  1. World View - What is basic Human Nature?

I would suggest we leave 'basic' and 'nature out' of the equation because the three words (basic, human, nature) really don't fit together very strongly anyway. What's left is our humanity, which is waiting to be used.
  2. East-West mind difference

It seems to me this is a very good example of what the Sufi's mean when they say that any teaching has to be adapted to the time, the place, and the people. Personally, I see us as spiritual beings with a big mind, on a physical journey. So there needs to be a balance between body, mind, and spirit.
  3. Agreed. Also, I would add 'arrogance' to the list. People who do not know or understand but pretend to have answers based on faulty assumptions, ignorance, and misinformation. As to 'healing powers' we all have them, they are built in. At the physical level, our lymph/immune system removes rogue cells from our bodies every day, 24/7. This happens automatically without us having to think about it at all. The word 'power' is a problem because it triggers our experiences of being powerless and not knowing what's going on with our body, mind, and spirit. There is a high level of physical intelligence built-in to the human organism. Mostly, our minds are completely ignorant of this reality because the mind wants to claim it's dominance over our lives and our physical presence on this planet.

  5. Time for a break

    Welcome back to nut-job central!
  6. Tony Parsons Interview

Yeah, he was like a giant Sun in the room when he wasn't deliberately dimming the light. Also, there were many things he talked about where I didn't have a clue what he meant at the time. I could understand it intellectually but not at a deeper level. Later after I had certain life experiences, the wordless understanding came to me as a series of sudden realizations. This is probably why I relate to Tony's experiences and his 'teaching' if you want to call it that.
  7. Tony Parsons Interview

My teacher was able to share the experience of being in emptiness with total illumination quite easily. It's not really about words at all, it's about presence. All you had to do was sit with him in the same room and there it was. We don't get to the experience through words. And mind you, this was from a man that LOVED to talk and tell stories. I don't know Tony but I enjoyed the video. I am not Buddhist either, but I could be!
  8. If you are interested in clearing the energetic weaknesses around the COLD and FREEZING, feel free to PM me. I'd also be happy to strengthen you to the weaknesses here in the forum. It is not a genetic weakness, the first weakness is coming from the spirit, not the body.
  9. The Kali Yuga ending

Not smoking or drinking, Seth. What he says is the influence of the Kali Yuga itself is what caused their calculations to be off.
  10. No holiness

Well, that is the rub, isn't it? Because one could easily make the statement that there is nothing but holiness or wholeness. So to say that we are 'disconnected' or 'unholy' would refer to our state of mind and not the reality of Life. Without the action of mind, there would be no talk of holy or unholy, instead things would just be.
  11. No holiness

What if we consider 'holiness' to mean 'connected to the source' or connected to the whole? Then there is no judgment about what is holy and what isn't. Unholy would simply mean that there is a lack of connection to the source, not connected to the whole. This would be a new definition of holiness that is not predicated upon judgment and misinformation as a result of religious thinking and dogma.
  12. The Kali Yuga ending

And then there is this: http://www.scribd.com/doc/35297919/Sri-Yukteswar-The-Holy-Science Bottom line, he says the Vedic astrologers were off in in their calculations due to 'being under the influence.' According to Yukteswar, the Kali Yuga has already ended.
  13. I agree about getting an exam from a medical professional first. Next I would suggest you address the non-physical sources of your pain. So often we assume our pain is purely physical, when instead it comes from the mind or the spirit. Really, what we need to resolve our pain is the correct information. I know from experience that wrong answers make our pain worse. Healing happens when [we] resolve our weaknesses by receiving the correction information. If you would like more information about the energetic sources of your pain, feel free to PM me.
  14. I need some advice fellow bottoms.

Shades of the Young Ones! There's nothing quite like British humor.
  15. This is why the Sufis point out that the teaching has to be tailored to the time, the place, and the people. So much great advice in this thread, thanks for not not getting involved!
  16. Thanks for posting this again, Mark. I passed this along to my mother who has trouble falling asleep when she wakes up in the middle of the night. This definitely seems to reduce the effect of our mind (and spirit) on the body, more or less grounding us on the spot.
  17. Pain

Not knowing what to do about the pain and receiving wrong answers about the pain makes the pain worse. In other words, struggling with our pain makes it harder to resolve. We struggle when we don't connect to answers. I can say this with certainty because I've been through the pain. This kind of pain does increase our suffering. When we increase our suffering, we also increase our necessity. This does not mean the pain is useful on it's own as a life lesson. It's more like a side-effect of having the pain. Being pain free is a useful objective. This is why I learned Yuen Method and Reiki, so I could address the source of my own pain and not just 'put up with it," get cut by a surgeon, or receive more wrong answers from people who have no answers. For anyone who suffers from chronic pain, there are answers to the cause of our pain. To say that doctors are the real experts on resolving pain for everyone is just so upside down and completely untruthful.
  18. Question on karma

The wordless awareness that is the source of our insight and spontaneity. You can have that awareness without any thinking. I can say this with certainty: I am not what I think I am.
  19. Question on karma

Thanks, deci, that entire post was spot on.
  20. Question on karma

Chris, in my experience this is not true. Karma affects us whether we believe in it or not. When you find an energetic weakness and you get to the feeling of that weakness, you do so in place that exists beyond the conceptual mind. You are 'seeing' with your insight that thread of energy tied to some event or series of events that created the weakness for the person(s) or situation. Aside from the abuse (that was definitely a weakness you corrected), there seems to be no end to the criticism and judgement. And if that's the case, then Sin would ask himself "Why does this bother me so much?" In my experience, anything that bothers us means we experienced it before by 1. doing the same to others 2. other people doing to each other 3. doing it to ourselves. Using this method (Yuen Method) you would also look at influences from the ancestors, descendants, spirits, multiple personalities, and collective humanity. So around judgement and criticism it would be Sin's experiences of judging and criticizing others, judging and criticizing himself, and his ancestors experiences of judging and criticizing others. Finally, I would never recommend to anyone that they simply put up with their pain. If you have pain, find out where it comes from and delete it. Deci mentioned using the pain, to see through it. Well, that would mean connecting to your insight for the answer. Insight is like shining a light in the dark, when the weaknesses becomes illuminated, the pain goes away and we return to a more balanced and neutral place.
  21. Reiki

Since the topic is Reiki, has anyone here had any actual training in Reiki? I have had training from two different teachers, including the Master-Teacher training. I've received Reiki from about about a dozen different people and the experience was not all equal. Some practitioners seem to move more energy than others. I do use Reiki, but mostly rely on the Chinese Energetics (Yuen Method) because I find it generally gets results very quickly.
  22. Is friendship a trap?

So what you are really saying is assumptions and expectations around what friendship means is a trap. I agree with this. What is a real friend, anyway? It could be a total stranger who is at the right place, at the right time, providing just what is needed for that given situation. Instead of yearning for friends, why not try to be a friend to someone in need?
  23. Can't get over my EX

You have both direct and indirect karma with your ex-girlfiend (both from the present and from other time and space). The only reason you even dated was to resolve that karma. None of the things you mentioned will help resolve it because they don't address the real causes. It's really more of a spiritual problem, not psychological. Although, the spirit can weaken the mind and create the appearance of a psychological problem while the root lies elsewhere. People suffer enough as it is, there's no need to wallow in pain. Knowledge without compassion can lead to cruelty. You keep 'taking it' because you 'dished it out' once in a big away. PM me if you want some specific corrections for the karma with her and your spiritual experiences around trauma.
  24. Help the New Guy

Also, be careful doing Yoga without a teacher. It's really easy to injure yourself or overdo it. What's important is learning how to relax into a pose and not use effort or force. You want to coordinate breathing, movement, and awareness. Never try to 'push' your way into a pose. If you want 'inexpensive' you can go to your local library and check out a good book. Combine some simple sitting and standing poses (cat, dog, lunges, sun salutes, warrior and triangle poses, etc). If you are a beginner, use props they help a lot. For example, if you can't sit in half lotus, you can roll up a blanket and put it under your rear to give your sits bones some elevation. I bought several DVDs on T'ai Chi and never used them. You really do need a teacher to correct the errors in posture/form. I can't tell you how many guys have shown up to our class who learned T'ai Chi incorrectly and have to re-learn the correct form. Another big thumbs up for the Feng/English translation of the Tao Te Ching.
  25. You could start by deleting all your 'burdening' and 'craving' experiences. Pursuing states of mind is just more clinging and attachment, which leads to more of the same.
