  1. Update:

Current contestants: thelerner, zanshin, Daong, Friend and Unlearner.

My transaction ID for this payment is: 4T466978UT419273E from paypal.

I can only pay for one lifetime subsription. there is no way that I can pay for others. The owner of this board is obviously not interested in taking my money :)

    Anyone can help?

  2. Update information.

I've having trouble with Paypal again. I've sent email to the mod team about paying with credit card or personal cheque two weeks ago. They haven't replied yet.

As soon as they accept my subscription fee, I'll anounce the winner.

    Sorry about the delay.

  3. I'm a electrical engineer for about twenty years. I've spent a lot of time in the lab, where are roomful of electronic equipment. I'm sure the electromagnetic reading is over the roof.

Yet I feel like being home. The "noise" of the fan humming is very comforting to me.

I guess it all depends on what you're used to.

  4. I think it's common to have suicide thoughts in the spritual quest. Don't the peaceful lovely budhists insist you kill your own ego. Isn't that suicide?

Didn't Jesus commit passive suicide? He knew that people out there to get him. He walked into his death.

It's better be peaceful dead than sad alive.

I think there are three body inside one person. if one body is out of sync with the rest, suicide thoughts would be put into your head. You can safely "kill" the old "self" while alive. I learned it from the "Secret of the Golden Flower". You need to reset yourself to download new program in another word.

  5. What about squats and deadlifts?

During an eccentric contraction (lengthening contraction), the muscle elongates while under tension due to an opposing force greater than the muscle generates.[4] Rather than working to pull a joint in the direction of the muscle contraction, the muscle acts to decelerate the joint at the end of a movement or otherwise control the repositioning of a load. This can occur involuntarily (e.g., when attempting to move a weight too heavy for the muscle to lift) or voluntarily (e.g., when the muscle is 'smoothing out' a movement). Over the short-term, strength training involving both eccentric and concentric contractions appear to increase muscular strength more than training with concentric contractions alone.[5] However, exercise-induced muscle damage is also greater during lengthening contractions.[6]

It seems that the main point is to resist the force, keep yourself balanced.

Deadlift and squats should be good for body if done with moderate weight and focus on whole body. I don't like dealift because it's a very complicated move. It takes years to do it correctly. And the chance of injury is very high.

Squats is very good. That's why the horse stance!!! ( I have no personal experience with it)

  6. According to TCM, the muscle (fiber) and tendon in a whole body is a SINGLE string (including your eyes and penis) !!!

The length of the tendon is about fixed. The length of muscle can be changed by excercise. The muscle fiber length and distribution of muscle is very important. When a person gets older, the muscle fiber gets shortened, the person is actually shrink.

There are two type of muscle.

Skeletal (voluntary) muscle is further divided into two broad types: slow twitch and fast twitch:

    • Type I, slow twitch, or "red" muscle, is dense with capillaries and is rich in mitochondria and myoglobin, giving the muscle tissue its characteristic red color. It can carry more oxygen and sustain aerobic activity using fats or carbohydrates as fuel.[4] Slow twitch fibers contract for long periods of time but with little force.
    • Type II, fast twitch muscle, has three major subtypes (IIa, IIx, and IIb) that vary in both contractile speed[5] and force generated.[4] Fast twitch fibers contract quickly and powerfully but fatigue very rapidly, sustaining only short, anaerobic bursts of activity before muscle contraction becomes painful. They contribute most to muscle strength and have greater potential for increase in mass. Type IIb is anaerobic, glycolytic, "white" muscle that is least dense in mitochondria and myoglobin. In small animals (e.g., rodents) this is the major fast muscle type, explaining the pale color of their flesh.

The regular bench pressing increase the fast twitch muscle and SHORTEN the muscle fiber. This is very bad according to CTM. The body wants go back to its regular length. The penis stretching is the easiest way.

And the regular bench pressing produces lactic acid.

The presence of lactic acid has an inhibitory effect on ATP generation within the muscle; though not producing fatigue, it can inhibit or even stop performance if the intracellular concentration becomes too high. However, long-term training causes neovascularization within the muscle, increasing the ability to move waste products out of the muscles and maintain contraction. Once moved out of muscles with high concentrations within the sarcomere, lactic acid can be used by other muscles or body tissues as a source of energy, or transported to the liver where it is converted back to pyruvate.

Your chest and arm muscle want to get rid of the lactic acid. The lazy penis wants it as fuel. So natrually one wants to stretch ones penis and ejaculate to get rid of the lactic acid.

If one does regular bench press, masturbation a long time and ejaculation actually help body. One should follow the natrual way.

If one doesn't want the whole package, one should do the reverse bench press. It develop the slow switch muscle which is very good for Qigong. It LENGTHEN the muscle fiber without lactic acid build up.

Use light weight. The important part is not press up. One should lower the weight slowly to resist the gravity. The going down part is the main event.

p.s. fixed error from "CTM" to "TCM" Traditional Chinese Medicine.

  7. Thanks for that.

Relax was a constant refrain from my old Aikido Sensei 'More relaxed, more relaxed'. Then I'd say 'I am relaxed, damnit'. And he'd walk away shaking his head. Only happened the first dozen years or so :)

The Aikido hand excercises are excellent for open the arm meridian channels.

The giving hand and receiving hand should both active equally. Take a breath, hold breath, and both hands push against each other to cause discomfort sensation along (slight pain, pressure) the line at certain part for five count. Then breath out and release the presure gradually. If one does it correctly, the discomfort sensation should turn into something feels better and travel along the line further. If your channel fairly open, the sensation from both hands should meet somewhere in the center line, front, back or top.

Sadly, I didn't learn this from Aikido people.

  8. Our "Truths" are the framework for the belief system we adopt or create to provide context for our observations and experiences, and to allow for rationalizations of our decisions. Those who most adamantly cling to the idea that their "Truths" are the real ones are the most deluded.

As long as they "support" my "truths", I don't see any problem.

  9. I had shoulder blades frozen on my shoulder. It was a big solid mass (mess). The bone, tendon and muscle were bundled together. One can hit my shoulder with a hammer in certain spot, I wouldn't suffer damage or felt the pain.

For about half year, I dedicated most my energy into fixing my shoulders. It was extremely painful. Sometimes, I just wanted to cut my shoulder off.

The weed was the only thing to release the pain.

Disclaimer: I enjoy weed for recreational purpose as well sometimes.

    Born of a Legend

Like many Chinese festivals, the Mid-Autumn Festival originated from a legend. This particular festival celebrates the beautiful yet sad story of Chang E, the Moon Lady. Although there are many versions of this legend, the most common one is as follows:

Long, long ago, 10 suns rose in the sky and they scorched all the crops, leaving people in extreme poverty. A hero named Hou Yi shot down nine of the suns, saving the Earth from the destructive heat.

Heavenly Empress Wangmu rewarded him with a vial of elixir that would make a person immortal and allow life in the Heavens.

Hou Yi’s wife, Chang E, was known for her beauty and kind heart. Out of his deep love for her, Hou Yi gave the elixir to Chang E for safe-keeping until they could share it when he returned from hunting.

An evil man, Peng Meng, spied this through the window. Three days later, when Hou Yi left to hunt, Peng broke in with sword in hand, planning to force Chang E into giving him the elixir.

Chang E quickly put the vial to her mouth and swallowed all its contents. As soon as she had swallowed the elixir, she floated off the ground. She dashed out of the window and flew toward the moon.

When Hou Yi returned home that night, he learned from the maidservants what had happened. Tearfully, he looked up into the night sky and called out the name of his beloved wife.

At that moment, the moon became especially clear and bright. Hou Yi saw a shadow of his wife who was looking down at him, also in grief.

Hou Yi set up an altar with incense in the garden. On the altar, he put the sweet cakes and fresh fruits that Chang E enjoyed most. Then, he held a memorial ceremony for his wife in the moon. It was the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar year.

The news that Chang E had turned into a celestial being and was living in the moon spread fast. Many people arranged altars with incense in the moonlight and prayed for the kind-hearted Chang E, the Moon Lady, to look after them.

I like this version of the Change E. I always feel sad about the seperation of Change E and Hou Yi. I want to unite them somehow. I need your help.

There are many talented writers here. I'd appreciate it if you can put your kind heart into writing a follow up story to unite Change E and Hou Yi.

The above is only one version of the moon lady story. In some version, she's a selfish person who wanted immortality for herself. She was bannished to moon for her "crime". In others, Hou Yi was a jerk who's partying with his friends and flirted with other girls. Change E only wanted to visit her parents in the sky. She didn't know that she couldn't come back to earth anymore. She decided to wait for Hou Yi in moon by herself.

You can pick any version to start. The only request I have is a happy ending.

As incentive, I'd like to sponsor a life time subscription to Tao Bum Broad to the winner, two year subscription to the most authentic story, and one year subscription to the most poetic story.

    The judging rules is simple:

    1. Tao

    2. Authentic (people think it's part of the original story).

    3. Poetic (The poem are highly respected in China old days)

    4. Happy Ending !!!!!!!!! (last not least).

Oct 5, 2013 is the last day for submission.

If you want to use different version of the story, please post the whole story (including link and source for the first portion if you don't want to rewrite that part in your own words.)

I wonder how I can get this writing contest going. How can I let the tao bums to vote?

  11. I basically had to figure out "how to do the opposite" of the heat-sipping method of laogung breathing. But that provided the foundation and basis for it, using a heat source and sipping the heat into the laogung until it felt like there was a membrane moving in the palm when I'd inhale, then after that the heat would noticeably travel up the yin arm channels until it go to the sea point at the elbow, going deeply there it then moved quickly and jumped out the corresponding shu points in the back and the heat spreads along the UB meridian. I think I may have picked up some stuff from reading the Yellow Emperor's classic, some of its descriptions of yangming in there. The centerline expression is almost one of a pause and then the expression just bounces, travels out the yang channels in a similar fashion as the heat spreading along the UB channel when doing the laogung heat sipping. Imagine you have this shiny very light robe on you, and just by...manifesting a "shedding" of it, it energetically happens. So the intent portion is corresponding to the centerline pause of sorts and then like a wave outflowing,...shudders, sheds, tingles its way out. Its tough to describe, but it is a simple technique, just takes a little practice.

cool. still have no idea how to do it.

Meanwhile, I just stick out my tonge and panting like a dog. spread my finger open to fan the cool air into my face. :)

  13. Man, he's a guru.

He managed to stay mighty high for years without drugs. AND he managed to have people sponsor his addiction to his own pleasure worshiping with Kali. AND he managed to stay healthy and wealthy. AND he managed to have people listen to his world like messages from high above.

He did all those without doing anything.

If this doesn't proove the power of meditation, I don't what else can convince you.

  14. Very narrow vision there, my friend. With awareness there is no need for fear.

Wow, you experienced awareness! Would you please tell us what happened?

Are you sure the awareness can survive in this physical world by itself? If so, why did it bother to manifest this physical world?

  15. one example related to the law of seven is how something (such as an aim undertaken by people) starts out well and with good intentions but can end up going downhill, even to the point of opposite results as first envisioned!

I don't see the connection. Can you break it down for me please?

Or maybe I don't understand the law of seven.

The law of three is seen in nature a lot like triangle. How can the law of seven be explained?

  16. you can capture that effect with a camera. you can also wikipedia moonbow.. its not mystical (you know what i mean)

The same way afterimage can exlain explain the effect of candle gazing.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afterimage

Anyway, it's safe to ask what others see around you. Having scentific explaination about everything is good tool too.

    RV

Was what you saw like this in the picture (opposite part of the sky from the moon) or the rainbow was actually "around" the moon?
