  1. Hm, that is mere mythology as content. For me a spiritual game is a game with a basic mechanic of encouraging the spiritual journey. World of Warcraft would be a terribly bad example, being little more than a copy of our society, with a strong accent on warfare.

An anecdote about the Molyneux thing: I played Black&White and wanted to be a fair but strict god, so when the people of the world did something mean to their fellows, I gave them a slap, and suddenly I!, the almighty god, was seen as evil and tyrannical. That was when I lost interest in the game. Way too stupid. But hey... Molyneux probably thought too black-and-white while making the game.

Ah yes, you are speaking along the lines of AI more than physics.

Things like alignments, ratios, factions, and personal nature and how to rationally calculate a fluid transitory balance between them through interactions - definitely an element i would demand for "my" game ;)

  2. obviously we're not talking about the queen, but the gender of this "businessman". ;)

You live in a house with four walls.

    All four walls face south.

    A bear sits out front.

    What color is the bear?

  3. Again, if I am accountable and will be punished, then 'free will' is not a real thing, it is an illusion. Free will with limitation is not free will, it's similar to the lovely Christian view 'God gave you free will.....BUT, if you do this you're going hell...Happy Christmas!'.

Pardon me for butting in, but a glaring flaw in your logic prompted my response:

We have the free will to make choices, not decide the outcomes of our choices, by engaging in and acting on free will, we physically enter into contract that we agree to sustain all outcomes of the choices of our free will, regardless of weather or not we are aware that this physical contract is in effect or the rules of engagement.

We have complete rights to our free will so long as we retain our sovereignty. we are also allowed to give up or abstain from personal sovereignty, thereby giving up our free will to the public at large, or whom so ever might be able to buy/afford/steal y/our time.

And how should we be held accountable for our actions that were, more than likely, based on a childhood we had no control over? Cut off a hand? Stoning? Prison? Death sentence? And how can I, or you, judge such a punishment when we have not lived that life? Is not the American constitution supposedly structured around the concept of 'freedom'? Is freedom by degrees freedom? I would say not.

You have a CHOICE. accept punishment, or fight it. if you are unwilling to fight it, you forsake your sovereignty, and thus your free will to determine an alternate outcome; you have a choice between extremes, give up your lifestyle for your freedom, or accept punishment for your lifestyle.

Don't get me wrong Marbles, I'm not saying I want everyone running around shooting everyone, I'm just toying with the concept of free will, and I find it wanting.

Also, your idea of accountability is very confucian. Nothing wrong in that, but personally I've never really been able to reconcile confucianism with Daoism. Is your goal to uphold society and it's mores, or to be a Daoist? How about if being a Daoist contradicts societies mores.... I won't go as far to say murder... but I mean some other fairly common thing that is simply not acceptable to the society you're living in at the time. What would you do? Which path?

I know there are a lot of questions there Marblehead, I don't expect you to answer them all, they are more for pondering than anything else.

I gotta go to bed, or one particular element of society won't be best pleased with me. :D

The eternal struggle between selfish and selfless effort for either the self or for the community.... it's eternal indeed.

Seek balance to find sovereignty if you so choose to retain your ever-present right to own and operate the gift of free will.

If you engage in the correct physical contracts (read as: rituals) you can learn the true source of authority and decide weather or not you wish to take the responsibility of owning and operating the freedom of choice, or if your choices are preferably the responsibilities of others, and thus the choices thereof.

It is still inevitably your choice. to have or not to have... the gift of free will.

I apologize for intruding in your argument.

    P.S.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FRICKING BUDDHISM.

Buddha taught [us] how to breathe properly; and the functioning intent of meditation. that is it.

To expand the consciousness/awareness/conscious awareness which requires the understanding of the way of the whole is breathing.

    Inhale, hold, relax, exhale.

When the earth breathes in, it nourishes us with rains and fertility.

The earth holds that breath, warming us up and preparing our resources.

When the earth relaxes, she lets go of her breath and with it, our resources-prompting us to harvest and prepare for winter.

When the earth fully exhales, she becomes cooled, and her resources become dormant.

The tao of earth is that we are perpetually engulfed in both night and day simultaneously, one half of the day is summer, the other half of the day is winter.

Buddha only showed us the Tao of meditation and the Tao of breathing... He is not any more or less deity than anyone else nor any more or less messiah than any of us either.

  4. Well, it doesn't necessarily have to be that complex. There already have been games with an environment like that, simply with a lot of NPCs with their own AI. And as an advanced example, just take The Sims.

Double the sims in interactivity capability/potential

then, double THAT as an afterlife version complete with death-as-birth transition between material and energy life...

NOW we have to deal with stupid AI :P you know how all those "sims moments" were? setting yourself on fire by not knowing how to cook.... cereal...

Computers have a long ways to go before they are going to catch up with humanity, let alone able to effectively portray any genuine spirituality, rather than mere mythology.

Throw in atomic particle physics, and then maybe, MAYBE, we'd have the basis for a cyber-world in which my mind could enjoy as a playground.... :P hehe

As for already existing spiritual games, look at RPGs, they fill their stories with a lot of ancient mythological elements.

Tales of Phantasia is a great example of norse mythology presented on a christian palette painted by a japanese hand... hahah! Cultural!

The warcraft series 'borrows' a lot of spiritual influences for their characters and classes. Holy Paladins, naturalistic shamans... not terribly accurate, but the influences are there all the same.

If we want an accurate game to portray general spiritual influences... we've got a lot of doing to manage with our present limitations of technology and market demand.

I would Love to help design a world that is as entertaining as it is educational however, so if anything ever comes of this, i hope i will catch wind and be able to lend a hand!

  5. Free Will? Do we hve it? I don't know... I think that is a CHOICE.

I am a practitioner, follower, educator, and upholder of the "Law of Free Will", which is plainly and simply to respect the consenting will and/or willful consent of all individuals, lest you forsake any potentially inherent rights thereof to free will.

    To reiterate:

That which you do unto others, you physically speak into effect as condoned treatment upon your own person.

    I shall reiterate again:

That which i have done to you, i forsake any right to disallow you to inflict upon me.

The law of free will protects all individuals who give consent to protect and respect the free will of others.

Those who follow the law of free will earn the protection of free will by protecting the free wills of others who also follow the law of free will.

The law of free will is exempt to no one, exclusive to all but willing participants, cannot be enforced upon any unwilling individual, and is universally binding to all individuals who wish to own and operate any level of free will.

  6. sugar exists in all things your body breaks down to digest. even in dried meats, there exist trace amounts of sugars.

Elimination of elements from your diet is irrational. find balance.

  7. To america i say goodbye. Let the homeless revolution take place. no longer do we pay tribute to our kings, for we are our own kings. no longer do we sign over our time and lives to corporate contracts, for our time and lives belong to our selves!

Let the bum revolution take the place of the monarchs of economics, the corporate kings and queens to be beheaded, congress to be tried for treason.

WE the PEOPLE of the WORLD are SOVEREIGN IN THE EYES OF GOD and NO AUTHORITY EXISTS to deprive u of that without our prior consent.

Let us WALK this path now, and not just speak it.

I cannot make change alone, but i will continue to walk this path in example of the change that could be made.

  8. Well thanks for the links and whatnot! has been an interesting read so far. Cant say I'm terribly agreeable with a few smaller semantics, but the general eye opening recommendations and think for yourself ways of living are definitely all there.

It's great to see someone pointing out the seemingly obvious yet so clearly ignored mass of general lack of common sense and personal responsibility.

We can only hope more eyes open to see what we have done to ourselves.

  9. Looks very specialized. Like they say: "game-style interactive environment". My game idea is based on simulated world environment, where many things happen even without player interaction.

Sounds much like an idea for MMORPG style game idea i had/have, that pertains more to the perpetual continuity of the spirit, the player is not the character, but the character's spirit and experiences many differnt lives and lifestyles, with no real objective than to play and experience anew.

Problem is the sheer amount of physics involved, we cant quite program that much GAME on even modern super computers.

  10. I am an absolute Lover of Music, of Sound.

While i am rarely ever fond of lyric or song, i always listen for the music behind it/them.

I judge a singer by his or her ability to harmonize with the music, and care not for their words, for words seek primarily to confuse and control.

My favorite brand of musics are classical, instrumental, and my favorite, and as i believe most powerful, Video Game music.

The only thing that i have met that is more powerful than game music (more so the old school stuff, since today there is more "popular" stuff implemented) is Bjork. Her music is PURE UNTAPPED POWER.

I will share what i am listening to most these weeks n_n

    Two albums for free download, Donkey Kong Country remixes;

    Kong in Concert

    &

    Serious Monkey Business.

And my favorite songs so far:

    More powerful:

    More entertaining:

  11. Right, here's a safe place to extrapolate thoughts, interpolate in the best of ways and even contemplate right out loud...you do any haiku?

Sometimes a Haiku can really make you think hard, but they are not me.

I speak as plainly as i know how, from the heart. That is who I am.

However, in the levity of the moment, these are all Haiku.

;D Peace and Harmony be with all.

  12. Why thank you. I hope to enjoy my time spent! I'll be looking for new insights and inspirations, trying to meet new friends and sharing my own philosophical extrapolations of my thoughts and experiences.

Peace to you as well. :)

  13. Hello all! My name is Jonathon David, and a good pal of mine directed me to this forum recently, and i finally got around to registering.

It's good to be here. REALLY seems like my kind of crowd!

A little about me: I am 24, generally high energy and activity, once i get going, but otherwise a hypocritical, lazy, procrastinator. ;D

However, many things in my life have been changing rapidly as of last summer, which i spent on the streets, learning the real ropes of life.

Reality has never before been so stark and real to me, as if i had just woken from a dream.

In my time on the streets, i learned more about myself in 3 short months than the collective 24 years prior!

While struggling to get by and acquire hand outs from the rare but ever so appreciated generosity, i declared myself a sovereign in the eyes of god, and further declared that i will continually uphold the will of the infinite whole of god's will, so long as i am a free and sovereign individual human being.

Since making this declaration, life has become increasingly obstructed and uneasy, difficult to push forward or often to even see ahead of myself.

But i refuse to give (it) up, for without freedom, without sovereignty, i might as well occupy a hole in the ground and push up some daisies.

I might not have a whole lot of personal power over my own life at this time, but i am earning it more and more every day.

My name is Jonathon David, and i am a Free and Sovereign Human Being, just being Human.
