I'm assuming that you're wrong FmAm.
  4. What made YOU laugh today/tonight ?

Punchline = Bartender - " I'm sorry we don't serve breakfast here." Joke = Two eggs and bacon walk into a bar.
  5. In my ideal dictionary under the word Rational one of the definitions would be... " See Brian - Tao Bums Moderator." You'd travel a long ways before finding a more rational pleasant and all round good sort as is our Brian. Long may he mod. On topic... I have not the first idea what that other thread is about at all.
  6. Proving you can't have a rock in your hand

    Shall there be a test?
  7. Can we not love our brother as ourselves?

I used to work with a Moslem lass who wore the full fig. All you could see was her eyes. She made her own clothes and they always had lovely embroidery around the sleeves. One Saturday shopping at the local market I saw and greeted her by name at one of those 'pick your own veg' stalls. My colleague selected her veg and was in front of me in the queue to have her shopping weighed and to pay. That stall was run by a Pakistani family and the Mom ( in western dress) was on the till. The Mom had seen me greet my colleague by name so when I came to pay she asked me... " How in the world could you know who that was?" I told her about the embroidery and that we worked together to which the Mom replied... " Well I can't understand anyone dressing like that in this day and age."
  8. Can we not love our brother as ourselves?

Freedom of speech is freedom of speech for everyone. For sure some will find what is uttered 'provocative'. However there's no excuse for seeking to violently oppose and attempt to silence what was said or drawn or written.
  9. Applying for Heavenly Pension

I could not imagine a day without a book to read even on a retreat. Not that I've done many of those.
  10. OK people I am coming clean...

    Anti-Dao?
  11. V Marco banished

    Who knew?
  12. It is really cold here in the Midwest

It's been above freezing here in Blighty this past few day but very windy. Overall mild for the time of year though. Still time for it to get worse.
  13. The Animal Within Me

Go for it Rara. If it works for you then do it. Hope you continue to feel better each day. All strength to ya buddy.
  14. Can we not love our brother as ourselves?

Dreadful business. Such hatred and needless loss of life. Tragic on so many levels.

The Pope is a Roman Catholic. Bears have arboreal bathrooms. Beer ( too much) makes you drunk.
  16. Full moon night shifts in secure psychiatric hospitals tend to be quite lively. Some patients become more agitated. Now and again you'd get one baying at the moon and disturbing the other patients.
  17. Modern day politics "Oh dear"

I dunno Jetsun, maybe not everyone in the UK believed the politicians 'reassurances' about the economy. Printing money wasn't necessarily a great idea. I've little time for any of our politicians or parties, they seem to be 'cloned' somehow and occupy a cosseted, well paid bubble remote from the concerns of everyday voters. All our MPs seem to do quite well for themselves what with good salaries plus generous expenses and staffing allowances. General Election her in May but already the parties are hard at campaigning. Pages and pages of politics in the newspaper each day. Time was we had a four week run up to elections and that was it. Nowadays it seems to be almost 24/7 coverage for months before. Whoever gets in they all just seem to be and so the same. Muddle along reactively taking unwarranted credit when market forces are good and blaming everyone but themselves when market forces are poor. I do think that it is the global and national market economies that actually 'control' what happens. The politicians just tag along behind. Hence the mess perhaps?
  18. We get our highest tides at full moon. The sea here can be quite dramatic at full moon especially if there's an onshore east wind behind it.
  19. Just started reading Tao, The Pathless Path

Welcome to TTB satsujin. There's an Osho book called 'When the shoe fits' which is based on Chuang Tzu (Taoist text). It's a personal favourite and maybe you might like it too. http://www.oshorajneesh.com/download/osho-books/Tao/When_the_Shoe_Fits.pdf
  20. Watching The Birds

This afternoon out with the dogs I watched a lone seagull attacking what looked to be a kestrel. It kept swooping down on the kestrel and screaming at it. The kestrel didn't seem too bothered and just kept soaring out of the way. Not seen that before. There are rabbits in the sand dunes so I expect the kestrel was after those.
  21. Why do we take life so serious? When did it start?

She has called me her 'domestic god'. Today I vacuumed all downstairs and then mopped all the laminate floors whilst Mrs GMP was out shopping. After two days of visitors with four humans, five dogs and our cat in here it needed doing. It doesn't take nearly as long to do that as it did in the old place either. That said, due to our proximity to the shore I wonder sometimes if we don't get almost as much sand in here as there is out on the beach.
  22. Christian Mysticism

You're right Jeff the word Trinity doesn't appear in the Bible. However the mainstream Christian denominations claim that the idea of a Trinity is there. For example these 'proof' texts from the Roman Catholics.... http://catholic-resources.org/Bible/Trinity.htm
  23. Happy New Year to all.

Happy 2015 to all and may the year bring you and yours all that you wish for yourselves.
