  1. So based on some of the posts from members in this thread, Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming is a snake oil salesman fraud who doesn't know the first thing about Qigong...

    OR

Are said members just idiots who don't know jack shit but pretend to because they read it in some poorly translated book -- or worse, read it on the *gasp* internet?

    He promotes:

~ Sitting in meditation without being grounded on natural soil.

    ~ MCO

... and many more standard Qigong practices, but I decided to highlight those two because of what's been said in this thread.

"Sitting in meditation without being grounded on natural soil."

I have no idea what you meant. Do you really sit on your butt on the "natural soil" during sittint meditaion?

I've read Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming's book and watched his video. He seems to be knowledgeable. Calling him a snake oil saleman just because you don't agree with his opinion is extreme.

  2. Thanks for posting the video. I like them.

The tai chi in the video is standard form. I know there is white crane tai chi form, which I like. I think it'll be more interesting to put that on DVD, at least it's unique.

  3. regarding retention-centric - if there is no mind celibacy then there can be no body celibacy. that's just a fact to be dealt with here. one needs to attain a measure of accomplishment in mind celibacy before even thinking about physical celibacy, retention etc.

What is mind celibacy? Can you give me some solid examples?

I used to work as a bouncer in a strip club. What could I think to have mind celibacy in that environment? Thanks.

  4. Are not habitual tendencies transformed into inner, still habitual tendencies? Is not "good" karma, still karma?

Could the practice be to accept and then drop (let go of) habitual tendencies?

    Best wishes, Jeff

I understood it as "from mountain to sea", i.e. anywhere between mountain to sea and including mountain and sea.

I read "from outer to iner" as from inside to outside and every thing in between.

    Language is tricky.

  5. Of course, if there are other techniques for lowering it i am definitely interested. But this isn't what this thread is about. i more want to know if head pressure is ever a necessary part of any practices, and if it is a sign of blockages clearing or if it is just altogether a negative thing? It doesn't feel very positive, that's for sure. So why the sudden inability to lower?

Do you have to figure out the very last straw that broke the camel's back?

You have head pressure problem. That's bad. I don't know any system that utilizes the headache.

    Kunlun isn't a water method.

Can you do crane neck? How's your spine? Do you do any breathing excercise (qi gong or running)?

  6. uhh, you said "why do I need a rumor to justify my own behavior"

    and they said "you don't"

i think if you read their post a little more carefully you would realize that you two are agreeing....

    Thanks. lolo.

I'm so proud of my reading skills now. NOT. :(

  7. I'm merely saying that there's some people here that think that "enlightenment" or self-mastery or whatever you want to call it cannot be reached if you take drugs.

There are people here who think you can't get enlightened without a "lineage". There are people here who think you can't get enlightened with ejaculation. There are people here who think you can't get enlightened without meditation.

Everyone has some stupid pet peeves, me included. Don't pay attention to it. Or regard it as accentric instead of pig-headed.

And occasionally having fun with drugs? Again, I say where do we draw the line? What about addiction (as this rumour is what is in question) or even dependency

    Again, truth is self evident.

If you're true to yourself, you'll figure it out.

  8. No thanks. I see plenty of my chi when I meditate, during my microcosmic orbit. As master Nan would say, when your chi channels are open, you can see light when your eyes are close.

Is that possible to see light when your eyes are open?

I guess my question have been answered by testmony about seeing light with eyes open in this thread.

  9. I think that not walking the path is a "bigger deal" then walking the path. I believe the natural tendency of a person is to walk the path, and when we did, things were balanced and in a state of perfection. It is that we strayed from the path that is a big deal and has caused all the imbalance that needs to be brought to equilibrium.

From reading the OP Id say that knowing the path is a bigger deal then walking it or being ignorant of it, at least in the mind of the knower. People that know the path tend to make an intellectual mystery out of its simplicity with the purpose of making a big deal out of themselves which results in a tangled mess of not really knowing anything except the details of a mental construct they've fixated on which also places them far from the path wrapped up in the confusing delusions of their own psychosis

Everyone needs to look into mirror more often. :)

Deci Belle wrote an excellent posting to state her real life. I've learned a few things.

  10. I just posted an interesting 30ism min documentary that I found on Wing Chun here: http://thetaobums.com/topic/28748-wing-chun-and-taoism/

For those without such time on their hands, there is a golden part where it is declared that before the martial art can be successful, one must find inner peace.

As rumour has it, Wing Chun "master" (I say this loosely as I don't so much agree with the status in any shape or form) Ip Man was addicted to opium. Yet he must have had inner peace anyway in order to have mastered the martial art.

    Discuss :P

Why do I need a rumor about a druggie "master" who might have "inner peace" to justify my own behavior?

    Truth is self evident.

Why can't you be the master who occanssionally having fun with drugs?

  11. I wonder which direction should I go after I mastered the techniques of the two volumes. What are those practices?

    Thanks for any reply.

Qi Gong is Chinese Alchemy. After familiar with water method, I guess you need fire to melt the ice into water and boil the water to steam. (I don't know much about water method, I may have wrong view about it.)

The only book I know is the Secret of the Golden Flower. I highly recommend it.

The other is Kundalini Tantra by Swami Satyananda Saraswati. It's a treasure box.

  12. I do that on purpose,...because the most ignorant of people, read the messenger, and not the message. A noble person looks at the value of the message in the context it was given, regardless of the messenger.

    I don't know.

Sometimes, the message is the message. Sometimes, the messenger is the message. Sometimes, the combination of the messenger and message is the message.

For example, Osho advacted dynamic meditation while he wrecked his own back by sitting all day. Wasn't that combination a good message?

    Mudfoot, on 10 Jun 2013 - 10:36, said:

Depends on how you interprete "the 13 postures". If they are interpretated as five ways to move (footwork) and eight ways to manifest/manipulate qi, then you need a form to practice these things in.

But yes, doing it like Hsing-I would be easier to learn.

Then "form" would be individual movements, not a sequence.

The term used is still form.

Sorry, but we were talking about two different things here, and I agree with your point.

I'm very interested in the 5 footworks and 8 ways to manipulate Qi. Could anyone provide more informations please? Thanks.

  14. The three in one harmony means that Emptiness is the process of energy creation - we exist in Emptiness and so the impersonal light energy just keeps transforming when it turns back into the personal level.

So the more power a person has the less personal the power is.

According to Heart Sutra. "It never increase nor decrease"

I guess we're describing the same thing. But I prefer it as win-win situation instead of win-lose view.

So in your semantic, I'd say "the more power a person has the more freedom the power is"
