  1. What happens to suicides?

So you think you're trying to do better eh? It is your job to find the meaning you will have. Suicide hurts the people who did care about you , on whatever level they did care. Its a pro-rated vindictive action. Eventually , everybody just goes on with their own life , in which they have found meaning. Or , they find that they have their fair share of happiness without some thing to hang a hat on. I liked several peoples contributions , but you might not be ready for what they said.
  2. Trump talk

    Same principle , identity politics.
  3. What are you watching on Youtube?

Yeah, that was an interesting discussion! Good find.
  4. Trump talk

Perhaps quiet ,because this is a very ugly set of scenarios.

Might as well admit it, you're addicted to love. 😉 Actually, I prefer when the speaker refers to themsef rather than says WE, for this kind of thing. It just reads better. "I have no talent , So I am on the phone 24/7 because it makes me less miserable. I should instead concentrate on all those dull moments when there's nothing to do, so I can tell myself I am a genius ,Like Skinner, who accidentally placed the wire in the wrong part of the rats brain. " What the speaker fails to understand, is that , while there Are people of extra-ordinary talent, . ....the exact same mechanism is at play in the compulsive phone users , which makes for the persistence needed to Become exceptional at something.. stubborn intermittent reinforcement.

Yeah, he says that , he sees these folks as representative of the responsible journalists and influencers who may have some issues to air about the platforms , It makes sense that these are people who are not just airing a gripe , but want the system to work. I wouldn't be too worked up about who was invited or not. .. They didn't invite me either!
  8. App Developer looking foor Daoist Creatives

I'm curious how someone else will be making sense of the cat herd.

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) built and operated the first molten salt reactor (MSR) in the late 1960s. It was a 7.4-megawatt (thermal) test unit, and its design was being considered for a nuclear-powered bomber. Terrestrial Energy's reactor is based on ORNL's denatured MSR design. Terrestrial's MSR is a modular design, able to range from 80 megawatts to 600 megawatts, and targeted at remote, military, or industrial sites, both on- and off-grid. Using the small modular reactor (SMR) concept, reactors can be built in factories and shipped to the site already constructed, rather than being built -- expensively and riskily -- on site. Rather than engineer and build reactors capable of producing more than 1 gigawatt of electric power, SMRs can produce 10 megawatts to 6,000 megawatts of electricity (or heat). Megawatt: One megawatt equals one million watts, or 1,000 kilowatts, roughly enough electricity for the instantaneous demand of 750 homes at once. That number fluctuates (some say one megawatt is enough for 1,000 homes) because electrical demand changes based on the season, the time of day, and other factors.

This is just so incredibly reasonable I am looking for the reason why it hasn't replaced everything else yet. It potentially produces enough energy to remove CO2 from the atmosphere to make substitute fossil fuel , which would be carbon neutral.

As I read it , they show excellent correlation between the sunspots and the isotopes , but the correlation looks weaker for global temperatures. If there is a problem with lots of CO2 , I think its in 'acidification' of ocean water. A theory proposed about the sun activity , it hat it has a greater effect than just that of decreased insolation , there is also a change in atmospheric albedo. So a spike in co2 might mitigate some of the effects , or exacerbate them. Dunno , but what we should all see is that there are natural changes and cycles , that change is constant , that the earth moderates itself ,and life plays a part in that. We haven't got the science nailed down , so to me -it makes sense to do some things like reforestation , terra-optimizing, cleaning up the mess and so forth, which generate ecological benefit, regardless of whether its going to shift the climatic cycles. It doesn't have to be painful at all , there just needs to be political responsiveness.
  12. Climate Change

It just means that we will have an uptick in cosmogenic isotope production , don worry.

"The new model of the Sun's solar cycle is producing unprecedentedly accurate predictions of irregularities within the Sun's 11-year heartbeat. It draws on dynamo effects in two layers of the Sun, one close to the surface and one deep within its convection zone. Predictions from the model suggest that solar activity will fall by 60 per cent during the 2030s to conditions last seen during the 'mini ice age' that began in 1645, according to the results presented by Prof Valentina Zharkova at the National Astronomy Meeting in Llandudno. The model predicts that the pair of waves become increasingly offset during Cycle 25, which peaks in 2022. During Cycle 26, which covers the decade from 2030-2040, the two waves will become exactly out of synch and this will cause a significant reduction in solar activity. 'In cycle 26, the two waves exactly mirror each other – peaking at the same time but in opposite hemispheres of the Sun,' said Zharkova. 'Their interaction will be disruptive, or they will nearly cancel each other. 'We predict that this will lead to the properties of a 'Maunder minimum''

Q1) I would be willing to take some unpopular measures to make a difference in the state of the planet without needing further evidence, however the initial actions like re-forestation , wouldn't really be so problematic. Q2) There is use of fossil fuels in the production of nuclear energy - it may be on the order of magnitude per kilowatt- and so , It doesnt solve the issue. Reforestation would do a huge amount of good , besides sequestering CO2. Lets try to insert that into the public consciousness, and get across the threshold of actually Doing it. Plant a freekin tree in your yard. Ban political fundraising , pass term limits.

I can see how the idea is being spun, however , Jung was getting at perhaps something else. Though I read the article, I am not clear , there's several pivot points. I was told that traditionally the spirit animals were not totems. Totems functioned as labels to keep track of affiliations. The spirit animals were teachers, who were of value, precisely because they had characters which did not.. come natural. These teachers could change over time, rounding out a personality and lending flexibility. Then ya got yer furries zodiac things, mascots fantasies patronus ? ,and muses. And finally there's role playing and visualizations. However, the inferior functions might be Freudian principles or aspects of personality. Yueya should perhaps clarify if the OP intends anything beyond sharing an association or gentle critique.

I was watching a Frontline episode , and found it strange to hear them rewriting history , that , the cold war was an outgrowth of the space race. For the younger crowd , that may seem plausible. The reason is , that by kicking out the struts which frame events and attitudes , people tend to lose track of what 'true' and 'normal' are. There are those leftists who want to gain power by creating threat and aiming blame. But its really just fact that we do not know what the world will be like warmer, if that is happening , what is responsible , or if it will be good. How could we find out ? rule 1) stop lying 2) admit what is true 3 ) commit to cooperate regardless of whether we are deemed correct or not. I watched some neat clips on de- desertification , rejuvenation of depleted land , well, a reasonable person figures that it would be a good thing regardless of whether it was a CO2 sink , lets start with that . Would it really be so horrible for 1% of GDP from everybody be directed at a random beneficiary country for a cycle? End a disease , fix an earthquakes destruction , build a hydroelectric dam yadda yadda.

I'm not sure I could , since I don't think I would see your posts in the first place.

I am just responding to what you are writing to me , You said you were done with the thread, you arent , and so that was false. You tried to label me as a racist, and I am not folding under the crap accusation. Now again you try to gaslight , this is what you said. "Not illegals but the indigenous population (Pueblo) that have been here for up to 1000 years, as well as the Spanish Conquistadors and Mexicans ( settled in what is presently the U.S.) at least a century before Jamestown) in which their descendants are the majority of the population. " Descendants are of genetic lineage , hereditary characters like skin color are genetic, that is NOT culture, its biology. The thing you fail to do is recognize that you are the one making the racial assumptions , you are imbuing the production of Co2 as being a racial war, and you are defending deforestation on racial grounds. All you really had to do was admit that it was inappropriate to tie the two things together and preferentially blame the west. That's all , no biggie. I wouldn't even ask for the apology I deserve , I would just let it slide.
  19. Climate Change

Hispanic isn't a race, and its not the same as Pueblo self identification. And if deteriorates into racial categorization , you can look right at yourselves for that responsibility.
  20. Climate Change

Sorry , the phrase brown people isn't insulting ,, unless you feel its insulting to have your dark skin mentioned , and that wouldn't make any sense , since you were the one who mentioned it ! Don't you know the Demographics of your own state ! Santa Fe Demographics According to the most recent ACS, the racial composition of Santa Fe was: White: 84.83% Other race: 7.79% Two or more races: 3.01% Native American: 2.05% Asian: 1.31% Black or African American: 0.88% Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander: 0.14% Nearly 1 in 10 New Mexico residents is an immigrant, while one in nine residents is a native-born U.S. citizen with at least one immigrant parent. Wait ! You have so many illegals , they are the majority of the population now ! Guess you need that question reinstated on the census too !
  21. Climate Change

I didn't denigrate anyone, and I really do not give a hoot what color your skin is , its your side that makes ado about that, and proof is YOU JUST Mentioned it ! I never asked ! And I am not surprised if the average skin tone was dark in Santa Fe considering all the number of illegals that are down there.
  22. Essentially true, (though sometimes I am just mischievous), I truly believe that the things we need to consider, are things we do not want to hear. ( and never will want to hear) An argumentative win means that a person has reinforced what they already believed , whilst an argumentative loss means that one has gained a perspective they didn't have , (and most often didn't want. ) Who does not want validation? Who wants to accept that they have erred? Its just an ironic fact of the human condition . And for the same sort of reason sound advice is rejected , even though it has been solicited. Its not fair to the responder , and does not serve the solicitor. There is that saying about the cup being full already and that one needs to empty it, when one does that , there is no need to defend, nor advance, an opinion. Such a thing that I was very loathe to concede was that in the West , we are not really prepared for the Daoist messages as presented in the text. The division seemed ...poorly grounded , however , I have come to see that it is certainly the tradition , 1) to look very shallowly as the written word , 2 to express doubt right off the bat 3 not to realize that all the participants are affecting all the others responses very inter-connected-ly. I can't really say from personal experience that the Chinese dinner table talk is all that different , but considering that as possible , the trends in our own communication can be understood better. Often people will get frustrated over time , nobody seems to be reading our-their message , though we deem it to be a good valid one. The poster has to bail out for a while , sometimes they do not come back , other times they do. but .. Even more common , new members do not give enough benefit of a doubt , or do not hear what they expect, and bail.

Actually I agree, both white , and non white play a role in the destruction of things. However one should note that the US is not all white people , that's a false stereotype. And I see you are still not Condemning Brazil or China , you still are focused on Western countries exclusively. That's why I cant take the argument as sincere. The principle , that people are being environmentally destructive , is true wherever it occurs, and by whomever does it. Your argument appears to be anti-west , and you give everybody else a 'pass'. So you spin the argument to be about the civilized , or the non-brown or whatever, its still the same. You make your argument in a free speech west , but you do not concede credit to the west. Its a double standard which disproves the sincerity of the argument you compose.

Was the idea to relate based on what ones 'dark side' personality was ,, or ,, to visualize themselves as the animals they think they best match ?
