  1. Kechari Mudra

Khechari means khaM+chari; kham denotes space and chari is to move. When the self or consciousness moves or resides in the space, that state is called Khechari. In Advaita, the Brahman or the Supreme is not 'nothingness' or 'Shunya' as in Buddhism. Brahman in Sat - Eternal Existence, Chit - Consciousness and Ananda - Limitless bliss. The 'space' here is a not devoid of consciousness and the mudra that alleviates one to this state is Khechari. Some practice this mudra for achieving powers such as levitation, moving objects at will etc. But Indian masters strictly dissuade such practices which do not serve the purpose of enlightenment. Siddhis or powers are described clearly as entrapments and those who fall into the realm of these move away from enlightenment. Also, real masters are said to never display their powers except for lokasangraha - to protect the meek or help the needy. Neither are Siddhis marks of realization for Ramana displayed no Siddhis whatsoever, at least willingly :-) There are three ways to achieve this state: one through a particular mantra, one through a finger mudrA and the last is the royal path where the tongue is turned back as described by Immortal. Again, depending on the stages, you have the beginner or semi [laghu], half or ardha and full or purna khecharis. In the full form, the frenum is severed and tongue goes behind the uvula blocking the passage. This is the qualification for undertaking the third Kriya which can lead to Samadhi. Yogis spend 8 to 12 years mastering techniques such as dohana, chedana etc. [buttering the tongue, massaging it, pulling it, and slowly severing the frenum by few centimeters]. But in Kriya, Talavya Kriya, practiced over a long time, automatically severs the frenum. Like Lahiri Baba says, 'A Yogi should return to the pose of Khechari, always like the child returning to the lap of the mother to find repose'. Even the basic form of Khechari is very useful as it connects the two energy channels. But the original purpose of Khechari is to station the consciousness in space. I am close to it and should be able to get my tongue behind in the next months, i.e. if all goes well :-) My Guru achieved Khechari at the age of 19 and stayed in it for 18 hours everyday for 16 years.
  2. Brainwave entrainment for Kunlun

Any one tried Centerpointe CDs any time? Would like to know the experiences.
  3. Is KunLun Bogus?

I hope what you mean, again, is that what Max teaches in these seminars, are what he thinks are the highest among the various techniques he knows. That would sound more reasonable and less imposing.
  4. Is KunLun Bogus?

Yeah hope that happens soon!!!!! Probably the solution is having a Kunlun forum soon and a specific thread there where a set goes on shouting against Kunlun without actually knowing anything about it and another set can continue to defend the same which is quite unnecessary if the practice can speak for itself.
  5. Is this a Kunlun Forum ?

This forum seems to be focusing on Kunlun alone - people speaking for/against it - neither making much sense. There have not been much of other stuff discussed here of late. Too much of sensationalism, too much of unnecessary criticism.... Should we keep discussing Kunlun? At this rate? Or we restrict Kunlun to a single thread?
  6. Pillars of Bliss

Do Max/Mantra state this somewhere? I don't seem to have read this anywhere from either. Of course, they say it is 'different' from most other systems or something to that effect, which many other systems also say. But this is quite acceptable because two systems are different only because there are some differences. But if there is even a hint of other practices being inferior to Kunlun, that would be sending out grossly bad signals to the universe and universe will probably not respond well to that.

  8. Pillars of Bliss

Oh ya! My arm hurt big time as well, still does sometimes, but it is way better now. For the first few days after starting the practice, bouncing and a surge-like feeling occurred right away. There was an aching arm even then but these sensations probably diverted unnecessary attention from the pain. And then, these 'sensational' experiences began to reduce and nothing seemed to happen - no bliss, no bouncing, no itching, nothing. I would hold the position for about 10 minutes, then start spiraling and still nothing. I would get impatient waiting for something to happen and nothing seemed to happen. Going by the 'let go' advice, I actually listened to my body and 'let go' of the practice, stopped Kunlun and my arms felt better. But then joeblast was the savior. Following his suggestion, I started with the closing position, and held the ball position after some shaking was established. I sat before TV while doing this and that seemed to greatly help in diverting my attention from the aching arm, the impatience and stuff. Now slowly the shaking returned. One night, after Kunlun, I went to bed and the entire night my legs would not stop shaking. I am doing one session of Kunlun every day - sometimes there is shaking, sometimes there is none, there has been no bliss but I still do it and try to be 'mindful' which is my primary practice, and that seems to have improved with Kunlun. May be there is no bliss or any related feelings as I still have not really 'let go'. I will continue the practice for two more months and see how it goes.

  10. Some questions on Falun Gong

A friend heard about Falun Gong and started practicing based on the material available at falunda.org. She has been doing it for a while now, has experienced clear health benefits but has now heard of some warnings against the system. I have not heard/read/practiced this form myself. I read through some old posts on this forum and elsewhere and the opinions are rather mixed. Though it is true to go with the 'try it and if it feels right go with it' attitude oft prescribed :-) I was wondering if this practice can cause irreparable harm in the process. I request any one practicing this form or have heard about it to throw more light. - Most issue people seem to have with this form is more so with cult behavior, philosophy etc. But as this can be studied online, one can probably avoid the unneeded stuff. So, minus the cult stuff, is the actual practice beneficial? - There were some who thought that the method was too powerful and could harm an unprepared novice. Some felt that the practice was an incoherent mixup of three different systems of Qigong. - Another issue that seems to be associated with this practice is its exclusivity. Other practices are strictly prohibited. Has someone evaluated the technique alone? Any input is greatly appreciated.
  11. Kunlun Visualization

Perfect actually! I just turn on the TV and watch my favorite show and it works fantastic. I had my arm hurting, a sense of desperation waiting for 'something to happen' and stuff resulting in nothing happening. Now I just turn on TV, sit in the closing position [thanks Joeblast for that wonderful tip], and let go. Once my legs start vibrating, I take to the ball position, just watching TV and smiling [yeah, its generally a sitcom with silly stuff :-) ] and then lots of good things start happening. However, when I do the closing position again, I turn off the TV, sit totally quiet and enjoy the stillness.

I am not sure from when this concept of Kundalini being 'fiery' in nature came into light. Kundalini is neither fire nor water. It is described as the inherent energy in every being that can be described as the 'soul energy' or the 'individual soul' and associating her with one single form of energy would be totally wrong. The six chakras are divided into three regions starting with the basal Chakra called Muladhara. The first two represent the region of fire or region of darkness, the next two represent the solar sphere or the region of alternating darkness and light and the next two represent the lunar region or the region of light. The seventh Chakra or Sahasrara is the region of total silence, described as being 'inherently' bright but not 'lit' by external sources like the lower chakras. The fiery sensations produced by Kundalini are merely reactions of her traversing the lower two Chakras, Muladhara and Swadhishthana. The masters have compared her to 'fire' in the sense of her destroying Karmas that bind one to lower levels of concsiousness, to 'light' in the sense of her showing the 'truth of self' and as 'lightening' in the context of those who, on receiving a Shaktipat after right preparation, have Kundalini risen to some Chakra above the heart chakra in an instant. The sensations necessarily are not her attributes but rather the attributes of the Chakras through which she moves. As most have blockages in the lower chakras, it may be common to hear of 'fiery' sensations. When crossing the brow Chakra, she is also described as being cool like the nectarine rays of the full moon. Also, she is described as a sleeping serpent in Muladhara. When a lot of Yogic heat is generated by practice of Pranayama, Mudras, Bandhas [together called Kriya], she wakes up due to the heat and starts ascending. That is one method of awakening her called Hatha Yoga [Hatha means being stubborn, yoga means communion, being stubborn to achieve the communion]. Now this being the popular approach could be another reason why people end up associating her with 'fire'. Though Hatha Yoga practice is rather popular in the West, traditional Hindu masters never taught or recommended it as a 'great' technique of enlightenment. And recommended practice during warmer months has nothing to do with Kundalini per say. Kundalini can be awakened by thought, fire, air or water methods. These are just different methods and experiences resulting are more based on the path that Kundalini herself as she is just pure energy. Practice during warm months is chiefly for the 'air'+'fire' method described above involving pranayama or breath control. Warmer air is easier to handle than colder air as colder prana is supposed to make a Yogi lethargic.

Mantis, The same is also true with teachings of great masters like Swami Shivananda, Vimalananda and others. Tantra is not a compilation of teachings but instead revealed word in the form of 64 'Tantras' which were revealed. And Swami Satyananda Saraswati's teachings are based directly on Tantra. Your argument seems pretty lame. Please explain why you think you are right, or if you think anything at all!

  20. Kunlun Level 1

I think someone already mentioned similar about transmission but I had a good experience last night. My Kunlun is getting better - I clearly feel the energy, vibrating energy, even though none of the sensational thumping is happening yet. Also, I am extremely aware during my mantra recitation and every chant seems to resonate in my body. Yesterday night my hands ached really bad and after about 20 minutes, I gave up and did the closing. And night, I had a dream [yes, could also be due to thinking a lot about Dorje] in which I received a transmission from Dorje. I don't know what he did but I could see a pole of light along my spine and I woke up at around 4 am sweating profusely. I tried Kunlun this morning and in around 5 minutes, the heat was so intense that I was totally wet. There was still no thumping but I feel as though I have been flying all through the day. This was the 'first' experience on this path. 'Something' really seems to have happened, not sure if it was the transmission or just my practice got better! No one seems to be talking about experiences with 'continued' Kunlun practice. Sharing that would be really encouraging to newbies like me.

Thanks Cameron... I will try Tao in a Bottle I guess. I also saw something called Eagle Vision on the list. I have really bad eyes and this would probably help. Has any one tried this? Also, I was not too sure if two herbal preparations can be tried at once?
