  1. How does awakening relate to the individual? You don't wake up, rather awakeness wakes up, or the universe, or something else wakes up through you. So in that sense awakening can be a great blow to the individual as you get absolutely nothing out of it.

Yet the experience is still localised, which is why there can be a kind of paradox. Why it is localised I believe is because we all have energetic constructs within us which block others awakeness from seeping into our own awareness, which often don't work very well when you are in close proximity to the truth. It can't be said that any awakening is different than any other in the sense that it is always the same thing which wakes up, it is the same thing which wakes up in the Buddha as that wakes up in you or me, yet there is still an individual flavour or character to all of our unique expressions of that.

  2. I consider there to be a difference between healing and enlightenment, you could spend decades meditating which could bring a lot of balance to your mind and psyche, but it doesn't necessarily get you closer to enlightenment than someone who sincerely asks the question "who am I?" .

Enlightenment is outside of time and isn't earned, which is why if you put it off as something to be attained after lots of hard work in the future you may be further off than someone who recognises what is really here right now.

Yes I have high sensitivities, what do you mean burn out and unhealthy merging please expound on those. Thank you very much.

From a psychology perspective being in others issues a lot of the time can be a sign of co-dependency, so in that condition rather than being in your own issues and in your own body you live vicariously through others. Feeling others emotions as a way of avoiding your own.

This is a danger many empaths face, as ultimately outside of your own stuff it isn't your business, or like Byron Katie says there are three kinds of business in the universe- yours, mine and God's and most of our stress comes from living outside of our own business.

Burnout is quite common in empaths because of taking responsibility for what isn't theirs is very stressful. You see in most relationships to a certain extent and especially in family dynamics.

  4. I would start by using the breath as the object, it is conceptual enough to give you a focus so your mind has something to train itself to, but not concrete enough to lead to any fixation.

I wouldn't make it too complicated just use the breath to create a space where you can see the mind weave its tricks without you acting out its impulses

After a while of doing that you can become aware of the gaps and pauses in between the breath, then everything can start to unravel and all the secrets reveal themselves.

After that you can just rest in the space or rather rest as the space, which is basically the ultimate meditation

  5. Silence is the source of everything including ourselves. What the silence is nobody can really say, but even if we can't say what it is we can be it, or rather we can recognise we already are it and remain as that rather then dream we are something else.

The relationship between silence and energy is a good question and is a kind of mystery as even when energy is flowing most intensely silence can be found at the centre of it. When it comes to the human body finding the silence at the centre of a knot or blockage is one way of liberating it and restoring the energy flow, as an issue needs constant movement or noise to be kept alive but when held in stillness or silence it dissolves. So silence is the great liberator of energy, it is also the great harmoniser if one can submit or surrender to its intelligence, so I guess we can say some things about the characteristics or functions of silence

So do we wonder why the Self veils the Self, for the Self does not gain or lose in relation to or from such veiling?

Maybe to have the experience of not knowing what it is. As it already knows everything else

  7. There is unlimited energy available us through the sun, through the tides, it is only a matter of time until we harness it. Many countries are going to be moving to 100% renewables in the near future. Northern European countries will be the first and then others will follow. The energy companies are going to do whatever they can to slow this down so they retain their power and profit, but without our reliance on oil we can finally stop propping up dispicable regimes in the Middle East, stop fighting wars for resources. It may sound idealistic but it is potentially very close if everyone gets on board as a popular movement, no need for us to mindlessly destroy ourselves.

  8. For those interested in longevity just look at the Dalai Lama, he's 83 and still travelling the world and continually teaching and attending conferences. Bar a few minor health issues his doctors say his body is like someone half his age. It's likely to go crazy in Tibet when he dies so let's hope he has many years left in him.

Have you read the Anastasia books?

I have read the first one, I liked it. It also got me putting a load of seeds in my mouth before I planted them 😁

Jesus was also physically born of a woman. What we are talking about is moving beyond the earthly body. The "child" being described is knowing you are not really of the physical body (as such an attachment is death).

Ok I get it now, thanks

I don't think he is making any such statement. The context and meaning of the statement "born of a woman" is significant as Jesus talks about two bodies, the earthly human and the one that is "born of the Holy Spirit". He is differentiating between the two. Here is a descriptor for you from the gospels...

     1 Corinthians 3:16-17

16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 17 If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.

    1 Corinthians 15:42-49

42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. 43 It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. 44 It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 45 And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual. 47 The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lordfrom heaven. 48 As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. 49 And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bearthe image of the heavenly Man.

Ok so what is the significance of discriminating between the two?

Not an evolution at that point, more he is saying the John is not "realized" or yet a "son of God". John is the most powerful of teachers (human masters), residing at the soul, but not yet begun the higher differentiation. In Taoist terms you could say he was a sage, but not yet a realized immortal.

So if its saying that John is the highest being at that point but isn't an immortal, then it means Jesus didn't perceive the Buddha or early Taoists as high as John or as immortals, which is pretty controversial.

    I think you nailed it.

    46. Jesus said, "From Adam to John the Baptist, among those born of women, no one is so much greater than John the Baptist that his eyes should not be averted. But I have said that whoever among you becomes a child will recognize the (Father's) kingdom and will become greater than John."

Does this suggest some kind of evolution in enlightenment? Like later generations after John have a potential to go further or deeper

    Very nice Apech,

    44. Jesus said, "Whoever blasphemes against the Father will be forgiven, and whoever blasphemes against the son will be forgiven, but whoever blasphemes against the holy spirit will not be forgiven, either on earth or in heaven."

This is one passage which never made sense to me, not that this helps the discussion :)  but my feeling of the holy spirit is that it is eternal forgiveness for anything

  15. It's a bit arbitrary saying charity work is good and crime is bad. Charity work can just reinforce the identity around being a "good" person, it can be done from a place of pure egotism. While killing someone could be the morally correct thing to do under the circumstances.

So "we don't know but it's wrong"?

Climate scientists have done extensive testing and modelling to know what the earths temperature would be expected to be during this era (without human input) based on past trends and averages. The important point being the temperature rise is above expected averages, the most probable cause being the human input of co2 into the atmosphere.

So I ask again, what is the proper temperature for the Earth?  Seems a critical question if we are going to "get this right."

The earth appears to go through natural cycles of warming and cooling, so the correct temperature is whatever temperature the earth should be at during that point in the cycle.

If human activity is interfering with that cycle and pushing up temperatures above expected rates then that is the incorrect temperature for the earth at that point.

He is backed by the president, so he is not going to be in the shoes of (e.g.) Arpad Pusztai (with whom I had personal correspondence back in the day) who published the results of his study of the GM potato concluding it's not safe for human consumption.  Yes he was fired, vilified in the press and blacklisted.  End of career of the world's leading lectinologist.

And no one was offering you any "global conspiracy" points.  What was pointed out was the conspiracy within a group marching to the tune of the same drummer, united by a cause they are conspiring to safeguard by discrediting the whistleblower -- with multiple signatures of the conspirators testifying to its real rather than imaginary nature.  Conducing a discussion by setting up straw men, making up the opponent's arguments to attack rather than addressing his/her actual ones, is a tool of demagogy, not of inquiry.

The repeated theme of this thread is that Climate Change is a global conspiracy aimed at damaging the USA , if that isn't your position then I am glad you clarified. That is the belief of Trump who thinks it is a Chinese invention.

And I expect the reason for the intervention letter by the other scientists is because the stakes are so high. We are talking about the future of the planet and survival of humanity, we have to get this right as a species otherwise we are screwed. There needs to be as much clarification, fact checking and hard science going on as possible.

Yup, this is exactly how it is always done by Dominant Baboon, Ph.D..  Conspiracy to destroy the dissenter; followed by ganging up and taking action; followed by licking the blood off the mugs with utmost satisfaction.  This case is only unique in that the president happens to back up the dissenter, whereas in a typical case the dissenter is alone against the mob.  Not many undertake suicidal missions of challenging the status quo.

How many of the greatest discoveries and inventions in the history of science were made by majority vote?  Zero.  You can't "peer review" the truth if the peers have evolved to their status as such via a vicious and relentless process of unnatural selection -- all of them.

It's hardly mob justice, the majority of the response was fact checking the original claims as well as clarifying their own position and the majority position. Has the guy been fired or ostracized in any way except by letter? Not as far as I know, is there any evidence his funding has been cut as a result? Nope.

Flimsy evidence of mob rule and very flimsy evidence of global conspiracy
