  1. If I wasn't interested in Twinner or Twinner's views then I would not have used my energy to post on this thread. Great thread this is and it would be cool if you did start a seperate collective conscious/unconscious thread.

A few minor things that don't really matter but brought up in a friendly way , striving for consistency.

"winning an argument" This flew way over my head. There is no winning or losing. It is an exchange and sharing of ideas. We all learn from each other.

"I didn't expect the topic to go in this direction" Such is the way of serendipity and/or synchronicity. Very cool topic :) I have learned with each new post. In fact I didn't expect the topic to go in this direction either  but I am glad it did.

"but rather this discussion is very much like water" ( :) Taoist like. )

Those who cannot put their thoughts on ice should not enter into the heat of the discussion. When water warms to a certain level it is said to SUBLIME. pun intended.

Iron sharpens iron. We aim above the mark to find the mark. MH , is that how they did it in the army?

Extreme positions are not succeeded by moderate ones, but by contrary extreme positions.

All things are subject to interpretation. whichever interpretation prevails at a given time is usually a function of power and not truth.

Now, to get back up to speed on this topic.

When one runs into a wall, look for a window or a door OR a GATE.

You must have chaos within you to give birth to a dancing star. :D

Careful where you cast your eggs , eggs are easily broken.

The modern science paradigm is shifting hard now, largely due to the influence of Geometry. We are in transition to a post modern science or a "more modern science" I think JoeBlast stated.

"I do not intend to change" (not taoist like :( )

  2. Twinner may have come up with this metaphor independantly but it has been tried before.

Seeking to intellectualize "What is Tao?" is not rational.

It is not the natural universe as a whole nor is it the way of nature as a whole.

It is not even the underlying law of the universe from which all other principles &

phenomena proceed. If it was any of these things/concepts it would have been explained as such. Since it has not been explained as such after thousands of years of thought then maybe it really is unnamable, unfathomable, and inexhaustable.

I do like the conscious/unsconcious collective concept IMO it does exist but it is not the Tao. It is not the 10th or 11th dimension. It is not the String Theory either.

It is not the basic eternal principle of the universe that transcends reality and is the source of being, non being, and change.

So, it not being any of these, as they have been rejected as a definition of What is Tao?

Forward and backward, abyss on top of abyss, on top of abyss.

In danger like this, pause first and wait.

Otherwise you will fall into a pit in the abyss.

Do not act in this way.

Tao is GLIMPSED only through its effects.

Over in Oxford there is another question that comes up from time to time......

The classical question "What caused God?"(I am not asking any Buddhist to attempt to answer this here) My point is , there are questions that make their rounds and do cause a certain amount of thought. Question all things as Twinner has said. Do not always expect to find the answer.

If you find a warm fuzzy place where you think you know the answer to "What is Tao?"

Great! by all means have a cookie.

  3. Hello Everything,

Well I guess my question is why did you even examine Taoism if Christianity and Islam were beneficial? My point, you see, is that there's nothing wrong with questioning what someone else has said. The Tao Teh Ching was written by a man or as most believe, a group of men. Men are fallible. I understand that you have faith, but I also see a great deal of superstition. Let me first point out that the Tao does not punish anyone, great calamities do not befall those who might try to uncover the mystery or mysteries. Wisdom is not understanding that your consciousness is new every second that we exist, but rather that there is a new potential in every second that we exist. I am as connected to the Tao today as I was the day I was born, the difference is that in experiencing the Tao, I can once more understand the nature of existence.

    Aaron

edit- I also hold this idea of examination to all religious texts. We owe it to ourselves to examine what others have said and not to allow faith to blind us.

So, you are a Religious Taoist? Do you view Religion and Spiritual as 2 different things?

Of course we should question all things. IMO the Ancient Sages were far superior to modern man. If they did not define Tao, it will be remarkable if we do. I think we need to further examine what the Ancient Sages said and look for the clues there.

If someone did benefit from Christianity or Islam or any other religion, science, or philosophy why would they limit themself to that and not also seek out the wisdom from TTC. I am starting to agree with Everything in that you are putting limits on your view.

Just because we have advanced in a linear timeline 2000 some odd years does not neccessarily make us smarter, more observant,wiser,...

Just because "most believe" something does not make it the truth either.

  4. Well, I just saved one lizard from sure death. Does that count?

    B) It's a start. I am sure the lizard appreciated it. Kindness is kindess.

Good to get the random act of kindness in early in the day. That way you will feel a sense of accomplishment all day long.

  5. I was referred to it by ZerosTao (who is a student of Sifu Matsuo and teaches some of Matsuo's material). DGS has an online store and also sells on ebay, but the dvd was not there so I contacted via e-mail and got it that way.

His dvd's cost more than most, often $88 or $108, but the material is excellent, way worth it. Of what I've seen so far - I only have the one dvd and have seen a number of clips on his youtube channel ... All very impressive.

I'm not a bagua practioner, so most of the Heart of Bagua dvd isn't for me - but some of the basic general exercises, really good. And, if a person were into bagua, looks like really excellent instruction (not that I'm qualified to assess bagua).

I just really like this guy. Good heart. Movement shows development. Clear explanations. Pure vibe.

Empath Training Manual 2011 is due out soon from Matsuo. Also if anyone is interested in Shamanism ,you may want to take a look at Dragon Gate Sanctuary.

  6. Supermoon came and went .

I enjoyed this thread very much. The thread was posted a few hours before the eathquake/tsunami.

So the world is different now.

Can we each become the change that we wish to see in this world?

If not us, then who? If not now, then when?

These seem like worn out lines that always go unanswered?

I would challenge each bum to do one random act of kindness Today.

Is that too much to ask?

  7. One thing you should know about me, is that I don't care about the truth. All I care about is what a person believes. I see alot of truth and good things in all religions, but the reason why I hold on to TTC is because the believes that lie within these texts seem to be most beneficial to us and most constructive. When you understand the nature of your consciousness, you know that you are a new person every single moment, you are a new consciousness every single moment. Putting an identity on yourself or things outside yourself trough words, trough ideas or thoughts is limitting towards yourself and others. If you don't believe or want to believe in the Tao, there is no problem with that. But there is a problem when you shed your light and do harm towards yourself. When you try to diminish the Tao to words and try to speak of it. I believe this brings nothing but destructive events upon you and others. I simply hold on to the idea of Tao being unknowable, because thats the believe I choose to believe. And I have believed islam, christianity, science aswell. They were also beneficial in my life, ofcourse. But the Tao gives me wisdom, and little knowledge. Thats what I love about it. Something I can go out and live my life with.

So it is your choice if you want to be suspicious about Tao or simply forget the Tao alltogether. I suggest you do the last, since you can then move on. Don't you think so?

I like this. Wisdom and knowledge are 2 different things. I also like your stance about truth. Truth is always so elusive. As elusive as trying to define Tao.

  8. With this idea of collected conscious, or collective unconscious, or even if we call it cosmic conciousness, My question to this thread is>>

We are considering this consciouness to be sentient in it's whole?or no?

  9. that's why I love my canon g7 - nice and compact but has almost all the advanced features of an SLR so you can tune up the exposure perfectly - if you expose the moon well, everything else more than likely isnt going to be exposed well

We can expect to see some SuperMoon pics on the Cool Pic Thread? :)

  10. riiiight, so if you dont believe it then its not true? disregard empirical results?

To bring up Thomas Kuhn again as he is the fashionable example here. "It cannot be expected that 2 different scientists will make the same observations viewing the same empirical data/methods.

Even if there were agreed on methods of inference and interpretation , scientists will still most likely disagree on the findings."

Empirical results cannot be viewed as scientifically sound evidence.

I could bring forth scientist after scientist that would agree to this. The real heavy weight scientists whose names we all recognize.

So i wouldn't totally disregard empirical results but I certainly wouldn't put too much stock in it either.

  11. why did you say this!?

I just spilled my coffee everywhere..

Jenny Lamb included that in her video?

Oh, Isee! you saying the magnetite charges up from spiraling the eyes -hitting the periphery of the retina opposite to it's usual rotation. Mayeb like in muscle tissue there are unused layers or channels that resist within a certain frequency less used.

Would make sense about the aperture of the pupils widening to allow more light hitting those areas and coincide with effects of seeing infrared after a few days in darkness retreat

when the mind and intent spell 1 as manifestation the 3 and 6 become 10

clockwise and counter-clockwise rotations? equal number each way?

  12. "" In his most important book, BEELZEBUB'S TALE TO HIS GRANDSON, Gurdjieff talks about an organ that was implanted into humanity called the "organ kundabuffer". It was planted by two archangels in response to galactic catastrophe which affected the solar system which includes the planet Earth. The organ was temporarily implanted into humankind in order to minimize the sorrow of adapting to the stabilization period where the two moons, Luna and Anulios, would return to a balanced orbit around the Earth. Gurdjieff did believe that the Earth did have and still has two moons. Contrary to some esoteric views which assert that modern science has not verified the truth of two moons or assert that Gurdjieff was wrong about their being two moons, modern science has verified the truth what Gurdjieff taught. It is merely that Anulios, which Gurdjieff said was very small, is classified as a very large asteroid instead of a moon. It may be that this asteroid/moon could be, in the future, a place where a space colony may be able to use.

According to the story, the two archangels later removed the organ after the cosmic catastrophe was neutralized. However, the organ, having been implanted and removed, had side effects. One was that humans would periodically war against each other, exploit each other, and kill each other. Two was that they tended to see everything upside down, mistaking transitory events for eternal conditions, and tended to be addicted to and conditioned by things that gave them sensory pleasure. Three was that humans attached too much weight to verbal communicated thoughts and not enough weight to what could be and needs to be verified in human experience. It seems that this organ remained in the human body as a kind of virtual vestigial organ. It seems related to a series of habits that prevent human beings from correctly seeing their life condition and doing something about it. What is interesting is that there is a mention of a decrease in life span associated with the progressive degeneration of the human species as a result of this organ, that ordinary human beings were meant to live for at least centuries rather than their very short present lifespans. What is interesting in this regard is that John Bennett took the time to find some of the teachers of Gurdjieff and found them to be about 500 years old. This particular point fits Amritayana Buddhism concerning how aging and death are not necessary. At the same time, it explains many factors which have arisen which explains why humans do age and die.

When certain advanced beings ask Beelzebub what could be done about the residual remains of the organ and how these remains are still infecting human consciousness, he shares that he felt that another organ should be implanted into humanity that would make humans aware of their own impending death and the death of everyone around them. This is something that Buddha taught people to do as well as other esoteric traditions. The Cisternian Christian monks would take a spoonful of dirt from their own grave site every morning to remind them of transitoriness. My link

  13. @zerostao, Does walking in circles contribute to talking in circles?

Sometimes I find it hard to follow exactly what you are trying to say.

Blasto did suggest that Kuhn does seek to transcend the paradigm.

Regardless of physics or metaphysics, preaching is probably not the best way to try and convey the message.

Obviously science is not Absolute. It does seem the more reasonable approach.

  14. Thanks Steve, I am not well read either. :) It would seem that the tian-ren-di would have correlation to shen-qi-jing and the unification of shen-qi-jing. I think the concept can be applied much more broadly than this and in other ways as well.

I think zerostao was giving you a few clues.
