  1. The Tao Bums Daily Meditation Challenge

    Here here ! Excellent words.
  2. How important is a closing?

Yes, that's exactly what I do. I also put my palm on the position of the dantien, with my other palm on the back of the first one. Then i rub/rotate 36 times clockwise, then 36 counter-clockwise.
  3. How important is a closing?

Every time I do a nei gong set, meditation or zhan zhuang, I always finish off with a closing/rubbing/patting all over the body. Just to make sure that the accumulated qi does not get 'stuck' anywhere. Especially in the head as this can be dangerous. Good post.
  4. Indoors or Outdoors ?

Something I've been pondering lately. Weather permitting of course, is it more beneficial to train outdoors.
  5. very important :)

Gotta agree with steve. Reading the works of JK is meditation. Well, it is for me anyway. Like steve says, if you read the words slowly and let it seep into your very core, the feeling is remarkable. You just know what he's talking about is correct. It's hard to put into words actually. Like a mirror to your own mind. It took me a couple of goes before I finally got JK, but once I did, I never looked back. A truly remarkable person.
  6. Heart Mind Fasting Meditation

Fantastic. I'm gonna start meditating this way.
  7. Who Teaches Martial Arts?

I share what I know with my family close friends who are interested in what I myself have learned. Buddhist study and meditation, nei gong and zhan zhuang. I don't charge anything at all. It just pleases me that I can help others develop themselves physically, mentally and spiritually.
  8. The power of Internal Martial Arts

Got the file ! Cheers for that.
  9. Why Practice Internal Boxing Arts (Neijiaquan)?

Martial arts are in my blood man ! I've gone from the 'external' arts of judo, karate, wing chun, muay thai, ninjutsu etc when I was younger, to the 'internal' of xingyiquan and yiquan. Basically, the first reason I switched as I got older, was for health. The externals take a lot out of you, and I've had a few injuries over the years which would have gotten worse had I continued. Xingyi and yiquan have allowed me to build a strong healthy body from the inside out and taught me that I can deliver 'maximum power with minimum effort'. They have also given me a light, fluid feeling in all physical aspects of life such as walking and even when at work. I only wish I had discovered them at an earlier age. I hope that through these excellent practices, that I can move gracefully into old age, and not stumble into it.
  10. What is so "special" about full lotus?

I don't know why but I have never had any trouble getting into full lotus, ever. Must be a flexibility thing. I sit in it to meditate, to recite, to read books and sutras, to watch tv, listen to music, whatever. I find it very comfortable and very relaxing for the mind as well as the body.
  11. The power of Internal Martial Arts

San Ti Shi is an incredibly powerful standing practice and very difficult to hold for long periods. But if you are diligent enough the rewards are beyond description. Less form work, more San Ti Shi !
  12. The power of Internal Martial Arts

Yeah, I would like it also.
  13. Yin or yang... never both.

  14. Threat to TCM in UK. Urgent Action Needed.

    My MP is Kevan Jones
  15. Threat to TCM in UK. Urgent Action Needed.

Done. Thanks for bringing this to everyone's attention. This country is getting ridiculous.
  16. ZZ has been around a very long time. Way before Yiquan was even thought about.
  17. How to die?

For anyone interested in Pure Land Buddhism, which focusses on the recitation of the Buddha Amitabha's name, here is a great website concerning a Japanese form of it. http://www.jsri.jp/English/Main.html
  18. What happened to E-Sangha?

Judging by all the Buddhist threads lately maybe they already have. Also we may have our own version of Namdrol. I wonder if you can all guess who it is ?
  19. Shiba Luohan Qigong

Thanks for this Steve. This is a very nice set and performed wonderfully. Wouldn't mind learning this.
  20. The power of Internal Martial Arts

The best xingyi vid I have seen. Some very good variations on the five fists also which are rarely seen. And not a single pair of MMA speedos in sight Excellent stuff !
  21. To The American People

Hi everyone. I know that the majority of folks on the forums are from the states so I'd like to say you are all wonderful people. Me, the wife and our two boys have recently returned to England from our two week holiday in Florida. We were also there in '08. We were very impressed with the level of politeness, good manners, friendliness and welcoming attitude of you all. I'm not just talking about the workers from the theme parks and restaurants who's job it is to be polite. But the general public and people on vacation. This is not something seen in Britain anymore sadly. Friendliness is often viewed with suspicion over here as too often people are afraid to open up. Thanks to everyone who have made an English family very happy (twice !). I'm already missing it. Hope to be back soon. God Bless America !
  22. How to practice Zazen

This is indeed one of the simplest but informative explanations of Zazen I've come across. It's absolutely wonderful. The essence of Zen which is so often overlooked in favour of sutra study and recitation. Thank you for sharing this video.
  23. Sense Pleasures

Hi Everyone. In a lot of spiritual/religious systems there seems to be a lot written on this subject. That the way to enlightenment/bliss is to discard sensory pleasures and emotions. There seems to be a paradox that I can't figure out. Is it so wrong to appreciate beauty, love and to have compassion for all living beings ? Also, the afterlife plays a dominant part in a lot of religions. Are we missing out on life now by focussing on the future and the next life, whatever form that may take ? I'd be interested in people's opinions and help with this dilemma.
