The Prince and the Magician
Marblehead replied to TheSongsofDistantEarth's topic in General Discussion
Yeah. I figured you Buddhists would eventually come in and suggest that my chair is only an illusion. Hehehe. But I can assure you, 'my illusional chair' really exists. There are even some cat claw marks on it verifying the not only the chair exists but also that I have cats who love to scratch up my furniture. BTW I live in the deep south of the US. I have seen some of those repaired chairs. Hehehe. Be well! -

Hehehe. I love my attitude too! Isn't common sense limited to common people? (Herd mentality?) BTW I'm not searching for Truth. Sheeeesssse! I don't even know what Truth and Enlightenment are. Be well! -

Sorry. I don't speak Buddhism. Hehehe. The Mystery (potential everything) is emptiness. The Manifest (the physical universe) is fullness. These two concepts are not dualistic. The two are of the same source - they are simply different aspects of the All (Tao). Everything matters but nothing matters. It is only (in my opinion) when we are fully immersed in both the Mystery and the Manifest simultaeously that we experience Tao. It is then that we realize that everything matters but that nothing matters. Be well! -

Ah! But I love the reality I have created for myself! As long as I am in "my space" my reality applies. When I leave "my space" all the other's realities need be considered. Truth? What's that? I, personally, have no idea. (Well, except for things like when I sit at the computer the truth that my chair exists has always been proven to be true.) Yes, I have created my own reality. No, I'm not delusional. I know that my reality applies to me only. Others have their own reality. (Some are delusional too!!!!!) Be well! -

Hey! I'm not even sure what enlightenment is so I have no idea if it is something I would want. (But I do know how to live. That's important too.) Be well! Hi King, My compliments to you! BTW I still use legal tobacco and coffee. Be well! Been there, done that. Yeah, it was kinda' wierd. Be well! -

Isn't simultanious emptiness and fullness what nonduality is all about? Be well! -

But then this is why the world remained flat for so many years. 'Tis true that we create our own reality. But then, if we only listen to what others say we will never know for sure, will we? There truely is a manifest reality out there, regardless of what anyone says. We can either stay home and be another herd animal or we can jump in a boat and explore for ourself. Oh, sure, we might fall off the edge of their flat earth but that doesn't really matter - maybe there is an island of paradise out there waiting for me. Be well! -
Hi Michael, Excellent observation. And what you said above is exactly why America (and some European countries) is now a counrty based on the "service" industry as opposed to the "manufacturing" industry, the industry that allow American to become the most powerful nation on the planet. There really are very few things "Made In The USA" anymore. Even the auto industry is falling to external forces. Yeah, we can still send rockets into outer space. Big deal. This is where Rome was at the beginning of its fall. But back to the water car. Or even the electric car. These things can become reality - there is no doubt in my mind. Consider the Tesla again. A 244 mile range on a full charge. What if that paint job was capable of collection solar radiation and converting it into electricity to charge the batteries during day-light hours? What if the motion of the vehicle could be captured and converted into electricity (a form of wind power)? What if the wheels were connected to generators to produce electricity? Hey, we don't even repair most theings in the US anymore. When something breaks we throw it away and buy a replacement. Be well!

Okay. So my prediction is coming true. There will soon be a hydrogen car. We'll see how Mike does. Be well!

Hi TheSongsofDistantEarth, Nice little story. I had not read it before. And, I really don't read much of that stuff anymore. When I was a teenager (a long time ago) I used to read a lot of Greek Mythology. Be well! -

Very important concept, I think: Accept the present moment doesn't mean "put up with a painful life situation because you need to learn to accept it". Be well! -
Hi ~jK~, Welcome! May you enjoy your time here. Sad about geocities. While it is true that there is a lot of junk there, there is also a lot of very good and valuable information. Be well!

Nice. Be well!

Nice. Now that is very Taoist (using Bugghist words). That is basically what I have been trying to say in Findley's two threads. Yes, I confess! I don't read much Buddhists literature. Be well!
-
That is soooo unBuddhist and unTaoist. Be well!
-
Well Satori, I do have to disagree with your thread title although you do make a valid point in the body of the thread opening post. Be well!
-
Hi Findley, I would like to suggest that whenever you give attention to anything for the purpose of attaining wu wei you will be restricting your own progress. Wu wei is attained through an empty mind. Be well!

I have faith in the greed of man. Hehehe. Be well! Thanks Froggie, I wasn't offended. Fact is, the oil companies are getting their fingures into alternative energy. They know that one day their oil will not be needed as much as it is now. They want to share in the profits of the future. Be well!

I think that the key to adulthood (both men and women) is in taking full responsibility for all your own actions. Be well!

I'm still listening to the Faces. I didn't get enough yesterday. Be well!

The hydrogen car is coming. It is just a matter of refining the technology. And when the time is right 'big oil' will not be able to do anything about it. (But they will probably have their hands all over it.) Be well!

Hi Erdrickgr, Welcome! May you enjoy your time here. Yes, I am sure you will find more answers here than you have questions. But that's good. That way you will have various choices. Be well!

I believe you have a proper understanding. Be well! Action with intent is not wu wei. Be well!
