  1. My ultimate goal is to bring Qi Gong into my daily life so I don't need a dedicated time slot for it.

Also I want the Qi Gong practice enhance that particular daily activity, not a burden to add on.

So far, I have good success in running and movie watching.

To incorporate Qi Gong into my movie theatre trip make my experience much better. I love going out to the theatre again.

First, I changed my mind set. I used to think I was "smart". I was proud of myself being able to figure out the ending five minutes into the movie. I tend to point out the holes in the plot and the poor performance of the actors. After a while, most movies become cliche and boring to me.

Then I realized I was a fool. Why did I sabotage my own enjoyment?

Now, I just watch the movie, enjoy the visual and by in sync with what going on the screen. A plot twist would have me say "wow, I didn't see that coming!". While in the old days, I'd come up at least ten books and movies with similar scheme.

Of course, the physical part play a big roles as well. To relax into the environment is easy in the movie theatres.

If I sit far back. I'd gaze into the screen and play with the focus of my two eyes during commercials and trailers. I separate the left eye and right eye vision, such I see two screens side by side. Then I play around to move the two screens together to over lap then move them apart. By the time, the movie starts, I'm in the "zone".

If I sit very up front, I'd let the screem overwhelm me and totally immerse into the scene.

I posted my running method in another thread.

I hope you can share your experiences and tricks in daily life. For example, chewing slowly with closed eyes to savor the food, or imanging the water cleasing your body in the shower.

  2. I think may of you will advise me to send the energy downward instead of letting it rise, but I'm of the buddhist mindset more and am not sure if hoarding the energy would be karmically beneficial to me, it seems like treating the energy as my own possession, which would cause me anxiety like having a fat wallet full of cash.

Well, you seemed to have no problem swallowing various pills to poision your body. Is your body your own possession if you go down this line of thinking?

Just pick up a form of Qi Gong and start doing it already.

  3. What about he or she tells me now that he or she does not even know what he or she wants? Can you see the loop of doom? I had a time where I steered clear off someone who told me that he does not know what he wants, I know the feeling of your last lines...

We all have that moment that we don't know what we want.

Is he in the stage that he cause physically harm to himself directly?

Does he want to enjoy the rest of his time on earth as enjoyable as possible? Or does he want to stay on earth as long as possible? Or does he secretly deny death?

You can only do your part. He has to do his part. Not all kids grow up to be doctors. Not all elderlies die happy.

  4. . But I really want to end her suffering.

Remind me a line "I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it".

How do you know he is suffering?

If you really want to help him, ask him what he wants and help him with what he wants.

If you really want to hellp yourself, figure out what you want yourself and make it happen.

"I can't be happy because there are African kids starving" gets no resonant from me.

"I know what's better for him than himself" will send me running away for I smell holy war.

  5. helpful to notice my own garbage. edited

    Good eyes!

I still want to talk about the girl who told her friends that you were wierd if you don't mind.

The other interpretation is that girl was open minded and a independent thinker. She thought you're strange. But she still invinted you to her house. Open mindedness is good in my book.

I'd assume a PUA won't be bothered by super facial intellect analysis. They have their target set and go for it.

  6. Part of me finds it difficult to wrap my head around the idea of being able to gel with a girl whos not into this stuff. I guess thats a nonsense belief. I keep thinking what about her energy, am I going to drain myself with sex (I am getting pretty powerful) I think thinking what if I get annoyed listening to materialistic conversations or not allowing me to be honest.. I guess here is nonsense to eliminate...challenge ahead

    Wow, a vivid imangination!

First thing first, you need to find a girl that piques your interest and say hello to her with a smile.

  7. Anyway, someone suggested shifting focus, and lying in bed one night, contemplating the days discussions I suddenly 'saw' as clear as day that I have never seen the slightest evidence for this 'alleged self' and there is quite clearly - No self! Never has been, never will be.

I kind of agree on "never has been". I don't know I agree on "never will be".

To be honest, I don't know.

  8. Due to various reasons, I mostly practice at night from 9pm to 12pm. It works well for me. For a beginner, it's easier to calm down my mind during night time. The night sky, the moon and the starts have different effects on me than sun.

My Qi seem to easily become stagnant. If I soak up the sun or work out a sweat during the day, I feel better during my nightly practice.

After two years of night time practice, I think I should do more day time practice as suppliments.

  9. hi 4bsolute,

Backbands -- and lift legs up in succession . I was gonna make a therad on backbands , becouse they are soooo good .

Someone wrote sun salutation -- they are good too and open up the spine really well and fast for people who already practise .

Headstands , handstands , flips or just hanging upsidedown sometimes .

Breath in -- making sure stomach expands nicely , relaxed , feeling like slowly 'drinking' the air .

When lying down on the back putting hands upwards byside of hips , straight legs slightly apart pointing/arching feet straight as possible (like a ballet dancer foot ) , brushing energy down from navel/abdomen area . This is really good excersise .

    Good luck !

    What did you by "backbands"?

  10. Another crutch I use is mirror.

If I can't reach a particular area with Qi, tactile sense or awareness, I gaze at that area via a mirror. I think it's more powerful than gazing at it directly.

If that area isn't too blocked, a few minutes later, I can feel the sensation stiring. After a while, the muscle may start jumping around.

I also do mantra, mostly "OM", to help.

  11. I assume most have seen the news regarding A Jolie... it boggles my mind and the amount of promotion it is getting!!??

Thanks for promoting the news. Now I know A Jolie's breasts are on some bums mind.

I guess Prat isn't a breast man anyway. Besides, the fake ones look better and feel the same.

  12. You're right, grabing under my shin feels better.

Sitting on my butt all day, this is a very good relaxing and streching pose. It's full body work and compact. I can do it without raising suspecion from others. :)

I'm very jealous of one of my muslim colleagues. He put a carpet inside his cubicule and practice all weird postures of Qi Gong. Nobdoy dare to laugh or say anthing about it. We should organize into a religion too. So we can have a 15 minutes QiGong break, 4 times daily as our religious freedom. :)

    Thanks for the pose.

  13.

In the orient I thought it was connected to death, thus we have ni(2nd) dan, san (3rd), but no chi(4th) dan, fourth degree belt is yo dan.

Double checking myself I found this:

The pronunciation of the number 4 is a homophone for the word "death"in Chinese and Japanese (C: 'si' falling tone = 4, 'si' low tone ="death"; J: both are pronounced "shi"), and possibly other languagestoo, and is naturally enough avoided as bad luck. 14 is a homophonefor "it's death" in Chinese (but not Japanese) ('shr si', rising thenfalling tone = 14, 'shr si', falling then low tone = "it's death").

The official language in China is Mandarin, not Cantonese ( a province out of 30).

The majority of Chinese people won't be happy if you continue promoting Cantonese somehow. I don't think all the American people like to be called "Yankee", especially people from south.

  14. So genes set trajectories; they don't bequeath intelligence.

I think you overlooked the obvious. You can't teach a money how to speak. Why? They have different gene. The gene does indeed effect intelligence.

The problem you have is you think there is only one path to be "smart" and only one standard of "smart".

I don't see how the gene theory is in conflict with reincarnation theory, which you seem to think the case.

  15. In Chinese superstition, number 4 means death. What is death in Tao and the teaching of the Dharma? Just another impermanence.

It's only supersition of Cantonese people because their prononciation of 4 is the same as death.

In north part of China, 4 is a good number. In a wedding, either 4 or 8 dishes are served (in the old days). Now it's more likely 16 dishes.

  16. From a reincarnationist perspective, IQ should be largely derived from thinking patterns, the latter of which are developed over multiple lifetimes--not dictated by the genes one is bequeathed with at conception.

Is that possible that "thinking patterns" can be part of "gene" as well?

98% of DNA is consider "junk" and not studied by scentists.

  17. Perhaps.

Imagined cages are something else. They seem so freakin' real!

You've heard the story? A man was put into a prison cell and remained there for ten years. One day, by accident, he tripped onto the cell door and found that it was not locked. Never was. He could have left any time he wanted to.

    Good story.

The story I heard is a man was so afraid of everything, that he barricaded himself inside his own house. Every day he put up more fence, and got online to convince others that they also in cages.

  18. I did my manly-man running yesterday. I felt good.

    Girly-man: I run fast.

Manly-man: I run for fun. To loose my bones. I'm not concerned about speed. I try to block as much space as possible. Instead linear forward, my line is more like zig zag. It's more like swagger around in my hood.

Girly-man: What if you need speed to run away from danger?

Manly-man: I never run away from enemy. There is no need for speed.

Girly-man: What if you need to chase your enemy?

Manly-man: That's what my mouth for. I can do the lion roar. You should meet my buddy John. He can simply say "stop". His enemy would be weekened in their knees and drop to the ground.

After you smoking weed, instead curling up like a girl-man inside your room, you should do manly-man run in your hood.
