  1. finishing qi gong

When I was studying hunyuan qigong we were told to always return the qi to lower dantien by placing the hands on it gently and bringing the mind to DT to lead the qi there. This was done until a feeling of settling occurs. The reason given was that when practicing qigong the mind has opened the body to absorb qi from your surroundings, and this closing was done to make sure you return to normal life. Passing by a sneezing and sick friend while in a mode of absorbing qi from around you is a great way to absorb energy you dont want. Thus the closing technique was done after every qigong session. [i asked a very similar questin a while ago and about the kun lun practices. Can anyone tell me where to find copies of manuals, etc that outline how to do these practices? (kun lun) I tried to do 100 days of no spillage but at around day 28 I got violently ill, vomiting, fever, etc. I tried again 1 year later with the same effects. As such I want to find more information on the practice and practices that involve this so I can be sure that third time works without the illness. Please Help
  4. Hello all, I am still lurking as a newbie here on taobums and am looking for some more explanatory info. Many people are cultivating using various systems, but I am having trouble finding these systems in publication anywhere. Anyone have any links to some of them? I want to buy some detaailed info... Kunlun? Mo Pai? ANYTHING???? Thanks...

  6. t'ai chi, qigong, health, longevity....

I don't know what kind of comments on taiji you are looking for but I have practiced taiji for about 12 years now after building on a previous decade of external Chinese arts. I have been lucky enough to have a couple of really great teachers help me and have had some really great results. In a way this is what brought me to this forum as many of taiji lineages teach about qi, qigong and the like but are very non specific when it comes to some of the results. I am seeking a higher attainment then I already have spiritually and through my taiji practice I must say some things have become much clearer. Connecting the body physically with the qi and dantien, exploring the dantien itself and its inner workings; Manifesting qi to the various parts of the body. Qi gong healing as a natural result from the training, a calmer mind form the constant focus and meditative aspect of the training. Many things... I would heartily say practice your taiji even alone if you have no teacher. Learn the rules and the ways of the art through books or video's or forums whatever. Then practice and try to achieve carefully. If you always question your ability you will always be aware of the ego and your own failings. The art is so difficult there is always something to improve upon. My recommendation is to find a teacher as you can but be sure of the quality of their teachings. There are millions of taiji players out there and many (MANY) of them have only got a small amount of training and knowledge to teach. Spend ten years looking for a teacher rather than ten years with the wrong one. Some good books out there though. Here are a few suggestions: Hong junsheng - Practical taijiquan, Fu Zhongwen - Mastering yang style taijiquan, Yang style secret teachings, Hong Lou - The teaching of taijiquan from the ji hong lineage (look up ji hong taiji college in edmonton alberta for the book), Feng zhiqiang - hunyuan qigong, Chen Xin - Chen family taijiquan (recently translated). Barring these ask questions of those who have access to, there are many forums out there with skilled taiji players on them who would be willing to help. Learn about the 8 basic energies and try to understand how they feel when done, practice standing post qigong in many of the taiji postures you know. It is worth the effort friend, of that I can assure you. my 2 cents
  7. Celibate practice

I was just practicing normally, a little editatin (my guess is it was not enough), gongfu anf taiji practice along with qigong. I am a very yang and hot person and so I felt the accuulation of all that jing increased the fire to the point I was ill. Thanks for posting the thread I will read it very carefully before my next attempt. Does anyone else have experince with this type of practice? Help?
  8. Celibate practice

Hi all, Looking for some info on retaining your sexual energy (jing) in the body in order to change it into qi and then shen. My Sifu told me I should refrain from all sexual acts (self or otherwise) for 108 days in order to allow the jing in the body to build up to a level where it starts to transmute into qi. now the question is that I have tried this twice now and after 24 and 28 days respectiveley I got very ill with fevers, vomiting, sensitivity to light, loss of blanace everything. At its worst I could not leave the house or even my bed I was so sick. What am I doing wrong? I desperately want to continue my path and accomplish the transmutation from hing to qi to shen through this and practice of meditation and 18 lohan palm. Is there something I am screwing up? Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance.
