  1. Deer set from five animal sports is a good bedtime slow set for restful sleep with amazing dreams hydrogen.
  2. Don't curse the darkness. Light a candle. You need to get out more SunLover. There's someone out there right for you. The pain of broken relationship heals and we can each of us learn from past mistakes. The universe is sublimely indifferent but the sparks on this side of life are both comforting and fun. Maybe that's why we're supposed to experience and enjoy them. Cultivate towards positive change. Unhappiness is a negative choice. Positive alternatives are available. Eight strands of silk brocade QiGong set is an excellent place to start. Enjoy. :-)
  3. What would be "heaven" for a Taoist? :D

Right now? Heaven would be a nice cuppa green tea....... Ahhhh....... just poured one. Bliss. :-) PS That clip is crude. Is it from some game?
  4. 5 Elements and Personality Typology

Well that's handy to know. Thank you. Thing is the five elements co-relate fluidly 'in' us and personality is not necessarily 'fixed', thank goodness. Cultivator in year one is one person, the same cultivator seven years later is a different person.
  5. How does it feel to be in Love with the Divine?

This is just a blind guess but how about.... "Kinda needy, whilst waiting for the right person for you to come along".
  6. Do you "belong to"/follow any particular tradition?

That is SO right Stosh. Even the so called purists are following a mish mash of traditions because in each generation something is added or dropped so someone claiming ancient lineage today will be cultivating in some ways that would be unrecognisable to the guy who started the lineage off. Trick is to stick with what works for you BUT really stick to it avoiding changing cultivation like some folk change socks. Lineage is a substitute religion for some. I posted similar thoughts to this on a Buddhist site and was flamed from all directions. Never let it be said that Buddhism is everywhere a way of peace. Not on some internet it isn't. ;-)
  7. Well if that's what folk like to do they will do it but it is unnatural and unhealthy. A cultivated body develops regular rhythms whereas short interventions like this one or fasting are just that, short term. Burger-fast-burger or lethargy-insomnia-lethargy are jagged cycles. Gentle consistent cultivation is harder to stick to but healthier . Running after novelty is symptomatic of a disordered cultivation. A veggie diet,no stimulants or intoxicants plenty of water and daily cultivation along with some external form of exercise will ensure sleeping and breathing like a baby. People crave novelty but cultivation requires sticking to tried and tested methods year after year. It takes time but perseverance pays.
  8. Do you "belong to"/follow any particular tradition?

“…….lineage assertions are as wrong as they are strong.” (McRae, xix) McRae, R. (2003): Seeing Through Zen, Encounter, Transformation, and Genealogy in Chinese Chan Buddhism. Berkeley: University of California Press.
  9. Agreed. We don't proselytise or evangelise. That's for the Xtians and New Kadampa Buddhists (The wannabe-Tibetan version of Jehovah Witnesses). Anybody destined for this path, they'll find it. If not... "NOP" (Not Our Problem).
  10. Wei-Wu-Wei, paradox unraveled

Just do it. Much better than writing or talking about it.
  11. Do you "belong to"/follow any particular tradition?

As far as doing mix 'n match I'd say carry on and do it in good health if it works for you right now. 'Guilt' isn't a Taoist sentiment, if it was wrong, what the heck; you've learnt not to try it again. Zen and Occultism sounds like fun. Zazen plus turning your enemies into frogs. Cool Eventually if folk stick with this path then they find a cultivation that suits them, cultivate it in a disciplined fashion and at some point a master pops up. Boruing as it sounds the only effective cultivation is one stuck at for a long time with dedication and discipline aiming to get better and learn without being sidetracked by some other novelty. Changing approaches like changing socks is the norm hence lots of beginners very few teachers and hardly any Masters. But cultivation is a like river wherein a mouse can paddle in te shallows and an elephant swim in te deeps, there is room for everybody. You just have to step into the water first so that you can begin. Disciplined cultivation does kinda mean eventually cultivating in some sort of centre be it a temple or a dojo or something where other people are doing much the same thing as you are doing. Otherwise YOYO (You are On Your Own). Those places tend to pop up before your eyes as and when you need them. Fact is they were there all the time but you didn't notice them. Synchronicity is a bit like owning a blue car then swapping it for a new red car. All of a sudden you notice just how many red cars there are on the roads. They were always there but you were not invested in noticing them before you bought that new n'shiny red car. You get to that stage where you are cultivating successfully and happily as part of a 'tribe' then some red car from that tribe might well point you towards a master or you'll discer a master yourself. It's an old way but a tried and tested one.

We were chatting about lineages elsewhere. Some covet lineage rather like some Xtians value apostolic succession. The Buddhist Boards such as Dharma Wheel are full of plonks shouting 'my lineage is better than yours' at one another. Quite sweet really. IMHO (GM Chang Lineage) Lineage tdoes not matter a toss and the more one makes of one's chosen or identified-with lineage thn thee further one could well be away from what it is that the lineage seeks to transmit. What works for one cultivator will not suit another hence the wide variety on offer. No one 'needs' a master in the early stages and when someone is ready then a master will appear. Not by magic as a rule but by synchronicity, which is like magic; but different.
  13. Pure Land Buddhism

Yes. Nembutsu is the most popular devotional practice in our centre. The trick is simply to chant. All else is simply words, attempting to create lengthy exopliocations rarther flies in te face of the simplicity of the praxis, each chanters experiences will and must be different. Cultivation is practice rather than rhetoric. HTH
  14. Visited by translucent beings

Perfectly normal. Nothing to worry about. Happens to far more people than have the courage to talk about it for fear of being though odd. Tell them to go away with intention and they usually do. Any persistant little beggars are best dealt with by a specialist. Most Taoist centres have one or two of those. Don't use anyone who tries to charge you for the service. Healing in these areas needs to be freely given to work well. If you are in UK check our centre via website at my profile . We have several entity specialists and all healing is gratis .

  16. Smoking is a type of meditation

PM me for a useful stop-smoking movement should you wish to give up. No judgement intended. I smoked cigarettes when younger but anything that might lead to addictive attachment hinders effective cultivation. Plus you'll have more money once you stop. As for that Jamaican dancing tobacco that some of the young people favour. That rubbish is for puny weak-willed-losers.
  17. Freedom of thought

I do agree. Was referring to non human sorts. I have attempted in my school teaching days to teach some students who presented with less basic intelligence than has an amoeba. Waste of time but the pay was good and the long holidays excellent.. Best two things about the job remain... July & August. Maybe it's your Karma not to believe in Karma M.

Two dogs and a cat here. Cat's in charge. All live in the house. Mrs GrandmasterPs horse would also be in here if we let it. Cat convinced it early on that it's a giant puppy. With the possible exception of domestic ducks there can be fewer more dopey creatures than horses.
  19. Yep you gotta compete to stay in front of the game of life that's for sure. QiGong is a brilliant way to take time out from all that BS. You'll never beat market forces no point wasting energy trying. Soon as a market is identified players appear all fighting for a piece of the action as witness the ads above these posts.
