  1. Glad you are having a good time with your practice, man. You are right on.

Also, please keep the details of the Red Phoenix practice to yourself.

    Will do Chris!

Disclaimer; Please don't try to practice the Red Phoenix from my very incomplete description. It will only result in your head exploding. :o And, as far as I know, chicks don't dig that. It will be difficult to get or keep a job, too. And your drivers licence will be revoked. You can't read or anything. No more posting on the tao bums. You'll just sit there. Maybe, just maybe, you can still practice kunlun. I don't know. You'll have to ask Max.

  2. Bindu,

Your assessment is interesting but not really accurate.

Max's disciple Mantra said himself that he was shocked that Max taught Red Phoenix at Level One workshop.

He said ARMIES DIED for the practice.

I am just giving my 2 cents..and what I went through the last 6 weeks was a WILD RIDE. There were moments I really felt afraid that I was losing my sanity.

I am feeling a little better now but still feel my position is the better way to go.

I hear ya, man! This is a powerful practice, no doubt. It shouldn't be put in the hands of boneheads trying to get off on some natural high, and probably shouldn't be practiced without also practicing kunlun. I'm taking it real slow with this practice, about five minutes at a time.

The way Max described it, you should be very calm and relaxed, and feel the cool, misty energy moving. I only do it every other breath. I feel the energy move thru a very thin pathway, very gently and slowly. The image of a single rain drop on a window, slowly sliding down, comes to mind.

I think if people follow Max's directions and use some common sense, there shouldn't be too many casualties. There are always going to be exceptions, like yourself, when doing energy practices. Especially in the head. For me, the closing procedure for the Red Phoenix seems more important than for Kunlun. I also suspect some people will bring in way too much energy from outside their head, either from a misunderstanding of the practice or unintentionally.

So, you're right, proceeding with caution is necessary, but I wouldn't go so far as to call Max irresponsible for teaching it.

  3. I hope this is viewed in the spirit of wanting to help make sure the material is presented in the best possible way.

I highly respect Chris and Max. I think the work that they are doing has the potential to create some real positive change in people.

So, with that in mind, I want to create a thread where we can discuss how Kunlun One Workshop might be improved.

So far, it sounds like the response has been mostly positive overall. I know the LA workshop was very powerful. I certainly was moved by it.

But here is MY take on how the material should be presented.

Again, I don't know if this is the right way. All I know is from what I have experienced and my limited understanding of awakening this would be the way to go.

    1. Kunlun Level One should focus on just that..Kunlun Level One. We have 2 days. I would say day One should be devoted to Kunlun and Day two devoted to "close down".

If standing practice is included in that fine. My feeling is devoting the first day to Kunlun and 2nd say to close down is enough.

I would even say just SITTING IN SILENCE for an hour and have Max guide us through "close down" would be good.

    2. Don't teach sexual practices at Level one. Explain to people sexual energy can be very volitile if there channels arent open and that they should practice Kunlun for atleast a month before drawing sexual energy up the spine. Also..cover the reality people may have serious emotional issues that need to be worked out and in that case they SHOULD NOT DRAW JING UP THE SPINE PERIOD.

    3. Do not teach Red Phoenix until after people have practiced Kunlun for atleast 1 year.

    That's my 2 cents.

For me, the seminar was just right. If they teach too little, people will feel cheated and they will stop showing up. It's difficult to teach this kind of thing because people are at different levels of understanding and have different motivations for learning kunlun.

Everyone can make their own personal adjustments after the seminar. Max has taught these practices to many, many people and I'm sure he's received a lot of feedback. I don't understand all of the "second guessing" going on here. As for the Red Phoenix, I don't have a problem with it being taught right away.

It seems like a variation of a very old practice that has been taught openly for a long time. And again, don't you think Max would know, with all of his knowledge and experience, if this practice is too "dangerous" to teach openly?

Imagine hiking around Wudang shan in ancient China when you stumble across an old Taoist Master, with obvious abilities, who promises to teach you a powerful secret qigong technique. So he teaches you and afterwards you say something like;"Ya know, Mr. Master Sir, I think if you would cut that part out, and add a little more of this..." C'mon! ;)

    Vortex; well said!

  4. In the interests of brevity I won't quote from teachers and texts, though I will on request.

The tail end of this thread is basically about this:

They've got something I haven't got and I want it, and I want someone to tell me that I can take it on my own terms.

Pero has been quite clear that you can't take it on your own terms, stating without obfuscation or hair splitting:

The tantric and dzogchen traditions state explicitly that formal initiation/introduction from a living and realised lineage holder is required to practice in these traditions and use their methods - anything else just doesn't cut it.

Of course with the published texts the cat is out the bag now and no one has to accept the traditions within their own terms of reference - but they do so at their own risk.

No one with experience of the six yogas will write of their experiences on a public forum as they're bound under oath not to.

what if someone received the initiation/transmission in a past life?

  5. You are right, I was thinking 'creepy' when I said 'uncanny'. SFQ certainly has given me a sense of wellbeing but I guess I was ignoring that and looking for something more sensational, generating some thumping, bliss etc.

Today was even better, I was sitting and doing the small universe and all of a sudden the ground shook. I was wondering whether it was a 'spiritual experience' and then did I realize it was an earthquake!! Still trying to get out of the jolt...wooooo

I felt it too! I'm in marin county. I was reading this forum when it happened. Whole lotta shakin' goin on!

  6. Yep likewise ! :)

Did anyone tried this system out or ever bought the course online ?

Also when meditation in movement was mentioned above i thought of sumthing else i read about here on the forum: the running meditation .. about keep running hours on an end in a meditative state. A shamanistic practice i dunno ?

Wanted to ask if anyone knows more about this practice also ?

Max taught it at the kunlun seminar. You stand on your toes with your heels touching and your hands over head in a particular mudra while activating the kunlun energy. He said the Taoists used it to run 200 miles in a night. This ability is also mentioned in Opening The Dragon Gate.

  7. I guess if studying other literature can help me absorb what's in the Tao Te Ching, it might be good to branch out a little,

My understanding of Taoism improved a great deal from studying the works of Sri Aurobindo. And he is one of the greatest masters of the english language, also.

  8. Since it seems like "My Favorite Lama" week, my recommendation for this week is Lama Somananda Tantrapa......................Lama Tantrapa teaches a sort of free form Qigong called Qi Dao which has shamanic influences.................I am currently awaiting his book and dvd which has gotten positive reviews by a lot of the heavy hitters in the chi-biz......................................His website is:www.qidao.org

I stumbled across this website yesterday. What can you tell us about this guy's book, top-hat? Anybody?

  9. It was an inner confirmation for me that what Max was teaching was authentic and that I should continue to pursue it. Craig

    I agree!

It's not clear in my post, but this didn't happen while practicing kunlun. It happen shortly after I had gone to bed. Also, there was a pulsing energy, or else it was a single drumbeat. I couldn't tell!

BTW..like Smile says whether those sorts of things are real or illusion you still don't attach to them.

Actually Sifu Max mentioned something about this in LA..something about if you see some sort symbol from Egypt(was either Eye of Horus or Tear of Ra or something) that you shouldn't attach to that.

Or Tutenkamen or Pharoah or any of the "Old School" Egyptian Masters or whatever.

    -Acolyte

Yeah. Experiences don't mean a whole lot unless they change you in some way.

  10. Mother Meera! What's she up to these days?

Mother Meera has visited the U.S. the last two years. My brother and his wife went to see her in L.A. a few months back. He said it was beautiful. She said it was life changing.

  11. For a few days now, I have been asking the Kunlun Masters to help me open to the kunlun energy, and to guide me in my practice. Two days ago I began seeing, in my third eye, Taoists watching me as I practiced and giving me energy. Last night I did Kunlun before I went to bed, and as I got to the half awake, half asleep state, they dropped by for a visit! Words cannot describe what happened, but it was a beautiful experience and a confirmation of the practice and Max's transmission.

  12. I meant that ideally the process takes 1.5 hours. 10 minutes to sit down get the visualization going, 1 hr of actual Kunlun, then 20 min of cooldown/dan-tien posture. I have never made a full hour yet, my shoulder usually gives out between 30 and 45 minutes. I recently had surgery on my ankle and have been unable to practice for a bit, hopefully I'll be able to get a few minutes in tomorrow morning.

Anyone have any ideas about a less than 1 hour Kunlun posture requiring less than 20 min cool down?

I'm wandering what Max had to say about the cool down period, at the other seminars. I was at the SF seminar and he really didn't say much about it. It even seemed a little hurried in my opinion. He only mentioned bringing the energy down to your belly and yet, in the book, he says it is the most important part of the practice. Sup wit dat?

  13. Can you give more info about the spirit travel he teaches ? Is it a kind of meditation ? is it step by step ? need enough energy before practising it ?

    Dunno, cheers :)

The spirit travel practice uses a certain mudra with the pinky fingers extended, while sitting or laying down, and then you concentrate on the tips of pinkies. You can hold your arms in two different positions. Another way, the faster way, is to also raise your heals off the ground and "look" thru your wisdom eye at the tips of your little fingers.

  14. read through the site. william rand's search is about as legit as it gets. most of the truth about the art that began to surface in the 90's came from him and his friends and students.

Bill Rand was my reiki teacher way back in '89' I believe.

  15. You misunderstand me Rabbit. No hostility here. I've scrolled beyond my tolerance for such activity...the results of which have borne my last post. Should I be misinformed in the supposition of said post, then please, show me the courtesy of informing me of such by referring me to these personal experiences of which you refer.

Lest mr. mantra think this a reprieve, my question remains, what have you to say for your own experience?

    Love (gives freely).

    xeno

You make it difficult to know where you're coming from, or even what you are asking exactly. His experience with practicing what Max is teaching? Sorry if i misunderstood your previous posts. :D

  16. You've not answered my question.

Talk about wearying posts... :P Sounds like you're trying to start some shit. Max has lead an interesting life and I want to hear all about it. Max isn't going to post here, so Chris is the next best thing. Why is that a problem?

Just don't click on the topics with the words Lama Dorje, Kunlun, or Max Christensen and it will be like it doesn't even exist. It's that simple.

  17. i just got back home from the SF workshop.

it's about 11:50am, so the workshop is actually still going on. *hint*

i need to rest up for a little bit, do some writing, and catch up with my students.

then i will give my honest take of Max's skill and the methods and all that good stuff.

I just got back from the SF seminar. LOVED IT! I'm already thinking about going to an L.A. seminar.

Hundun, you left too early, brother. We learned how to travel out of the body and meet other teachers and masters, how to run really fast, and how to test if we are grounded enough.

Yesterday I felt like the earth was shakin', and today I feel light as a feather.

It's a very laid back atmosphere and everyone was really nice. Max is real easy going and open to answering everyone's questions. It was great to meet Chris, he's got some strong energy! The mighty Kan is way cool. Poor guy got thrown against the wall at least a few times. And Lilli, who I exchanged emails with quite a few times trying to get the seminar organized, was very nice and friendly. And Richard, who had a smile on his face the entire time, is a great guy. Not to mention our Tao bum brother, Todd.

We learned a great set of standing postures to improve the health of each of the organ systems. The first day we held all the postures for five minutes. I worked up a sweat like I just ran 10 miles! Great workout.

The Kunlun practice, of course. Many had some kind of opening today. Lots of laughter, yelping, a few screams, some yelling. One woman spoke in tongues a little bit.

And Red Phoenix. A more passive practice where you feel energy moving between two points in your head.

Everything was geared towards awakening on a spiritual level. Max has a lot of energy, couldn't be friendlier, and seems to really enjoy sharing his knowledge and experience with others. I could listen to him speak for days on end.

Here's a helpful hint; during break times, don't wander away for too long. Some of the most interesting things Max said were during the breaks when he walks around talking to people, answering questions.

As for Max's abilities, I believe they are real. You'll see him demonstrate on Kan, and Mari if she's there. It's as if a bolt of lightening is passing thru their bodies.

One more thing. If you want a one on one session with Max, sign up as soon as possible. I, unfortunately, waited till saturday to make an appointment and his schedule was already full. Kan and Richard also do healing work on a donation basis. And Diana does energy field clearing on a sliding scale basis.
