  1. fanatical Buddhists

Another couple of days and it will be.
  2. Cutivating The Way

hsin hsin ming.pdf The Dao in Ch'an clothing. Utterly profound and brilliant. Read it, contemplate it, meditate on it. All attachments to your belief system will float away like clouds in the sky.
  3. Non medical tao practices?

My favourite book on the subject of internal health cultivation is this. (wonder if you could tell ) It's pricey from amazon but if I'm not mistaken there's other places online where you can get it. A gem.
  4. fanatical Buddhists

Well said. I couldn't agree more.
  5. fanatical Buddhists

  6. Cutivating The Way

Thanks cheya, I enjoyed reading the commentary to the slightly different translation than the one I presented. I may try to give my own interpretation in the near future. As Jos Slabbert says it is a piece of writing in which it's message is to be lived, as well as read and studied. I believe that this is a very important text for cultivators of the Dao and of the Dharma. I can't believe there's only been 1 reply so far. Maybe the folks here are more interested in slanging matches and the acquisition of super powers and such like. Such a shame.
  7. fanatical Buddhists

I agree. These forums are becoming tedious with constant Buddhist propaganda and sectarian fundamentalism. It's a shame really because some quality is found on these boards. You may have to look really hard through the forest of Buddhist related threads though.
  8. Who would want to be detached from their senses ? I certainly wouldn't. We are human beings, not emotionally devoid robots. This is what bugs me about Buddhism or the enlightenment issue in general. My freedom comes from accepting what is, and not some notion of what might be. The beauty of a flower The sound of birdsong The smell of pine trees The taste of tea The touch of a loved one All 5 senses fully engaged. How wonderful life is. Simple, natural and spontaneous.
  9. I'm fed up with it. There's plenty of Buddhist forums out there.
  10. A section for Buddhist Discussion

How about having a section dedicated to Taoist Discussion ?
  11. Secret of the Golden Flower

I must add that the commentary by Jung is misleading and should be discarded when reading the text. Anyone looking to practice neidan from the teachings in this book, would be well advised to remember this.
  12. Well said. I know several Buddhists and they would never get into a slanging match, whether in day to day activities, or online. It makes a mockery out of the teachings to be honest.
  13. This is something that is happening on an all too frequent basis unfortunately. It's a shame really, because there is a lot of good stuff in these forums.
  14. Vaj is right and everyone else is wrong..........again !! I'm having deja-vu. Or did this happen on these forums before, many times.
  15. That is absolutely disgusting ! How can these people class themselves as compassionate and wise ?
  16. So glad you haven't left these forums. This is excellent. Thanks
  17. Secret of the Golden Flower

Isn't it funny how you come back to books or teaching's that you originally thought were not for you ? Well, I've done just that with the Wilhelm version. I seem to understand it's message a bit better now. I think JJ Semple is right. This is a book on the arousing of the kundalini, albeit written in Chinese taoist alchemical language. I may need to re-think my approach to meditation, and of the obvious life-changing result of such an experiment.
  18. Recommend me some films or documentaries

Confucius with Chow Yun Fat is a really good film. I'm looking forward to see the Shaolin Temple film with Jackie Chan when it gets a UK release.
  19. Thank you CowTao for bringing this subject up. I don't know anything about Tibetan medicine, or Tibetan Buddhism for that matter, but your link provides a lot of good information which I will take the time to read through when I have more time. It looks very interesting. This is a refreshing change from the usual arguments as to whose system/religion/tradition/philosophy is the best. Good stuff.
  20. I know, it's ridiculous. Whether or not folks agree on the thread's original point, it has been derailed by personal arguments. This seems to be the norm now on the forums. The quality of content has nosedived. There isn't much original material about, just re-hashed old topics.
  21. Bodyoflight. Why don't you make the title of the thread a bit longer ? Apart from that, your threads and posts have a bitter undercurrent running through them. You are dissing folks that have spouses and families, thinking that we couldn't possibly cultivate. Enlightenment, awakening, realization or whatever you want to call it, is available to anyone. Not just the Himalayan yogi or the forest hermit without worldly concerns. You are stuck in a western style romanticized fantasy, where you are required to leave the world behind and find a master/guru and live out the rest of your life eating berries and living off fresh air. Jeez !
