  1. LHBF somewhat deceased thread

Well, I've had confirmation of my theory. I just KNEW there was a connection. My yiquan teacher (who also happens to teach me xingyi), travels regularly to Hong Kong where he learns Han Xingyuan branch of yiquan. The Han brothers were the students who studied the most with the founder of yiquan, Wang Xiangzhai, and their branch is considered pure to the original. So it's held in very high regard. When I mentioned my interest in LHBF he told me what he knows. In Hong Kong, LHBF lineage holder Li Zhong became concerned when he noticed that the pure LHBF form was being diluted with aspects of xingyi, bagua and taiji and wished to restore LHBF back to its original intention. He enlisted the help of yiquan master Han Xingyuan who helped soften the form and to take out the elements of xingyi, bagua and taiji. My teacher then went on to tell me that he has been learning LHBF also and that he would teach me on one condition: That I drop my xingyi altogether and focus solely on LHBF and yiquan. He has himself stopped his own xingyi practice. I've known my teacher for 15 years now and have enormous trust and respect for him. I've enjoyed learning and practicing xingyi but I can definitely see huge benefits in switching to LHBF. So, that's it. A new adventure awaits and I'm looking forward to learning this incredibly beautiful art.

But, but, it MUST be true because I saw it on the interweb. 🙃
  3. The Brexit Thread

Totally agree. There is no such thing as freedom, only the illusion that we have a choice. That's why I've never voted. It makes no difference who's in power at No.10. Whoever ends up in office, is who the one's pulling the strings behind the scenes, have decided to put there. I take it you're familiar with The Kalergi Plan ? This whole scenario's been planned for decades. Perfectly executed. I don't think we'll ever be free from the clutches of these elitist psychopaths.
  4. Abortion

Me neither. The point was about termination of life, NOT the manner in which that life was conceived.
  5. Abortion

I've always been a staunch pro-life anti-abortionist. As someone who has suffered the trauma of my wife having a miscarriage, and having to carry the dead fetus to the hospital, it only strengthened that stance. It is a harrowing experience I would never wish on anyone.

  7. Master Lam's lineage is Yiquan and is the same way I was taught. Feet parallel, shoulder width, pointing straight ahead. That's obviously in the wuji and other health postures. There is absolutely NO focus on qi or dantiens. It's purely body mechanics, physics, posture alignments and relaxation visualizations. The toes inward posture reminds me of wing chun. A lot of stress is put on the knee joint which could have long term consequences.

I have found joeblast to be one of the better members here and his information and experience are solid. But please, joeblast, don't ever wear a wrestling mask. 👹🤼
  9. Long men pai nei gong and mo pai

Sorry but that's not a very convincing argument.
  10. Long men pai nei gong and mo pai

Why does it seem legit ? Is it because he wears a funny hat and Chinese silk pyjamas ? Online Daoist training ??? No wonder the internet is rife with these charlatans when people believe anything. I'm sorry to come off as blunt but I'm extremely skeptical of people selling 'online training'

  12. Tin Yat Dao Sect

Unfortunately this is now the way of the world. There is so much disinformation on the internet, it's frightening. This goes for virtually ANY interest, hobby, religious/spiritual pursuits and pseudoscience.
  13. taoist books on working with the mind ?

Those are the 2 by Liu I would recommend and are the only one's I have. There's enough there for a lifetime.
  14. taoist books on working with the mind ?

    Anything by Liu I Ming.
  15. Nam Myoho Renge Kyo

No problem. Sometimes we get entrenched in our own views and will do anything to protect them. I'm as guilty as anyone in this regard. To the OP : I hope you have good fortune with your practice and that the links I provided will encourage you to inquire further. My own personal path lies in another direction, away from Buddhism, but if you need anything please don't hesitate to ask.
  16. Nam Myoho Renge Kyo

That was not my intention sorry. I was just saying that the hare Krishna mantra has no connection to Nichiren Buddhism. They are two separate traditions and have nothing in common.
  17. Nam Myoho Renge Kyo

That was my point above. The teachings have been distorted by organisations such as SGI. If one was to cultivate authentic Nichiren Buddhism, and for that matter Tientai, one would have a complete system for enlightenment in this life.

https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/buddhism-tiantai/ I would encourage anyone interested in Nichiren Buddhism to research it's roots in Tientai.
  20. Nam Myoho Renge Kyo

A lot of these modern Nichiren organisations such as Soka Gakkai use the chanting for materialistic purposes. Using the daimoku to chant for better jobs, cars, money etc. Rather like magick to try and manifest conditions to acquire 'things'. Obviously, this is NOT Buddhist teachings. If you trace it back to before Nichiren, Lotus Sutra Buddhism was not a standalone form, just like Pure Land. The Japanese reformers of Buddhism were from Tendai which has it's roots in Tientai in China which was a purely monastic movement. It was Nichiren who brought Lotus Sutra Buddhism to the lay population.
  21. Nam Myoho Renge Kyo

Also the daimoku 'Nam Myoho Renge Kyo' can be practiced as a silent mantra, regardless of what sectarian Nichiren Buddhists will tell you. Yes, it's good to have a formal practice in front of an altar and gohonzon which can be vocal, but to try and keep that meditative mindfulness throughout the day, an internal silent repetition can go a long way to deepen your faith, resolve, study and practice. I have also sat in meditation with the daimoku.
