shaking - concerned

Do you engage in any form of physical fitness/exercise? If one partakes in internal energy cultivation but does not keep the body physically fit then stagnant/trapped energy may be trying to escape the body through the unconscious shaking. Other than seeing a doctor, I'd recommend you take up 20-30 minutes of jogging + cardiovascular/muscle work every day until you feel your body needs to rest, perhaps the night shakes will stop.
  10. Yoga Nidra

It is possible, when deep enough in meditation and enough energy accumulated, to transfer consciousness completely to a chakra; this is seen in the Mo Pai with the lower dan tian; such as in the third level in particular, when consciousness is fully rooted in the dan tian it must be manipulated to pierce the ming men and then "cut" (but actually a type of 'disintrigation', but paradoxically really a merging) and dissolve-merge the karmic cords/bonds holding the dan tian by moving as if on a rail along the energetic cords; point being one must be in complete paradoxical concentrated/emptiness consciousness of the dan tian chakra to accomplish such a feat. You may have transferred your consciousness to the heart chakra. Don't become attached to experiences.
  11. Why dismiss entheogenic experiences?

Speaking of ethneogenic experiences.... Renowned Shaman/Psychonaut Terrence McKenna's "Stoned Ape" Theory of Human Evolution Give it a read!
  12. How to Overcome a Phobia

Spiders . . . such wondrous Taoist master creatures! Always been fascinated by them, especially after meditating, then smoking a bowl and going on a nice walk outside and BAM: Huge beautiful spider web with its roguish maker meditating within, waiting with perfect patience to restore its chi. Spider watching is very Tao. Even observe spiders long enough to witness it hunting prey, it's like Taoist fishing, except you're not the fisher...or are you? but There is nothing to fear, but fear itself. Unless its the good Fear :. But anyways, try meditating on the subject of your phobia, you'll be surprised :
  13. Songs, you're clearly neither an alcoholic or addict, so thanks for sharing from your viewpoint of a complete absence of experience. Why would enlightenment have to "be out" just by never forgetting you're vulnerable to relapse? That is the point of the recurring title "addict", to know that if you pick up again you are going to fall back into the same hole you crawled out of...it has nothing to do with self-imposing limits or degradation; ego-based thought people like yourself cannot understand this, and like I said, you clearly have no real experience with the program or real addiction. You say I'm unable to understand that the success rate of AA is 5%? That ignorant statement alone speaks volumes about your experience with the program (or complete lack of) as anyone who knows anything about how AA is run knows that there is no recorded statistics or percentages, hence "alcoholics/narcotics ANONYMOUS" NOTHING is recorded, nice bullshit statistic... you really must enjoy speaking out of your @$$ like a complete ##### just to appear superior in your own mind, don't you? Another self-righteous egomaniac. And for the record, you don't need to be "glad AA worked for me" because I'm not an alcoholic, so shove your sarcasm you know where. "What happened, did their belief in Yoda, their 'whatever you want it to be Higher Power' desert them?? There are also untold millions who have quit their addictions all by themselves, without AA and without becoming "powerless". Actually, no... they deserted their higher power, their higher power did not deserve them.... no shit people relapse, are these your best argument skills? I never stated that AA is the only way to stay sober, nor do the AA texts, nor do the AA dinosaurs who are not zealous about it...you'll find your zealots everywhere. How is it that addiction is a "disease", yet it is the only disease for which the treatment is spiritual surrender to a Higher Power. Why doesn't that work for other diseases like diabetes or cancer? Because addiction is a SPIRITUAL disease, not a purely biological manifestation such as diabetes or cancer....are you really that dense? Not surprised, most of the posers with over 1k posts on these forums tend to be, pithy egomaniacs.... sorry to bust your forum glory!
  14. questions

Haha, yes, through the Tao, one learns that life is full of lovely paradox! For proper meditation, you MUST'NT "think nothingness, or think stillness" you must BE NOTHINGNESS, BE STILLNESS, your true nature!
  15. I really hope there is an archive of the great Tao Bums posts of the past, I too looked for posts past and was very dismayed at what I found, or didn't find rather.
  16. Wallamike, very well said; I agree with that theory and it is unfortunate that meditation isn't more emphatically stressed as a means of addiction recovery in many inpatient, outpatient treatment programs... even in many AA/NA circles it is often just an 'afterthought' or note aside. In any case, love is the greatest root of any cure for any addiction; the real, genuine energy of love, to replace the illusory "love" (fiending) of the substance. Meditation helps loads with this.
  17. I see drug addiction as a mental illness, and yes, meditation can potentially be, in a way, a cure. Heroin addicts for example, must accept that they will be 'addicts' their entire life, for the second they no longer consider themselves addicts, they will be prone to a likely inevitable relapse... this ideology upsets many people, but the underlying reasons for it are usually only truly comprehended by actual addicts, there's nothing shameful about living under the mindset of being an addict, addiction is a disease that doesn't simply go away, in fact it's a progressive disease that only grows stronger over time... it is ego-based, self-obsessed disorder, meditation assists in one's spirit transcending the selfish ego in order to find Unity with the One, the Tao, drastically diminishing and eliminating an addict's desire to use. The basic texts and 12 steps of the NA and AA programs all stress and emphasize upon a consistent practice of meditation, be it traditional or unorthodox, as long as stillness is reached.
  18. Meditation turning me into a nice guy wuss

Meditation allows the spirit to transcend the ego; you are stuck in desiring ego-based thought, meditation isn't turning you into a nice guy wuss, you act like you have no control over how you behave just because you meditate? It is not like taking a drug that has effects on you whether you like it or not. Or is it? Perhaps you should read between the lines, take the message given by your higher self.
  19. Ah yes, Vicodin, an opium derivative, Opium, the King of pain relief compounds, power akin to Homer's Lotus-eaters.. not many molecules different from heroin, the Queen of opiates, in fact, some consider it synthetic heroin....; I think any strong narcotic is going to have a chi diminishing effect, with anything containing oxycodone being the worst (ie the big OC oxycontin). Try herbal remedies such as kava kava, mild pain and anxiety relief, valerian root to promote restful sleep, vitamin c and b supplements.... take as little narcotic pain killers as possible, just enough to numb the pain, falling short of the 'high'.
  20. Immortals vs. Bodhisattvas (or arahats)?

Desiring and trying to become immortal will ensure that immortality not be reached.
  21. Taoist magical talismans

Talismans, ku's, fu's, anything external is not the true Way of the Tao. My teacher regularly reads these forums as a guest, more for amusement than anything else I believe, and he, in a very uncharacteristic fashion however, one day grunted in response to a personal inquiry of the man's extravagant claims, that mak sin ti is the biggest hocus pocus mossad disinformation machine snake oil shennenagins salesman to ever have disgraced the "tao pseudo-scholar theorist bums".
  22. Spiritual value of Tao for you.

Perhaps my favorite interpreted teaching of the Tao is that life is ultimately just "One" awesome, ultimate video game! And the player can do whatever he wants, so why waste time being negative in any way, when the Light is always present! Has understanding of the Tao affected my life? It's saved my life. The true Tao is not a belief or an idea, it simply just IS. The problem with folk initially trying to come to understand the Tao is that they look for it in scholarly words and dualistic concepts, while the true Tao cannot be named, only experienced!
  23. Why dismiss entheogenic experiences?

Mighty, there is just so much overgeneralizing in this thread its ridiculous... "people who do drugs are this or that; drugs are this this and this" and yet so obvious it is how little actual EXPERIENCE with substances do people have, yet that does not stop them from ranting on like impeccable scholars. Any drug can be a learning experience, but learn and move on, it is my belief that one cannot exist in harmony with the Tao and have reservations for doing drugs, the sage serves others, not himself.
  24. Why dismiss entheogenic experiences?

What experience with ethneogens do you have?
