  4. Hear Qigong Master for Free!

Drew, Master Chunyi Lin teaches some preperatory exercises for Full Lotus. Did you happen to practice these before accomplishing the full lotus? I read somewhere that physical flexibility alone is not quite enough for full lotus. Any tip in this direction?
  5. Ganesha

Dude, You can have a better tone when talking to someone who lost a baby.... And what did you gain by asking this question? Ah! all 'bounce' and 'bliss' but no compassion .... And nightwatchdog, Keep the cuddly Ganesha in your heart always. Only the one who has experienced him knows what HE is. There are no words to describe him, except may be to say: he is innocence, he is bliss, he is a child and he is compassion personified.
  6. Ganesha

    Beautiful vizualizaton ...
  7. Ganesha

Ganesha is the Lord of Muladhara Chakra, the base. It is the tradition in Shakta Tantra to master his mantra and perfect it before proceeding to awaken the Kundalini using a Shakti mantra. This is true with Shaktas. However, there is a seperate sect of tantrics called Vainayakas who worship different forms of Ganesha in different chakras, starting with mahaganesh in muladhara and ucchishta ganesh in the crown. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sritattvanidh...rms_of_Ganapati Clearing obstacles is one aspect of Ganesha. gan means group and this group here refers to the senses and control over the senses is the ultimate fruit of his worship. Above all that, this dude has a very loving and powerful presence.
  8. Golden Dragon - Kunlun or other arts?

Dude! You've said that before! Can't you just say "I don't know"? - Same overdoze of Kunlun questions - Same vague "Practice Practice, let go" kind of answers So is some one gaining from these discussions? Just kidding, no offence
  9. Happy Birthday Yoda and Mantra68!

Happy Birthday to both you guyz ......
  10. Left in the Dark

Drew, All the stuff above, you have repeated a million times already. Are you in anyway associated with Learning strategies, the company which markets and sells his Qi gong course? I am asking this just out of curiosity. And some new piece of information about Chunyi Lin would be appreciated as we have "heard" the above several times from you
  11. Seamm Jasani

Anyone practicing Seamm Jasani? From Wiki: "Seamm-Jasani or Gentle Boabom is a slower, calmer system that consists of slow and fluid exercises that improve coordination and balance, and help to build an equilibrium between body and mind through various techniques of breathing and movement". There is the famous book: The Secret Art of Seamm Jasani: 58 Movements for Eternal Youth from Ancient Tibet. "Seamm-Jasani, an ancient Tibetan movement system, teaches us how to look and feel younger than our biological age, to increase health and decrease illness, and to find inner peace, calm, and relaxation. More than 10,000 years ago in the ancient Himalayan Mountains, an ancestral civilization committed itself to the study and development of the Science and Art for Eternal Youth. A form kept in close secrecy for millennia is now revealed for the first time in this practical and dynamic guidebook. The teachings focus on cultivating the powers of the individual's mind, the harmony of movements, and the discovery of internal potentialities as the ultimate force of self-healing to extend one's lifetime. Comparable to a cross between yoga and tai chi, this ancient Tibetan system is designed to increase vitality, balance, and Inner Energy. The Secret Art consists of slow and fluid movements that improve coordination and strengthen equilibrium between body and mind through various breathing and movement techniques. In particular, Seamm-Jasani is known for its combination of relaxation, active motion, and breathing exercises". A review on Amazon: "I ordered the Seamm Jasani book from simple curiosity. After one session of trying just the first few exercises, I knew I'd found "a pearl of great price". The energy washed over me in warm and gentle, yet powerful, waves, as though some kind of gate were unlocked. It felt so good. It has liberated something in me and I cannot thank this author enough. I have extensive experience in energy and movement systems (including nei gong/qi gong, Zen meditation, kundalini meditation, taijiquan, baguazhang, xingyiquan, various forms of Yoga, etc. After pondering the differences and similarities in movement among all of them, I have concluded that this one (Seamm Jasani) may be the original "root" system, from which the others derived various fragments over time. It seems to me that those other adopters then modified their fragments of this material for their own special purposes and created the various better-known systems. It's all a bit mysterious, but I can't argue with results. I've always been searching for a system that delivers the most "Bang" (pure energy) for the absolute least "Buck" (time investment, training process, special equipment, physical prerequisites, etc.) By this cost/benefit metric, Seamm Jasani takes "Win, Place, and Show" over any system or method known to me".
  12. Seamm Jasani

Thanks for the timely advice, I was about to hit the 'Go' on Amazon :-)
  13. Seamm Jasani

Exactly what I feel ... The book is somewhat clear but not clear enough to satisfactorily practice. You may want to check out some negative reviews for it as well on Amazon.

"Since the stilling of the mind is true liberation and miraculous powers are unattainable without an act of the mind, how can they whose mind is set on such powers enter the bliss of liberation which is the ending of all activity of the mind?" - Ramana "Mouna (silence) is the utmost eloquence. Peace is utmost activity. How? Because the person remains in his essential nature and so he permeates all the recesses of the Self. Thus he can call up any power into play whenever or wherever it is necessary. That is the highest siddhi." - Ramana "Not realizing that they themselves are moved by energy not their own, some fools are busy seeking miraculous powers. Their antics are like the boast of the cripple who said to his friends: 'If you raise me to my feet, these enemies are nothing before me." - Ramana "The siddhis are not the Self itself, but its powers, as are seeing, smelling, thinking, etc., with the sole exception that the latter are common experiences, whereas the siddhis are not. The powers themselves are unintelligent: the intelligent is their possessor. To fix the attention on the powers and not on their owner, who is the reality, is, therefore, like throwing away the pearl and retaining its shell" - Ramana "The force of Self-realization is far more powerful than the use of all other powers. Though Siddhis are said to be many and different, Jnana (True Knowledge) alone is the highest of those many different Siddhis, because those who have attained other Siddhis will desire Jnana. Those who have attained Jnana will not desire other Siddhis" - Ramana "Although the powers appear to be wonderful to those who do not possess them, yet they are only transient. People see many things which are far more miraculous than the so-called Siddhis, yet do not wonder at them simply because they occur every day. When a man is born he is no bigger than this electric bulb, but then he grows up and becomes a giant wrestler, or a world-famed artist, orator, politician or sage. People do not view this as a miracle but they are wonder struck if a corpse is made to speak" - Ramana "In order to display siddhis, there must be others to recognise them. That means, there is no jnana [realization of the non-dual self, the one without a second] in the one who displays them. Therefore, siddhis are not worth a thought. Jnana alone is to be aimed at and gained" - Ramana

Here comes the killer I am all ears for the answer ... Is the answer that compassion/blah blah is another unnecessary baggage of Buddhism [just quoting what I heard on another thread]? Now who needs compassionate beings... we need immortals and supermen.... This may be a different question, but cannot immortals *create* [hmm, assuming money to be a form of energy] - *transform* something to money? Now, if we believe in immortals and the various said capabilities, is this that impossible? no disrespect even slightly intended to any of the masters here ...
  16. So, I was reading about WYG's description of Michael Winn's Primordial QiGong. May be like Yoda once mentioned, the technique itself is Good, or originally was, but this guy simply seems to put me off. I cannot really understand what it is but while watching his instruction, I could feel excess of negativity in the gut. I was planning on taking one of his retreats, but someone 'inside' tells me 'don't go'. On the healing dao forum, I see this post where he speaks bad of Maharishi. Then there is one where he abuses David Shen. There is one more where he criticizes Max and Kunlun. Is his seemingly negative behavior and near non-appreciation of anything but his own stuff any indication of his practice or on a deeper level, the usefulness of his techniques? Are not the healing arts meant to make one more caring - to all and the self, more appreciative of nature, its creation, more accepting, less judgmental, more humble and a tad less abusive? I mean is he taking people for a ride? Speaking of Hindu Gurus cursing people and places, trapping souls to create demons and Michael saving the world by clearing the place using Atlantean [mind you, not the neo! The original!] and authentic Tao sizzlers? Common, give us a break! This seems as hilarious as some of Maharishi's claims. I am not trying to create another controversy but are certain practices ego boosters trapping one in an endless web? Or, as in Michael's case, create the need for some serious help
  17. for a healthier shape

I am looking for this book for a while now. Does not seem to be available in US/Canada. Anyone knows where to find it? Also, any recommendations for Kum Nye? I see some books by Lama Tarthang Tulku. Also, would appreciate if someone explained what is the difference between Kum Nye and Qi Gong, if they have similar goals and similar practices and stuff...

  21. Kechari Mudra

Hi Xienkula, Yes, I am a student of Srividya Kram Diksha. My Guru's website is here but he generally does not initiate people. I am not knowledgeable enough to pass opinion but Amritananda is considered as a 'new age' guru who picked some stuff from the ancient path and marketed it well. Some of the masters I have met, including mine, just smile when he is mentioned and say no more. I have met him once and was not impressed at all but was rather pissed by the sales talk, but yes, I am not judging him, this is my opinion and I could be wrong. If you were looking for someone accepted by the traditionalists, scholars and commoners alike, he certainly is not the person to go to! He does not go into much details and gives out a mantra, which is pretty much his teaching of Srividya. This seems to work well with people who want a taste of Srividya but for serious practitioners, this seems highly insufficient. Regards....
  22. Kechari Mudra

Khechari Mudra is one among the 10 secret Tantric finger mudras, each very complicated. It is imparted during the initiation (diksha) ceremony to a qualified aspirant. An incorrect and not-really-close-to-the-correct form can be seen here. This should however give an idea of what it might look like. It is used while meditating on one of the enclosures of Sri Yantra (seventh), to completely still the mind and station it in Chidakasha or the 'Sky of inner Consciousness'.
  23. Kunlun and kidney energy

That's some real good counsel!! Exactly what Master Chunyi Lin told me ....
  24. Babaji's Kriya Yoga?

Yes, they do work, but does one really attain immortality or realization by doing these series of asanas, pranayama and visualization and of course those mantras (!) - as claimed - is what someone needs to think if simple health benefits are not what they seek from these guys. There are two kinds of people - those with very less karmic content, called the 'camphors' - a touch of practice is enough for them to go ablaze and get success. For the rest, who are 'wet wood', and who need proper drying, these may not work in the intended way. It is the majority of such seekers who were traditionally warned to choose carefully what they get into as they would put in a lifetime's practice. Incorrect practice - taught without proper discernment and learnt incorrectly - both can cause irreparable damage. These Asanas of course work in the way they are meant to. All I was speaking was against the cult operation, sensationalism, unneeded stories, uncalled criticism of other masters and unhealthy commercialism. When a series of techniques found all over the place are packaged with all these unnecessary elements, it may be an indication. It is probably Falun-Dafa-ish in my opinion. I remember reading Yogani's views on this topic, but cannot find it at this moment. Will find it later and post the link. Also, Lahiri Baba taught various different techniques with similarities and differences to various disciples. So one cannot really call what SRF teaches or what someone else popular teaches as THE model. And this is my last post on this topic.
  25. Babaji's Kriya Yoga?

This simply is a 'Tamilized' term coined by Govindan and team, in all probability. The so-called Siddha literature, especially the Tamilian tradition, revolves around aspects of Yoga, Bhakti and Vedanta, selected from the mainstream scriptures, narrated through stories and songs, most often with a mystic touch. A lot of it is also heavily influenced by regional folklore. The word 'soruba' seems to be a distorted form of the word 'Swarupa': swa-self, rupa-form i.e. the True form of the Self. What the true form of the self is described variously by various philosophies like Advaita, Dvaita, Vishishtadvaita. Scriptures speak of Sabija/Nirbija and Savikalpa/Nirvikalpa Samadhis and there is no Soruba/Swarupa Samadhi described. As in Nirvikalpa Samadhi the true form of the self is revealed, it is probably this that the ancients wandering yogis of Tamil region described as Soruba. And this now is described variously as Golden Body, Light body etc. While describing Samadhi, various schools of thought have different approach, like Raja Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Advaita etc. But none of these speak in terms of the body or of immortality. Of course, even in the absence of proof from scriptures or teachings of various other masters in this regard, Govindan's terminology can be accepted if he describes it as "directly from Babaji". Having spoken to various lineages of Kriya currently (SRF being only one of them and not even faintly popular with serious Kriya Yogis in India), what I understand is that Kriya was a practice that was simple and repeated practice of the same was what was taught. Gita and other scriptures have abundant references to this practice. 'Babaji's Kriya' seems to be a hosh posh of various Pranayamas, Kriyas, Mudras etc. from different traditions. I took his class mainly out of curiosity and the moment I heard his atrocious mantras, I kicked myself out. He even displayed some writing as Babaji's signature, vehemently describing how every one taught wrong kriyas or incomplete kriyas and how he was the only one to know the true form. Not the true sign of a master! I also observed an interesting thing, some of the practices taught are in the same sequence as some standard books like Hatayoga Pradipika, Gheranda Samhita, Yogasara etc. Set A's sequence is from Book A, Set B from Book B and so on! Yes! If one says, "that was how Babaji revealed three bags of techniques that people learn in two days in level 1", I will believe them. The amount of mudslinging Ramaiah and Govindan did at each other at one point in time was known through out South India and Yogis of the previous generation fondly called them "jokers" :-) There is some discussion here.
