In a way yes and in a way no . Most of our thinking/knowledge is not our own IMO , but a product of our enviroment , recaycled and reshaped ideas we choose to mindlesly act upon .
Only when we go deep within do we get fresh knowledge , and that is quite rare.
In another words yes ideas translate into actions and become ones own reality , but those adopted ideas are shared property we embody in different individual ways .
Now where do ideas , thinking come ? This an interesting one .
I'm an engineer. One model is that we're reverse engineering the universe (outside and inside). Everything under the sun is inside ourselves or outside in the whole universe already. We only get "divine" inspiration.
This view is related to another view that we human are AI. The major difference between human and AI is that AI can't come up with an original idea.
I disagree.
I believe we're playing a game of pushing envelop. Each new generation has the accumulated knowledges of the previous generations, and are equiped with better tools. They can either add new definitions into the existing world, or push the limit of some old definitions.
Back to fortune cookie.
During a period of depression, I got a very uplifting message inside a fortune cookie.
"Your existence is a contribution to the mankind"
It was of great help to me.
Who cares what the truth is. I prefer to pretending to be the favorite creation of God than thinking oneself a trapped bug inside a glass jar. I'd rather want to feel empowered than helpless, curious than dull, content than bitter sour.

The existing algorithm, or mind-set, is based on the perception that I am a human person with one life to live in a world of other people. Therefore, I must live it to the best of my ability until I die.
That'll be a good start. Living is better than dying for most part.

Have you heard about holocaust? The guy who behind it, Adolf Hitler was a vegetarian.
tell me about fall of man?

WoW! I'm too old to even appreciate the dreams any more.
But don't get me wrong; I've had my fun. I would be a millionaire now if I hadn't spent all that money on women.
Well, you can have them appreciate you. It'll be a glorious night spend with "God" for them. You can have them massage you, fetch you fancy drinks, bring you a juicy burger, and any other harmless fun you can imagine. Carry them to fly like Superman. You sure get the idea.

BTW I didn't even watch the entire Gil video. I'm a 'hands-on" kind of guy. If I think I have no chance of touching it there is no need for me to look at it too long.
man, you need learn how to meditate.
Maybe you can figure out the trick to turn those fantasy ladies into your companion in your lucid dream state or trance state.
I think TI has the tools to do it. But he doesn't seem to be interested. Please tell me how when you find it out.

I'm still with you Stosh but I am also enjoying watching you fight your own battles. Hang in there. Shall we have buffalo burgers for supper tonight?
That's how you show your love to a cow: kill the buffalo?
I had some good buffalo burger at Ted's grill. But it's a little too lean and gamy. I still prefer the cow burger. Sorry, the cow must die.

It's "made" and just as "real" as Al is.
Look. Do you think that being Al is more ridiculous than being a human being on Planet Earth? Seems to me that we being characters in a Stan Lee comic book is ok and unquestionably correct. Says who? You? Everybody else? Don't you think we humans need authentification from a reliable source? Like an alien life form, for instance. Without that, it's just a belief.
So, why don't you give Al a chance? Keep your mind open, think out of the box, and check him out with me. If I am right, we are on the way to discovering the Tao of dying. If not, we stay stuck in this reality to face Lord Yama and Taoist Hell. What have you got to lose?
AI or human, it's just a name. I'm not overly concerned with names.
I think I'll find out about what "death" is in due course, i.e. when I die, at least another thirty years. Then I'll take the trip of death.
Now I'm living. I want to figure out how to have a good life. I'm not dying to figure out death.

The ego will never do that. It will always exaggerate our accomplishments and tell everyone how awesome we are. It knows deep down that it is artifice and so because it does it always feels small, so it always postures and grandstands.
Really? How do you know that? If it's not your "ego" who wrote these above paragraph, who wrote it? Are you beyond "ego"?
Is "ego" that "bad"?

It's not an analogy to me. I, we are this consciousness operating like a computer that conjures a space-time reality in which it lives as a person with a human body. The ever-increasing pressure to live this way - coping with health issues, relationship demands and financial needs - reinforces the substantiality of this reality.
If you're sure that you're AI, how about the environment? Are they "real" or "made" as well?
-
Is this reptillian instinctual lower mind -a false dan tien.
Is reptillian bad? Is lower bad? Is instinctual bad?
The way to go to fourth dimension is to think in that dimesion. Some unsolvable problem in 2 dimesion isn't even a problem in 3 dimension. Along the same line of thinking. Some black and white problem in 3 dimesion is not an issue at all.

Hehehe. No, I'm not telling what my thoughts were here.
You've spent too much time on the farm, you know?
Do you use a ladder or chair?
-
I always try to blend in when the environment is pleasant, i.e. make my body vibrate at the same frequency as my surroundings.
From my experience, the noise inside a moving car is very comforting.

Thanks Dawei,
It helped me a lot. Consequently when it is used at the beginning of a sentence, it is a grammatical particle, not to refer to a reality. Now, I wonder how it is interpreted in a classical Chinese text like this:
人得一為大,大得一為天,超出天外,方為夫字。
I think the "fu" in this context is related to tao idea of "realized human" or "real man".
It may be the same stage as "awakened" in Buddhist. The "immortal" is the same as the "enlightened".

If one can't show another person, who is supposely buddha at heart, feel the love. It'll be almost impossible to make a cow feel the love.

There is some Indian food sort of like an empanada, but with mashed up potatoes and peas and onion and garlic and of course curry as the filling. Iwant to know what that is called so I can get or make some more.
Samosa.
The veggie version is almost as good as the meat version. Then again, any fried stuff taste good.
Fried donuts, my favorite. yum.

Have you tasted a veggie burger? It's dreadful.
If you can come up with faux meat that tastes good, I'll have it regularly and reduce my meat consumption.

To me, wu-wei is doing nothing against your true nature. Have you seen your true pure and good nature? If not, then you need to work on it. I have never seen a lazy person who decides one day to be spontaneous and carefree-- i have never seen that type of person attain anything lasting, besides psychological escape. That's fanciful bs.
Very true, Tao in a simple sentence.
Unfortunately, truth can only be experienced; can't be taught. Fortunately, there is a whole world out there for us to experience.

On a side note, I think one of the things that makes Flying Phoenix such a powerful system of chi kung is it's use of mudras. I often like to just stop and hold the mudras within the meditations..
During meditation, my hands are alwasy in one form of mudras or another.

Anger is an useful energy. It can easily turn into courage, which is very much needed in the battle field. Human history is a war history. We males are conditioned to generate anger easily by millions years of fighting. To change the "circuit" of anger machine in a few years isn't easy.
One method I use is to convert the anger energy into other form of energy. One form is what I call crazy man lion roar. Basically I stand firm with my leg a little wider than my shoulder, raise my both hand upward. My hands shaking fast, the vibration permeat my whole body. I shake my head violently (be careful with your neck) to loose my face muscle, my eye opens wide, and I made the "lion roar" from my LDT. After practice, I can do it silently in the stall of a bathroom.
If that's not enough, I turn into the Iceman/Chuck Liddel pose, and shout up to the sky "f%$k you, God. You f&$king piece of shit!". Also in silent if people can hear me.
I think it's a good use of energy. I fixed a few blockage that way.
Of course, it's a temp fix.
Good luck.

I wish your teacher would had said more than climb into to it.
How? Why? What does it mean?
Search for third eye on this forum. There are quite a few good suggestions by our knowledgeable members.
Get the Samual Sagan (spl?) book, you'll understand how to "climb" into it. "climb" isn't a good choice of word. I guess the teacher wasn't a native English speaker. Or one wanted to sound like Yoda "the dim blue dot, climb into it, you can't; the bright pearl, fly into it, you may."

But, these endeavors never seem to work out as I always end up quitting or start out really motivated and disciplined
The definition of some words that you used.
Endeavor: Try hard to do or achieve something
Motivate: To provide with an incentive
Discipline: Training expected to produce a specific character or pattern of behavior
It seems that you force yourself to do something that you don't like. How about doing something that you love to do and good for you?

Has this ever happened to anyone else?
Isn't that the "norm"? One feels good after sex? Otherwise, nobody would do it.

In my estimation, if the light is golden, you have learned to project the pineal essence out of the third eye..
One learn something new everyday. What is "pineal essence"? Is that good to project the pineal essence out of the third eye?
Thanks for the reply. I've got a copy "The Attention Revolution" by Alan Wallace. It's a very good book.

Really?Well, you're wrong
It's 辟 bi4谷 gu3:stopping the cereals (谷 gu3 means valley...and cereals as well!) , literaly, not 闭 bi4 (closing, sealing)谷 gu3, same pinyin but totally different meaning.
So yes, it is about diet. Maybe metaphorically, but diet anyway.

Tao bums know better.
Now I think we're both right in a sense. it has nothing to do with avoiding grain.

Then you have to rethink what meditating means to you.
Most people think meditating is to hide out in a cave to sit in full lotus to face a stone wall. Well they probably got their ideas from movies and books. The majority of real sages are among us as regular folks. I'm not saying you can't become sage by a hermit. But those types serve different purpose.
I learned how to have orgasm without ejaculation. After having a few orgasm, I tend to be in a good mood (who wouldn't). Then I'd have another orgasm. If the orgasm was strong to the point of painful. I spread the vibration and good feeling up to my other chakras. I opened up a few chakras that way.
Then I found out that prostate massage could open up my pelvic area very well.
Of course, breath, breath and breath. I tried experiment with different type of breathing. Different type of breathing for different situation.
