The "waker-upper" or more appropriately, the "sleep preventer" is on DVD 2, the 90 80 50 20 meditation at the tail end of the DVD.

    Many thanks.

Really enjoying FPCK after a hiatus of a couple of years. Even just doing the first three seated MSW warm up - so powerful. I end up carrying the energy all day

    Many thanks indeed.

So just the one exercise on DVD 2 then.

I really need to get to some of those advanced exercises on disc 7. Had the DVD for years but tend to stick to the exercises from discs 1 and 2 out of habit.

Can you remember which one is the waker-upper? I think it's on DVD 2?

and the Big sleeper on DVD 7, MSW 1: 50-20-10

  3. Hi there FPCK friends.

Can anyone remind me of the two seated exercises that are supposed to be good for hair? I think it is one from CD 2 and one from CD 7 but can’t remember which ones.

currently feeling a bit high from just a very small amount of fpck, such powerful stuff.

  4. I always seem to have one nostril blocked and one clear at any given time.

It seems to switch between the two but very rarely do I have full use of both nostrils.

I'm not aware of any allergies, have not ever really had hayfever and apart from this have no respiratory problems.

Obviously this is not ideal for meditation.

Has any one else experienced this?

    Is there a cure?

    Help!

  5. I love Chris Hedges! :D

Also I come from a strong Atheist background, so that's how I think, it's in my blood.

I had an experience in 2005 that opened my eyes to the reality there is much we don't understand.

I can't say I am an atheist any longer as a result, but I am still highly skeptical in nature.

So many teachings are just made up gibberish, it's like panning for gold, and not knowing which bits are real gold till you test them each yourself. It's maddening.

I try not to fill my head with too much nonsense, unless a teacher or system has been validated scientifically or personally.

I know truth is out there, it infuriates me I am not evolved enough to grasp it though.

    Thanks for posting this clip.

I'm going to get this guys book, he makes a lot of sense.

  6. Updating with a message from Jenny

    Greetings Everyone,

Many of you have asked me if I have a plan to go to Europe to teach a seminar. I have great news for you. xxxx (edited for privacy) very kindly wants to organize a seminar for me in the UK. He has been looking into a lovely venue where participants could sleep and eat for the duration of the course. When we live together, it can bring a group closer for study and to know each other better. It is a wonderful opportunity, but the limitation is we can only have limited people to stay, so it will be first come first served.

When I am in the UK, it is possible I will offer energy healing treatments, healing consultations or private training for those who may need it. These service are separate from the seminar event. Therefore, it would be best for those who need my help to contact me in advance, so I will extend my stay time and rent a place for this work. I have helped people from many parts of the world. They came to the US for my healing treatments. I am now coming to your door. Take advantage of it. I treat issues that cannot be helped by medical science, especially related with energetic entity issues, which cannot be detected by any scientific machine, but it can destroy the person's health and even life. See testimony from my website.

If you are interested in the seminar please contact [email protected] for the details and to register as soon as you can to reserve your space. If you are interested in my healing services, please contact me at: [email protected].

Please kindly pass information to your friends who may be interested in the event.

Best wishes and hope to see you at the event,

    Sifu Jenny Lamb

  7. Hi there,

I've been talking with Sifu Jenny Lamb about the possibility of her coming to the UK to teach a 2.5 day Yigong course.

The event would likely be in the countryside and would include food and accommodation.

To make it work I think we'll need a minimum of 12 participants.

If you have an interest please email PM me. Please let me know if you'd be will to travel and if possible what you think a realistic price for the weekend would be.

    Thanks

  8. Dear Jeremiah Z,

Fascinating that you were an archaeologist in your previous life this life. I can't believe that that inner discipline isn't still screaming for more digs to work. You are indeed very lucky to be able to concentrate your work hours into a couple of days each week and to be able to spend much time writing and practicing things holistic and having fun. I have had a similar lifestyle starting from 1991 when I retired from a successful corporate career that was everything except meaningful--to proliferate the practice of Tai Chi, Qigong, and healing arts through media projects (television and film as well as dvds).

Thank you so much for your kind and generous offer to organize Flying Phoenix Qigong workshops in the U.K. for me. Although this isn't obvious through one's individual practice, it has been my constant experience in teaching--without exception--that group practice of the FP Qigong accelerates the energizing effects on each individual at a geometric rate.

My teacher, GM Doo Wai, when he first authorized me to publish videos teaching the FP Qigong in 1993, casually prophesied, "you will get a lot of good response from this art." With the DVD's completed in 2003, and with the tremendous aid of the internet and this discussion thread, I think we've crossed a critical threshold where smart people are recognizing the powerful potential of this safe and fast-working Qigong system.

I look forward to plotting with you FP Qigong workshops in the U.K.

    Sincerely,

    Sifu Terry Dunn

Hi guys, keep me in the loops about the UK classes. I'd be keen to attend.

    Jeff

  9. Consider reaching out to Ya Mu (Michael Lomax) to ask your question. He has spoken about qi projection and performing onstage. I don't doubt he can answer your question about projecting into other universes. And hearing music from other planes.

    Best to you. :)

Edit: Might take a bit of work of daily cultivating. But Michael's system is quite powerful.

    Thanks Rainbowvain, I'll do that!

  10. This may seem a bit farfetched but here we go...

I'm a composer and I'm looking for a way to be able to project into - the astral plane, the future or a parallel universe - so I can hear music from other dimensions which I could then bring back to our own reality.

Is anyone aware of any paths I might follow in order to do such a thing?

One idea I had was to write a hypnotic script but would love to hear any other ideas or thought on the topic.

  11. This is one of my favourites. I don't know what an enlightened person looks like but this is someone I take great inspiration from

Among White Clouds Is really good - It follows some Buddhist mountain hermits and their quest for understanding.

This is not a Zen documentary at all but ties in to the ideas of the big mind and very very inspiring.

  12. Hello Jeffrito,

There's no problem with alcohol consumption in moderation interfering with health and Qi cultivation. The key word that you used is, of course, moderation. It also depends on one's constitution and and blood chemistry. Some races have high levels of alcohol dehydrogenase; other's like Amerindian and some Asian cultures have much lower levels genetically, and thus don't metabolize alcohol as well.

I can't really give you advice as to how much I think you should drink or that you should give up alcohol. I don't think that drinking in moderation, especially in Britain (one of my favorite countries, btw--I love London and the countryside) would adversely affect your cultivation using the Flying Phoenix Qigong.

I myself am not a big drinker. I like good wines with dinner, and will have an occasional cocktail or a beer, but I don't have a habit of drinking beer.

I am very sensitive, however, to the oxidizing effects of alcohol. If you didn't take organic chemistry in college, most people translate "oxidizing" as "aging". In my younger years, whenever I felt that I was drying up and my tissues were getting dry and "craggly", I would reduce sugars and of course alcohol, because there is plenty of sugar in alcohol.

While drinking in moderation wouldn't hurt your FP Qigong cultivation, so long as your overall life-style is balanced in terms of work, sleep, and nutrition, if you wanted to maximize the "yield" or productivity of your FP Qigong training, curtailing alcohol consumption is an option. Remember that the FP Qigong comes from the monastic tradition at Ehrmeishan. If you want to replicate a more pure lifestyle as per that monastic tradition, cutting back on alcohol is an option.

In conclusion, my answer is: it's totally up to you!

    Hope this helps.

    Terry Dunn

    Hi Terry,

Thanks ever so much for your reply.

It's nice to have a balanced and considered opinion on alcohol. It's good to know that even teachers and life long practitioners can enjoy a drink sometimes.

Look me up if you're ever coming to the UK, it would be great to set up a weekend session out in the Kent countryside.

    Jeffrito

  13. You're welcome. Growant.

And I look forward to those beers down the road. You are obviously a man of taste if Bass Ale was the first beer you ever tried! Unlike you, it took me a long, long time to discover that brew (--not that I was ever a big beer-drinker...(I'm not)).

    Best,

    Sifu Terry Dunn

    Hi Terry,

May I ask, what are your thoughts on alcohol consumption? Does it interfere with chi cultivation?

I drink moderately. Being British it can be hard not to when socialising.

Do you think alcohol is ok in moderation or is it best to try to give it up all together.

Other please feel free to comment too.

    J

  14. Imagine the day came when you decided to escape from the boundaries of modern society in deeper pursuit of your spiritual cultivation and alchemical goals. Now imagine you could only take 3 book with you to guide you on your path for the rest of your natural life. Which would they be?

    For me these are.

    1. Chinese Medical Qigong Therapy by Jerry Alan Johnson

    2. Taoist Yoga, Alchemy and Immortality by Lu K'uan Yu

    3. How To Measure and Deepen Your Spiritual Realization by Huai-Chin Nan and William Bodri

Of all the books i've read, i feel like the combination of the three above contain everything one needs to help them succeed from a practical point of view.

What would you take with you?

I just can't get mu head around 'Taoist Yoga, Alchemy and Immortality', where do you think I'm going wrong?

    My choice:

Opening The Hand of Thought - Kosho Uchiyama

The Three Pillars of Zen - Philip Kapleau

The Way of Qigong - Kenneth Cohen

  15. There are 3 somewhat varying presentations of this practice (that I know of). Max and Jenny have already been mentioned. Chris Matsuo's version is called Kwan Yin Magnetic Qigong (KYMQ) (link, link). Different people find just-what-they-need in different places. :)

I did consider these but ultimately the price of the DVDs put me off. Maybe something for the future though...

  16. I'm no instructor but in the beginning I made my legs vibrate a bit on purpose with my own will, then the vibration took over by itself without me doing it. Take it easy though it can be powerful.

After reading this I just tried it again and willed myself a little for my legs to tremble.

I did get some really big movements but I couldn't work out whether I was doing consciously doing them or not. I could certainly will myself to stop.

    Wow, really interesting though.

  17. Jenny Lamb taught the Yigong level 1 to Max who then changed it's name to Kunlun and then he added Red Pheonix. I only experimented with Red Pheonix a few times but it felt too contrived to me so I didn't like it, but as far as my understanding goes the basic level 1 Yigong/Kunlun method is all that beginners need for six months to a year.

I just received my DVD (arrived yesterday).

It's very well produced. No spontaneous movements yet but it is only the 2nd day of practice!

EDIT: Jenny Lamb Yigong DVD that is...

  18. Yes this was a beautiful thread. They are some who disagree with your opinion. Everyone deserves the best in their cultivation. The Doo family Arts are awesome. I wish everyone the utmost success.

Seek the truth, it is out here. Nothing is better than the source! You will never go wrong following the exact teaching of GM Doo Wai.

Please do not insult me, this may compelled me to respond.

God bless all of you and God bless the United States of America.

"He who says does not know and he who knows does not say."

  19. ...and being opposed to an unnatural and invented separation, causes more unnatural and invented separation.

I guess you've always gotta maintain balance, and that includes keeping the hatred alive in some form. If it's uncouth to hate people from another country, now you are allowed to hate people who hate people from other countries.

It's just pure hypocrisy, that is typical of shallow spiritual style thinking (no offense to steve or anyone else, I don't think he is shallow, hypocritical or wrong...just sharing an alternative way of looking at this point).

"There has to be no separation in my thinking!"...oh wait, just by attempting to do that you're creating separation between separating and not-separating. It would be better to attempt nothing, and just be natural like everyone else.

Can we accept that the world is filled with people who identify with made up things, who derive much pleasure and meaning from doing that? Can we see that by pointing out all of the things which, theoretically, may be contrived, we are becoming even more contrived than those things?

I have never mentioned hate. This is your word. I don't hate anyone.

I'm just saying some of these things are invented and we don't actually need them and it's a question I specifically raise to people on the path, not anyone else.

I can and do accept the world is filled with people who identify with made up things. That is the way of things.

  20. ...but being opposed to nationalism is just another polarizing force in the world as well.

What's wrong with people celebrating their roots?

It creates an unnatural (and invented) separation.

Europeans often find American's claims to their roots utterrly hilarious.

There's a great quote in the Soprano's where Tony Soprano's crew go to Sicily. When the mob turn their nose up at the food and ask for meatballs and spaghetti, one of the locals says "and we though the germans (were bad)"

  21. One could apply this progression and cultural identity to Taoism and Buddhism

are they too delusion to maintain this identity? culture also includes philosophies, teachings etc

    Yes I think so.

I think they are just vehicles. Once the destination has been reached the vehicle can be left behind.

That's not to say we can't get wisdom from them but we shouldn't cling to them. (Also maybe these ideas are completely wrong)

If I was to say "I am a Buddhist" I think it says more about what I am not (e.g. a Christian, a Muslim etc) than what I am.

I'd prefer not to define myself quite so rigidly.

I'm going to add that this is all very idealistic and of course in reality I do feel some sense of national pride. We've been conditioned that way so there's no need to feel ashamed about it. But I also think it is a layer that just isn't necessary.

Finally, I am very grateful for circumstances I was born into.
