  1. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

Well Terry, I am sold and will be ordering some of the FP DVDs today. Your sincerity and depth of providing instruction far exceeds any sales pitch possible. The mark of a true teacher. Thanks again for your input here. And I am so glad I found this place just recently and had the opportunity to read your posts and gain from them.

It has been mentioned to me that bi-location or some type of phase shifting of one's body as perceived by the opponent is also possible on advanced levels. But of this I have no direct corroboration or knowledge.

This is profound. In my own martial training it is quite the advantage to not focus directly on the opponent, but use a vision that takes in the whole picture of and around the opponent. It is with this "peripheral" type of seeing that I can notice the silhouette of my opponent when he initiates the thought to move into an attack. He gives away his intention and telegraphs his move. I am then able to move, after he does, and arrive before he does...beating him beautifully every time with this reaction and time advantage. No matter what he attempts to throw at me, I can see it the moment his mind thinks and his body initiates his movement...and BANG...my effective counter is at the ready instantaneously. There is an advantage to not being on the offense. This same vision is quite helpful when sparring against multiple attackers. Over time, it seems, the vision comes without necessarily seeing something with the eyes, but the mind's eye develops a presence and spatial awareness around yourself. Keeping track of and dealing with four moving opponents at the same time becomes much more effortless and effective.
  4. Hi everyone!

What's a question? ...it's going to be a long day.
  5. Sleep Paralysis & Demons of the Night

I had one incident myself of something unseen making its way around my space.
  6. Sleep Paralysis & Demons of the Night

I have a close friend who told me of an episode in her bedroom with a shadow. It had appeared twice before, but both times were very quick glancing observations kind of out of the corner of her eye. So a quick dismissal was her likely response. But there was that question of whether something was just there in he mind...or was it just a trick of the light. The third time was a charm. It appeared more openly and did not leave so quickly. It came off the wall and stood at the foot of her bed, crawled over her and held her down. As she was being held down, she could not any longer actually see the shadow. It held her down for what she recalled as a minute and a half. It would not let her up. After ordering it to go away several times it disappeared and she could now get off the bed. She never had another encounter like this.

So the martial qigong is perhaps not a part of the FP DVD series? And the martial qigong is a more advanced instruction that was perhaps later given?
  8. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

One question to the forum. Which system, or lineage of internal energy practice is most suitable for martial applications?
  9. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

I would like to send you a short PM with a couple questions soon should it not be too much of an imposition on your time. Thanks again.
  10. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

Thanks for that Terry. I truly am being sincere with no false flattery. But what you, Gary and the rest have provided here has been most useful to me with these different methods, their comparison, the lineages, your own personal experiences and elaborations. Thank you all again very much. Important in identifying and avoiding erroneous and ineffective methods or the tendency to over-intellectualize information at the expense of actual achievement. It can be an overwhelming task for the western mind to attempt comprehension of such things and many practices remain hidden to the public...many times for good reasons. I have been frustrated and disappointed several times pursuing clear instruction over the years and stumbled onto this site searching for more information regarding Share K. Lew. My knowledge and practice has been built by piecemeal. As it seems I have been practicing his six standing and six seated techniques for over a decade without even knowing from where they originated. I knew there was more to this system, but had no idea how much more or whether it was available. It would seem no one offers this on DVD out of respect for the request of Lew himself, if I understand you correctly on this matter. It would be my hope that he would consider offering this to others through video media in the future or authorize a gifted student the permission to produce such a work. To avoid the degradation or loss of any aspects of coherency to the art. I was fortunate enough at the age of sixteen to meet, observe and take a few classes with Master Andrew Chung in the Hollywood, Florida area, but unfortunately not for very long. It would have been a true gift to able to study with him in the long term. Your acknowledgment of him on your website with video links is most apropos. Respect to you for that. I had returned to the area and was going to get more instruction from him in the early nineties. He had moved from his studio on Johnson Street around the corner to a larger school. And after, some time, that new location closed down and I think he may have moved back to the old location. I was too busy in college and partying at the time to give much thought to his school, but I also did not realize the extent of his knowledge and how gifted he truly is in the arts. Had I known that, and not been so distracted with the folly of youth, then perhaps I would have dedicated myself wholeheartedly to his instruction if he would have me as a student. You present your system eloquently. May I also add that the price for your Flying Phoenix DVDs are most reasonable and you seem more than enthusiastic, astute and willing to advise those practicing the method (which is invaluable).
  11. Western "success"....vs...Taoism

You have demonstrated that you are the type of person capable of self-reflection enough to even consider and ask this type of question. Whether you regard it as ethics, virtue or morality. My friend...you have already won the battle. Unlike the majority of zombies that walk the earth. Strength and perseverance to you in all your endeavors...may abundance be yours.
  12. Taoist Practices

Thanks for this Eric. I will check out The Tao and the Tree of Life book.
  13. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrk. door slowly and creakily opens... in scampers metal dog... sniff... sniff... sniff... pant... squat(low horse, of course)... I detect there are scrumptious and fortifying morsels of information, knowledge and wisdom generously provided, shared and exchanged in a most mature and respectful manner upon these forum pages. It is cozy and warm too. I think I will perhaps meander a bit, leading with my nose, to see where curiosity takes me. Should I find something enticing and appetizing then indulge I shall and perhaps offer up my humble, yet hopefully stimulating and suitable reply when moved to do so. Areas of intense fascination for me may result in my longstanding, and perhaps long-winded, participation...so excuse me should I casually lift my leg and regularly mark some pertinent...territory. Thank your for having me. With Respect to All, Metal Dog.
  14. greetings, salutations and kind regards

Thank you for that A Seeker.
  15. stuff i thought i knew

This thread is golden, as is the work of Chia. Thank you for these contributions Little1.
  16. Industrial Society Destroys Mind and Environment

I would say that making the change by moving from a large suburb plagued with urban sprawl to a rural farming area has done wonders for my mood. The well-lit signs of shopping centers and "food" restaurants lining every inch of a major boulevard was beginning to hurt my eyes and blind my brain. Now I have pitch black skies with stars that are not dimmed by artificial lighting on a grand scale. The quite and solitude took some time getting used to and was a bit unsettling at first. Like pus oozing from a wound. But now things are quite healed.
  17. Pyramid Texts

King Tut Mysteries Solved: Was Disabled, Malarial, and Inbred http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2010/02/100216-king-tut-malaria-bones-inbred-tutankhamun/ It is interesting in the above article's picture of the famous Tut mask, that some are now considering it isn't Tut at all, but his brother. http://www.eutimes.net/2010/06/king-tuts-dna-is-western-european/ Hawass was covering these findings up and wasn't going to release them to the public, but an underling whistleblower felt the truth took priority over keeping history..."official".
  18. greetings, salutations and kind regards

Thank you for that most...foreboding...welcome. I see. Perhaps you will need some feline grilling and special sauce recipes?
  19. Muscle pain caused by draft, how does it work?

Cold air drafts, particularly on the back of the neck and shoulder region's trapezius muscle, can commonly tighten this muscle and aggravate active or latent myofascial trigger points (as defined by Travell and Simmons http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trigger_point). What is interesting is that Travell uses a vapocoolant spray over the surface of the skin while stretching a muscle to increase its length and range of motion. In this instance...cold with stretch loosens. But it is vital that the spray is a very precise and narrow stream, as a mist or wide coverage over the skin would not be effective and would chill the client. This chilling could then contribute to a tensing-up of the area and negate the therapy. There are certain nerve receptors that are responsible for this and no reason why their aggravation would not produce a reflexive feeling of a deep ache in the muscles and particularly the joints especially if exposed over a long duration and with minimal blood circulating (resting, sleeping). This soreness, due to chilling, never stays with me long and usually goes away once I warm up and get my circulation going. Others may be more affected this way. My master instructed me never to do energy practices while chilled or in the cold, as this will tend to drive the cold deeper into the body and can lead to illness. Maintaining warm comfort during practice was advised.
  20. Thoughts on 2012?

2012 I don't subscribe to the many theories of what is supposed to happen this specific year. Some have stated that the supposed galactic alignment is also not astronomically accurate, but the accuracy of this does not necessarily concern me. It lies in a "let's wait and see" mode. But I will state that astrology (astromancy) was one of the branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine (as was feng shui...based upon geomancy)and could be considered regarding the transition from the age of Pisces into the age of Aquarius. I would not outrightly discount the profundity of these subjects. The holy book, The Bible, tells of the transition from the age of Taurus (golden calf) into the age of Pisces with the figure Jesus. And much historical, societal, collective and personal psychological change and turmoil can occur of a certain hue according to astrological correspondences. For you consideration regarding 2012... http://michaeltsarion.com/mtsarforum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=35 http://www.taroscopes.com/highwindowsarticles/shiva-holyspirit-ageofaquarius.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01sLroMoyYI&feature=related http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8545585184878490822&q=michael+tsarion#

May I say that this is a most interesting and informative topic thread and was the juicy, meaty bone compelling metal dog to nudge open the door and enter this forum sniffing wildly nose first. Much gratitude to Terry Dunn and other forum members for revealing and sharing this information. Truly a valuable and noteworthy contribution. Thank you.
