  1. Why do you think it's "deadly" important?
  2. Are You "Light" Enough?

If i were you i'd get the version by Mantak Chia. It's probably explained very well and easily understandable in there. I haven't read it but everything he writes is like gold
  3. Difficult situation...

I have had a different but kind of similar kind of situation. I chose to stay with the girl. I really like the girl. I haven't found another girl that i like this much since i was 16 years old - now i'm 27. I figure it could be a long time before i find another girl i like as much as this one, maybe too late. It's not easy to just find another girl. I want to be with someone who i really love and makes me feel awesome. Most girls don't do that. It does cause some trouble with the other bloke being around and i don't like it. It's not perfect, but what relationship is. At least the bloke doesn't try to get her away from me and i trust her in that way.
  4. Are You "Light" Enough?

You got that from the book of changes? From my readings of these types of texts it seems not like that at all. The small things have a cumunalitive (spelling wrong i know) effect. The great wall was began with 1 brick, to walk to the top of the mountain took many small steps etc. The light things can add up and be much more potent than the heavy things.
  5. Bad habits

The old... do it as much as you can today and stop the day after is the worst way... just one more If you want to stop you should stop right now. Don't put it off to another day. I think don't let the thought enter your mind or get it out as soon as you can while it's still a baby. The more it revolves around your head the more energy and power that thought will get and then you wont be able to resist. I have thoughts that build up for days finally i can't resist. Keep dealing and clearing the thoughts out often so its still managable. Be active, and keep your mind occupied on something else. Any mind game that works
  6. Some advice for my situation!

The advise i would say is. If your worried about polluted air going in your lungs while ur meditating go to a different place. If your only doing short breaths then you are tense. If your worried about effects on your health you can't be relaxed. If it's easily avoidable avoid it, if not then ignore the pollution- you can't do anything else? Don't worry about it, just do something about it if you can. Thats all you can do Yeah well this would make sense to me too. What i find is really strange is that here in china everyone ALWAYS wears footware. If you take your slippers off and a chinese can see they will gasp and fuss until you put them back on. I always walk around barefoot in my own house it's much more comfortable. I'm lucky enough to have wood floors though, i think wearing barefoot on concrete is not healthy.
  7. I've found some of my own rules you might say during my own practice. Some could be.. 1) Don't try too hard. Let it do it's self. Definately don't force it, thats going backwards. 2) Give your body enough sleep and rest 3) Do some physical activity. 4) Listen to yourself, if it feels wrong, don't keep doing it. Don't keep "testing" it to see if the result changes any. If you do you'll get hurt. 5) I can't practice before bed or it's too hard to sleep. 6) Do your practice in a way that fits in with what's around you. Don't be ridged and devise everything around it, it's easier and better to change the way you do things to fit in with the environment. 7) Try not to be too serious about it. Don't get down on myself for not practicing or eating unhealthy food or anything i've done to stray from the straight and narrow. Is this what you mean?
  8. I don't know about life anymore

Perfect answer for you. Do what i did. Come to China, if u got a credit card u can use that for ur 1 way ticket. Get a job as an English teacher, no experience required. Work 16 hours a week, get 10,000 rmb a month (Their usual salary is 2000 a month) so you literally are rich here for bugger all work. you'll even get a free apartment and they will refund you your plane ticket money back. Plus you'll get 2-3 months paid holidays. You'll have so much time to cultivate it will be comming out of your ears. You can even go practice tai qi or yoga with many good teachers here or learn a new language. Everything is cheap and anything you want to do you can easily afford, plus you'll have enough money to easily save, much more than you would in America. Of course it's not all rosey here and i want to go back to Australia now myself after nearly 2 years but the first 3 months here rocked If you want help finding a good job PM me
  9. SLEEP...WHO NEEDS IT?

I need sleep and rest. If i dont' have enough of either my practice suffers. Qi becomes hotter, not soft and weaker.A couple of good nights sleep to catch up, my qi is stronger, smoother, is fuller with a wider spectrum and i feel HAPPY! Everythings easy when you're rested, everythings an effort when you're tired. If i run without good sleep it's a struggle. When i run after good sleep it's like running down hill, just one leg infront of the other, so easy
  10. Who is trained in Micro Cosmic Orbit?

Many people will say things like this, and it could well be right but it's not important at all if you want results. To me this stuff might be real but very theoretical, not practical. You don't need to know how or why it happens, only that it happens, and the only way to do it is through practice, then it will reveal it's self so you can understand. Until then you can only TRY to understand, you never can. Eventually MCO will move it's self. You don't need to do anything, you just sit, relax and watch it go around. You surrender your head thoughts and just let your body operate on it's own. When you do healing sounds, after you get better you don't use your head to do the meditations, you let each organ do it on it's own. It has it's own intelligence, it knows what to do and is the most efficent at doing it by it's self, you just need to let it and not interfere with your head brain. Later (who knows if i'm doing it right? ) but instead of watching MCO go around it changes from like a ball going around to the whole thing like a hose and filled with water and going around. You can put lots of energy in... the energy needs to move the MCO is just a way of keeping the energy in your body. You could circulate it any way but MCO is easiest and most natural. When you have enough energy all your other channels will open you needn't do anything other than bring in as much energy as possible to your dantien, then let it do it's self and flow around all chanels simultaiusly. Now i don't even see it go around, everything is speeding so fast - i have zero thoughs, just aware of it all. You don't have to see all the qi moving where and how all so close up, u just know it's happening. Just spend time practicing, but not too hard
  11. Why do you believe in qi?

I know qi exists because: 1. a qigong healer on ripply's belive it or not made steam come off a wet towel using only his hands. The towel was around 90 degrees celcius. You can find the video on utube somewhere. Master jo is his name i think. This was under test conditions so it can't be faked. 2. i have felt my masters qi come out of his body and come into my body. 2 people experiencing the same thing shows me it exists. 3. I have felt another healer put qi into my head and so further leads me to believe it exists. 4. Many very big businesses use feng shuai. I know enough to know that big buisinesses don't waste money on things that are not useful. 5. i've seen a man make a massive church bell ring from about 15 meters away using only the chi in his voice. No matter how hard the wind blows it won't ring. It has to be from qi. I have 'felt' my own chi but to me this does not prove it exists. Even though it seems real it could be just my imagination. But the above points prove to me beyond any doubt it is real.
  12. I know the body is amazing in it's ability to heal its self but i wonder about holes in your teeth? I believe it is possible. Theres alot of people here into all different types of health therapies etc, i wonder if anyone has has any experiences with dental cavities? Do you consider yourself very healthy? Have you had dental cavities repair themselves? Do you continue to get cavities despite your best health promoting efforts? I know in old times if you were to buy a slave you'd check his teeth as they would be good indicators of how healthy they were. No point buying a slave that died on you early!
  13. Alcohol since we can remember

... (i have to get the last word)
  14. Alcohol since we can remember

No a smoker wouldn't understand. But you a non-smoker would
  15. Alcohol since we can remember

HAHAHAHAH I WILL LAUGH BECAUSE IT'S SOOOOOOOOOO FUNNY! This is the second person to take it so seriously. What i wrote is absolutely rediculous of course.... it was mean as a light hearted joke! (Do you really think i'm so stupid to think that putting fat in your heart and veins is good?!?!) 2 people have taken it seriously i can't believe it, especially in a forum designed for meditation discussion where we are not supposed to be serious and be as fun and playful as possible. This is the exact reason why you need to take a day off meditation, booze up, have a big fat ciggarette, eat that juicy kabab and relax so you aren't so uptight and gain insight and the ability to see the funny side of things. But i know some people are far too 'clever' to need that and thats why my advise will fly straight over your head Maybe one day when you are old something stupid will really make you laugh, you'll feel great, then you'll think back to your younger days and realise how many good times and good laughs you missed out on. Then you'll think 'hmmm.... those guys on taobums had a point'. Hopefully you realisation becomes sooner rather than later so you can get the most out of your life Meantime i'm sorry but i just have to laugh at those serious peoples expense
  16. Alcohol since we can remember

Buddy, you're talking about something i believe you have no clue about. From your posts it sounds like you've read 1 book, you've got some "insight" from the book that you thought was really clever and you learnt alot from it and now you think you know it all. Good for you i'm happy for you, but don't feel the need to pressure everyone to read a book that they're not even interested in reading. Maybe you should save some of your "kindness" energy of trying to stop people smoking (who it seems don't want your help) and deal with some of your own problems (i'm sure you have one or two ) Perhaps not forcing this book down every smokers throat and having some more tolerance for smoking -- we already don't smoke anywhere indoors for people like you That sounds like a typical personal example of someone who is paranoid about what the others of doing. You won't buy something because of some business tactics. Why not select something on your own thoughts or feelings rather than because of what the others are doing? I know my body, i'd trust myself with it. It's just not something that i want to try. It's not instantly addictive. You've been educated by the media. You have no real knowledge or understanding of things through personal experience. You'd do great living here in china. The perfect citizen. Because we've got better things to do with our time? I can see the gleam in your eye as you write your posts, thinking that you're so clever and we are so dumb. Maybe your right. We are ALL dumb and YOU are so clever. very correct!
  17. Circumcision and qi

Any religion that makes me want to self mutilate myself like that is not something i want to be a part of!!!
  18. Knee problems..

I have chinese tai chi teacher in china and he says the popping is bad. In my experienced the more popping you get more more you will get it in the future. To reduce popping i try to change my action slightly also try to use my mind, imagine as i'm doign the movement that it's going very smoothly without any popping, after a few times it really starts working as i'm imagining Your knee exercises are good. I've done the myself for a while. My tai chi style is very low and hard on the knees. Guys who have been doing it for years still get sore tendons on the knees. I guess it's slow strengthening up. Few girls said after about 2 years they feel fine and doesn't hurt any more. They practice every day though!
  19. Alcohol since we can remember

The smoking / drinking combo can actually be great for your health. Smoking helps you lose weight, by slowly pulling the fat out of your belly etc and into your heart/veins. Then you drink alcohol which thins the blood so that it can still run freely through your veins. Thats why you NEED both =] I get all out trashed from time to time. It's great. It's the biggest adventure, i feel so happy, meet heaps of new people am super sociable and makes for a most memorable night (at least the first half . Theres nights i've had drinking lots of alcohol that have been unforgettable and there have been meditation experiences that have been unforgettable. Alcohol give you the fun straight away, then you pay for it the next couple of days. Deep meditation you have to pay for it the first few days by sitting doing nothing, then you get the cool experiences. They're kind of like opposites in this way i feel. If you have a real bad day feel sad or whatever, ur mates come around and get drunk and you go out and have a good dance your not feeling bad any more. Maybe the next day you have a headache but you aren't thinking about whatever made you sad before, and even though alcohol hasn't fixed the problem it's at least a day and a half away from what happened after by the time you recovered and u're halfway over it already. It's another winding course, a different path - perhaps even quicker and more direct Alot of people say it's ok if you have 1-2 beers with some friends but that just makes me feel crap. Then i DO have a desire for more. I'll save up all those 1-2 beers untill i got 15 then use em all at once and have a decent crack where i can enjoy myself. 1-2 beers isn't fun at all i'd rather none. Smoking is not fun at the start? (someone said?) If it wasn't fun at the start why have so many people started smoking... it's not just because of the marketing material, it's because it's fun! If you've smoked a pack a day for 10 years then its hard to breath it's not fun any more, or when ur dying cos u don't have one it's not fun. But if you can smoke here and there i think it's great. Can sort out many problems in your life at some emotional time, give you a 'breath of fresh air' in a moody moment to say what is best to say and save yourself some future burden. Also half the reason people think it's bad is because of all the marketing material telling you it was bad. I wonder if a higher percentage of smokers have died from cigarettes since all the advertising about how bad it is... all the extra guilt smokers face when they have a cig, and the mind over matter thing, them thinking it's really bad! It is bad, but not as bad as it's made out to be. Especially for low smokers 2-3 a day even i think is ok. I'd love that much but i only have 1-2 smoking nights a month due to my nagging wife I think people on the spiritual path are quicker to realise it than anyone else. I know when i drink... if i'm meditating alot sometimes it can set me back 4-5 days and my tight muscle tightens up more for a couple of days... but it's still worth it. I'm not deluded i know what it does to me but i weigh up the pros and cons and it is worth it to me. Nobody should judge others and feel they are superiour because they don't drink or smoke. They're probably sitting at the computer stuffing themselves with macdonnalds. And the person on the 'perfect' diet with the perfect exercise and meditation schedule who never lets themselves have any desire so they can never be dissapointed if it's taken off them -- In my opionion should loosen up. Relax and live a little. Theres so many great things around i want to try them ALL if they are good or bad for me. As long as i dont' get stuck only on any single 1 then i think they're all great. Depriving yourself of pleasure i don't belive is the way of the TAO, it's embracing and bathing and tasting all life has to offer. To do so one can learn so much more. You can smoke occational cigarrettes for enjoyment, that why at all. Why occational? so you don't become addicted. Why never in my life did i decide to have an owl as my TaoBums picture but you did/do Reading a book about smoking addiction and thinking your an expert on the subject is silly. One persons opinion in 1 book is not a definative answer. I'm well aware how the brain works on addictions of all kinds from first hand experience. Sometimes life can be too perfect that you sit still and don't want change. This in it's self for too long is not healthy.
  20. I want to be able to fly, walk through walls, see through girls clothes and get to 500kgs with my qi weight lifting. Thank god i've been making lots of progress i'm almost there I think if you try to acheive things u'll never get there. If the dao needs you to do it you can do it. Equally though, there are many psychic abilities i'm sure everyone has already, they just need to try and believe. I've seen auras, felt peoples organs and emotions as they've felt them and been able to feel some injury of others in my own body. I was meditating very heavily at the time and i couldn't automatically have these feelings i had to have the imagination to look. Look for the aura, connect to the others and feel your organ energy change. Sometimes i look for it and are surprised that sure enough it's there. Other times i look and look but i can't see anything. I mean even when i can see auras it doesn't mean very much, i don't know what colour means what. I can see some bigger or brighter than others and guess some other things but i don't know how correct it is. I guess thats why we need science connected with meditation
  21. Microcosmic Orbit method

I've had my MCO open for about 2 years. Having it open is not hard at all just put a little bit of work into it. First it's only very small amount of energy, u can barely feel, later it will become huge like a firetruck waterhose. Shortcut is practice, but u don't have to stop everything to practice. Practice your inner smile all day every spare moment or while ur doing anything. Not intesely if you can't just a little bit. Just smile on ur face if thats all u can do. Within 2 weeks u will be alright at it guarenteed. Now u can feel chi, just circlulate it around. Lead it around but dont' force it or the qi quality will change, and u don't want that forced qi feeling. You're being too serious. Where your energy 'needs to be'. Meditation is about relaxing, trying different things. The more you practice the more u will get better but u can practice many different things. MCO is important but equally is the inner smile. With the inner smile u really FEEL the qualitys of different energies in every different way possible. The fusion practices then just become a piece of cake. Use inner smile to build ur energy and MCO to circulate. If u're circulating a droplet of water ur not going to get very far. If you circulate a steaming fireball theres no way ur MCO can stay closed, the energy needs somewhere to go. Get inner smile working good first. After a month of practice including 2 weeks all day during other tasks i had enough energy that was more intense feeling than a drug IV. The feeling builds up over a period of days, every day stronger. Then u just got to contain it and put it in a ball what i find takes a bit of sitting still meditation practice. But at this stage u'll know ur well on ur way and u'll have the motivation to spare half hr or so for it Don't worry about if ur doing it right or not just practice, make descisions as to what you think is right. You can always change your mind later. And dont' wory you're not going to send yourself to a mental hospital from practice. If u start feeling uncomfortable stop practice for a bit then try a different way of doing things.
  22. Microcosmic Orbit method

I don't think it takes 2 years to get the microcosmic orbit working. If it takes you 2 years i think something is wrong with your method. If you start with the inner smile and do that for 2 weeks and you really want to make progress try to do it all thought the day any time u can remember and u'll get better at it real fast. A secret is to 'double' the feeling and double it again over and over, it will soon become very intense after a couple of weeks. THE THING TO REMEMBER AT THIS STAGE: It's your body, you're in control u can make it do anything u want. U can percieve anything you want. Just think it's all chemicals in your body and u are the chemist. start trying to feel the feelin you want and you'll feel it. Later on u won't try at all it will automatically be there. People say u shouldn't try to feel something let it happen on it's own and let it come. But i find its better if you try to feel, then let the feeling come, and let your feeling that you then have go where you want it to go. It's getting the chi going from both sides yin & yang Then trying to compress the energy into a ball takes some effort but after 4 days or so of daily practice u should have a decent ball. Then just try starting to circulate it around your body point by point. Clean out each section. I think an important thing is that people always think 'i'm not ready for the next stage'. I say just go for it. If u got a grip on how to do step 1 then go on to step 2. Just because u haven't been practicing for a month like the book says it doesn't matter, just go on to the next one. If you can't do anything in the next stage then go back and practice some more. As u get better all the stages just blend into all 1 and the same thing pretty much anyway so you don't need to do any of the stages your just already at the end. The stages only serve to get you to the next step of the practice so finally you get to the end point of where you want to be without even realising it. Your so busy trying to get the next step that you finally realise shit i'm already there and where 'there' is, is nothing to do with the step that your actually doing! Main thing is just practice. People might say an hour a day or something but if u can have 5+ hours a day for 2 days over a weekend and continue with ur 1 hour a day you'll improve immensely. If u do 1 hour most of the time is spent doing something with the energy and you only get a tiny bit of time to sit in the stillness. This is a very important part of practice. Don't choose to do too much energy work without sitting in the stillness at the end, its probably the most important part! Something else important.... DON'T TRY just DO. Don't try to make it happen, Realise it already is!
  23. Maoist exercise routine?

They also do eye exercises 2-3 times a day for 5 minutes inbetween classes. They massage certain accupuncture points around the eyes to relax them. Asian eyes are terrible, it's not because their eyes can't open far enough it's cos they study so damn much and never give their eyes time to relax! Also most of the companys have exercises for employees too. You'll see them all stand up in lines out the front of their company doing some weird dance movements or something. Especially hairdressers. Some of the things these companies make them do is rediculous, imagine having to do a much more wacked out version of the macarina dance before work every morning. They know everyones looking at them and alot of them feel like idiots doing it it's easy to see. I feel for em!
  24. In my experience too much gym is not good for your energy work. When your MCO is open it's like the river is flowing, when u exercise it builds up the banks of the river and makes a strong riverbed, strenthening the flow of your chi. If you build up too much muscle the banks of the river become too big and the energy flow is more easily blocked. It's a balance between waterflow current and tightening the river to increase the energy. Also gym only strengthens you in certain directions... the ways in which you lift the weights. If you do some different angle you aren't as strong. if you do some natural actions your body will become more strong in natural movements. I've never done cattle bells but i think these would be great because ur swinging them around, not just an up down movement. But to your original question, u need external exercises along with ur internal work, they go hand in hand and u'll benefit 10 fold than if you only practice internal or external alone.
  25. Do you meditate / Practice Daily

I think daily practice is very important but i think you need to live your life too. For me if i don't have a good sleep i feel much worse than if i don't meditate so i think you need to weigh up what is best. I can even have a better state of mind by missing a meditation session and going for a run or doing some cardio exercises. I usually wake up earlier in the morning and dont' want to wake up my wife since i'm only living in a tiny 1br apartment so i just lay in bed and do a bit of practice before i get up. Or if i'm on the bus or waiting in a line or even just walking down the street i can slip in a bit of practice. Its not nearly as good as sitting and meditating for an hr or 2 and u don't get the same feeling but it can stop you slipping back in practice and something is always better than nothing. Even if that day nothing is working for you and you feel a bit dissapointed because you suck in your practice for some reason that day, just practicing for 5-10 mins before cracking the shits then leaving it is better than not practicing at all (I know you're not all buddas and have never stopped meditation cos u felt fustrated . It keeps you there. I think in a perfect world i could commit myself to a perfect practice, or where meditation fitted into my lifestyle it would be good, but you're life isn't always the same, it's not always the same routine and so you don't always have the chance to practice how much you'd like. However after saying all that, having a few short 'in between' practice days or even missing a couple of total days practice has actually helped me more than 1 time. Practicing lots daily might help you improve in leaps and bounds but only in the same direction, then suddenly if you don't try so much and miss a day you suddenly get some insight into some other possibility and something else to try Also i wonder if anyone else has the problem where they know they will feel much better after meditation, and they know they should do it but they always put it off. Of course when u finally do it you feel better but u subconsiously try to find something else to do first. It's like not doing ur assignment early and leaving it till the last minute. Unless i'm practicing very heavily for some time i always get this occurance
