  1. Watching The Birds

Fruit bat poo makes fabulous fertiliser. There's a cottage industry round those roosts in bagging up and selling on bat shit. The people who do that work only have a short window to gather up the shit and it is a competitive business so they are under a lot of pressure to get the job done. Some of the workers 'crack' under the pressure hence... " Bat Shit Crazy" Just thought I'd mention that.
  2. What the hell is the abyss anyways?

It'll come soon enough. Once it does, as it does to everyone now and again through life; you'll be glad enough once you're on the other side of whatever 'abyss' it was that opened up.
  3. Watching The Birds

Best book I ever read about Crows is Mark Cocker's 'Crow Country'. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crow-Country-Mark-Cocker/dp/0099485087/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1411738822&sr=1-1&keywords=crow+country Fantastic read and beautifully written.
  4. Who needs I Ching? The Tao Bums is my oracle!

Synchronicity happens all the time. Change your red car for a new blue car and, suddenly; you see lots of blue cars on the road that you never noticed before. They were there but you weren't 'in the zone' to notice them. If someone on TTC didn't find I Ching or TTC related material then that would be remarkable. On the other hand were they to discover similar materials on ( for example) an Angling forum, then that might be considered unusual. Birds of a feather flock together.
  5. sensory deprivation

" protected room" was the asylum euphemism for a padded cell. Patients put into a padded cell with the light switched off were in total silence and complete darkness. It was used more for punishment than containment.
  6. There is no such thing as "empty mind"

Emptier Mind? Maybe. Everyday business crowds the mind whereas mindful cultivation is less 'busy' and creates some mental breathing space 'north of the neck'. Would agree that a totally empty mind might not be possible nor, necessarily; a good thing to have. Not and operate machinery that's for sure.
  7. Is being unborn the same as being dead ?

It suits me others will have different views and all of us have as much chance of being 'close'. Nobody knows for sure that's a fact. Physics I do like. Back in Grammar ( High) school year 1 term 1 the Physics guy told us in lesson 1. " Energy can neither be created or destroyed." Seemed fair enough to me as far as covering all the bases went so I kinda zoned him out after that and dropped Physics at the first opportunity.
  8. Upping Sticks

Kudos to work. " Up to 21 days from leaving date before severance cheque issued." HR lass said they like to hang on to the money for as long as possible so they pay out on day 21 after the last employment date and don't factor in any leave taken. Promised she'd do what she could as she knew I was moving out of the area 3-hours drive away. You have to attend in person to receive the cheque and sign for it Hence I was expecting to have to drive back from the new house to collect my cheque sometime in October. 'Phone goes this morning and it's the HR lass.. " Your cheques here ready for collection." Took her in a box of fancy biscuits . Bless her little cotton socks. Cheque banked and notionally already spent . Mrs GMP is having a new car.

I spent the last few years of a longish working life inspecting and validating teacher training & education Somebody has to do it or standards can slip. ( Not me though. I retired last Friday. ) I do agree some validation seeking can be unhealthy if, for example ; you mean that Millhouse van Houten ( out of the Simpsons)... Riff... When he's just tipped off Bart's Mom to something naughty Bart did... " Sorry Bart but I crave adult validation." That's not good but statutory validation of process or product and against national standards... That's essential.
  10. Is being unborn the same as being dead ?

FWIW on our path we reckon that everyone is an eternal spirit inhabiting a temporary body. When we leave this one we've the option ( not compulsory) of being reincarnated into a fresh body. Or not. As we choose. There's a porous veil between our eternal spirit and our temporal consciousness. Cultivation renders that veil more porous over time. Everybody's mediumistic from birth and gets glimpses. Trained and working mediums get to see more than most cos they practice regularly. There's a Spiritualist motto that you'd see sometimes painted up as a text behind the platform in old time Spiritualist churches... "There is no death. There are no dead."

All these retention lads. ( always lads and one suspects that some OPs in this vein were typed using just one hand) Just as soon as they find a significant other they're off. Rocks and all. They aint getting any hence seek to carve a modicum of virtue from their unfortunate necessity.
  12. Petitionary prayer - we all do it!

But the shop shuts at tea time.
  13. Scottish Independence

    Where's Northumbria?
  14. TTB appreciation

" Jizzweasel" is a neologism of choice in some quarters; apparently.

That poor man. He mustn't know if he's coming or going.
  16. AMERICAN GUY ATTAINING RAINBOW BODY! :D

American ? 1930s? Maybe one of these guys?
  17. Happy Equinox

Autumn Equinox is ( supposedly) the best day of the year to think about 'work-life' balance and plan for any changes needed. Equinoctial felicitations to one and all.
  18. Nembutsu's good too. That involves chanting or speaking whilst playing it. Silence isn't compulsory for effective cultivation.
  19. First Post: Discovering Mo Pai Nei Kung

Good luck with that Mo Pai journey. You're sure to meet some really nice people along the way. Known for the warmth of its collegiality is Mo Pai.
  20. ...Wait...

I reckon she can smell the treat. Super clever she is. The other two dogs just stare at me or bark until I give them the treat.
  21. So your goal is not to have a goal then?
  22. 1st Noble Truth

Taking that list as 'Dhuka' then you are right. Everything is 'suffering' according to that list. My point is that everything isn't necessarily suffering. Some things are merely inconveniences, such as spilling tea for example. There are distinctions and we all make those all the time.
