  1. How good would Ryu be if he could "Only" hadou-ken. And how good would sub-zero be if he could only throw ice balls?

It isn't a cartoon but. When there's a good chance you won't be alive the next month, martial arts are a good investment, especially if you have abilities of some sort.

  2. Practice (repetition) is the key, imho. Heart and spirit I think are important, because without dedication and passion I don't think the repetitions really sink into your being quite as effectively - not to mention the difficulty of motivating yourself to practice enough.

But it really does boil down to time + effort = talent. At least in my opinion.

This. It takes certain mentalities for certain jobs to be able to do that job for hours, or even days on end.

  3. Kathy Li is pathetically accusing Dragongatenyc of being the same person as theTaoBum. surely that is meant as a compliment, because he has impressive material, but certainly inaccurate. I would like to meet theTaoBum, he sounds like a really interesting guy!

clearly Skyfly, Gaxtal, weweidao = kathy li. (kathy, please try to be with the tao; be reborn in each moment in order to let go of past grievances that you Yourself are responsible for. the world does not accept a twisted disgruntled teacher like yourself; you have much cleaning up to do. attacking others is Ugly and not with the Tao!)

By now, everyone knows that the new student price is $3900, and the old student price is $3200. That's old news :-).

More power to Kronos and Ken for being fair and objective when it's called for! We love our functional Tao Family xooooxooxox.

    Strong 8 posts are strong.

  4. I downloaded an episode of "Bizarre foods", this episode was from Korea.

Andrew Zimmern went to a sort of TCM restaurant where he had a tea that cleared the sinusses immediately.

Anyone know which herb this could be, specifically?

Im not sure but it could be astragalus.. The first time drinking it,RIGHT after my second gulp of the tea.. I had a large ball of mucus/blood drop onto my tongue, went to the bathroom quickly and spit it out.

For months/years one side of my nose would very often be closed, since then it hasn't.

It could very well be Astragalus, I would only take it under supervision/being diagnosed by a TCM doctor.

Taking any during a fever or sickness can be very very dangerous.

  5. To a path, the more difficult it is to progress in, the fewer the people there will be to keep it alive.

All paths Meditation/guitar/ballet/running/football/basketball ect are variables. they're essentially same being they are all Arts. It is debatable whether something can be perfected, but that is the goal.

There is no path better then another, in the same way one season is better than another. You also eventually end up in "your" ideal season.

The one thing all paths have in common is they lead to the same thing in the end, the source. You may start at guitar, or running, but the underlying goal is divinity..

    It is inevitible.

  6. Hi Way is Virtue, you edited your post (!) before I could add a comment from a prominent qigong/martial arts teacher.

A few good articles about important qigong, energy and IMA concepts can be read at his YMAA website.

Basic Concepts of Qi and Qigong - Part 1

Basic Concepts of Qi and Qigong - Part 2

Two Keys for Regulating Your Breathing and Circulating Qi

    Other YMAA articles

Ya, I really like Yangs input. His books are very good too, there's few things that I disagree on. But yeah overall he describes things very well.

  7. Hey guys,

I sent sifu Terry a PM about this but I guess he's away and hasn't got a chance to reply yet.

I have been doing the FP chi kung meditations (volume 1 & 2) for an hour or two a day for the last 3 weeks and I'm encountering 2 major issues:

    1. I cannot feel any "chi" or "energy" flow whatsoever. It looks to an outsider watching chi kung movements that all one is doing is doing some slow repetitive gestures, well, that is what I experience. I get very frustrated at the end of the session because I don't notice anything tangible.

    2. This happens every other session, after I have finished, I become extremely irritable and agitated which is quite unpleasant, I think this mostly stems from the frustration caused by point #1.

    Any ideas about this?

Maybe you're supposed to be doing it on the ground outside rather then inside. If your frustration has to do with not feeling the energy..

That can take time, it can take more then a year even to really feel energy without it just coming and going. The first step is your well being, keep that in mind. If mentally/physically you don't feel any better after 2 - 4 months, then you did before you started, I wouldn't continue. I would try something else.

  8. This website

    says the following:

    "SAFETY ISSUES:

Should not be used to treat acute infections. Use cautiously in patients with hypertension or heat signs. Discontinue use if it causes headache.

    STARTING DOSAGE: dried powder

    • Dried powder: 1-3 grams per day for long-term use"

Not sure how many grams to a teaspoon of astragalus powder. Maybe a couple of grams per teaspoon, but just guessing. So, if that is in the ballpark, that would seem to be within the daily dosage.

Hm. maybe I'll try half a tea spoon and see if anything changes. I probably don't need much if any I guess then.

I did see alot of results the first time around though.

  9. What form did you take it in and in what dosage? I've taken astragalus capsules before and have never noticed any side effects at all. I think the capsules I took were around 500 mg per capsule.

    It's a 10:1 extraction. It's powder form, I took a tea spoon.

Boiled water then poured it in the cup with the teaspoon of it. The dosage also says a tea spoon.

    And no, no other medications.

  10. Tried astragalus for the first time in maybe 3 months. It started off with a headache in the back of my head (maybe a 3).

Now its switched over to a cool soothing sensation, but my entire head. Not so much inside though, more the higher regions and the front.

Anyone know what may cause this?

  11. Liberal, Conservative,straight,gay,tall,short.

All meaningless bullshit. One thing people can agree on is we have to move foward. Also if we're going to do so we have to stop using the labels the people we're fighting are branding us as.

If you're with us, that means you're a conservative! yeah you're good and hardworking, you don't take money from the government, you don't destroy the country.

If you're liberal you're with us, and against the un-self educated masses who support corporations.

People don't realize divided you will never fix the problems, of EITHER SIDE. Meaning you won't fix problems people known as the left would want to, nor the right.

The first step is to realize you are not represented by a president, no matter who is in office these days. This goes predominantly for congress aswell.

You want a grass roots movement? You get the "People" together. You don't divide them by calling one side stupid and one smart.

  12. it distorts the energy body from the physical body, warps the consciousness into a slower vibrational frequency..... prone to entity interaction...could be good could be bad.....most likely bad...

it sounds like you've never smoked salvia. is this the case? If you smoke a lot of salvia, most likely you are going to completely forget about your intention to meditate....... large doses of salvia and meditation do not really mix......

2 nights ago I smoked DMT for my first time and meditated.... now THAT is an experience completely indescribable, perhaps the most amazing experience of my life... I learned many sacred things.

I would stay away from salvia... the shamans who practiced with it were extremely experienced and dedicated their whole lives to their craft...

attempting to meditate while on salvia may result in some very bad effects on the consciousness and energy body... you are opening yourself up to many dangerous things

DMT huh, care to make a thread on the experience?

    Im interested.

  13. what i think is that this plants were put on earth for a reason not to just sit there and do nothing and we us humans should take advantage of this instead of just saying is bad for practice what about the shamans they used it and were healthy and lived long what i think is that there a lot of stuff i earth were not taking advantage of.

I don't see why you would ask if you believed that yourself. Do you feel like it may hinder your development in any way?

  14. I think any stimulant similar is slightly harmful one way or another.

All that's required is moderation, I would never do a substance similar before meditation. If I had, I would take a day or 3 off from training.

I don't know much other then that.
